⇨ POLARIS 3.0

Where: Polaris
What: On the morning of day 115, a couple hours before the technicians would come to pick up the test subjects, the escape plan will officially come into effect. The meat of everything else will be played out via megathreads and any private toplevels people want to make.

PEER REVIEW↴![]() The plan starts with getting everyone out of their cells. Childermass is going to be using his Gilded Mark to enhance his shadow movement abilities, unabling him to teleport himself and other people out of containment. If your character has other ways of escaping they are free to pursue that, but on a base level, it can be assumed that everyone gets out thanks to Childermass. (Thanks Childermass!) Once everyone has been removed from their cells by some means or another, they will be forced to split into teams as swiftly as possible, as the moment people start breaking out, negative attention from the staff will start building. The area is poorly guarded at first, but as people become aware of the breakout, more will arrive. Gild, speaking on behalf of her inside plant, will say that those that 1) want to get their stuff back, 2) want to find Ignatius, should get the assistance of their allied Deltas to access sector A5. From there, they will have to access Polaris's storage in A3, a neighbouring sector, and find access to C2, the station where Ignatius is being held. They should expect to be met with armed resistance, but with any luck allies will be there to assist them. In general, characters will be most effective if they back one of these major objectives: ► TEAM LOOT: This team is trying to get back the items and pets that were confiscated when the group was brought into Polaris. Their objective, according to their allies on the inside, is to get to A5, and then make their way to A3. The important thing is being able to locate their stuff among a sea of other items, and to make it through security in order to reclaim it. Gild's plant has said that they will assist with this. After getting these items, Team Loot may wish to merge with Team Rescue. ► TEAM RESCUE: This team's primary focus is to get to A5 and then make their way to C2. If desired, they may wait for or join with Team Loot, or they may strike out ahead in order to take advantage of the element of surprise. The key factors are obtaining a way to access C2, as well as being prepared for armed conflict with the technicians guarding it, as well as possibly the Mother of Invention herself. Though, the ideal is that Gild will be distracting here at that time. ► TEAM DISTRACTION: This team can do their thing wherever they please, as their main intent is to sew general discord and distract the staff from the teams doing more important things. They should be prepared for armed resistance, but what tactics they pursue beyond that point are highly variable. ► TEAM FORTRESS: This team is attempting to set up a protective base of operations in the original sector in order to survive the conflict and protect their noncombatant comrades. How they accomplish this is also highly variable. Other objectives may exist, of course, and can be made with their own separate top levels. Chunks of these megathreads will have to be played out in summary form, so when characters are simply trying to get from place to place and specifics aren't necessary, feel free to stick to that format. Assume that everyone is already out of their cells for the purpose of the megathreads. Here is a shitty map of how the sectors connect, from a side view of the central Polaris hub. |
REIRA | OTA | TEAM FORTRESS (STAFF STOREFRONT, 20+ MIN AFTER BREAKOUT)
'Cut these into strips, take off their clothes, and tie their wrists and feet'.
Cutting sheets is easy- Reira does so while other people handle the clothes and bodies deal, simply handing long strips of sheet over as she shears the fabric with her teeth. It's not long after this that Joker is getting people gathered about to hack at them with a sword of all things.
Apparently it's the only thing that's worked on these suits. Or. Well. Was. At one point, more people arrive- through the teleporter even, rather than the water. Ignatius, and a few of those who saved him, come to try and recover. Certain bundles of magic are given back, and Reira quietly feels her own sense of the emotions around her fade, before another sword is brought forward for the task of cutting suits free.
Which is exactly how she ends up with a bunch of chunks off the top and the arms in particular, before she's handed a stolen set of leggings and a long robe-like vest (from the 'normal' technicians, best she can tell), and told to...
Do her best.
She has to cut the shirt sleeves a bit so she can get her arms in. Well. A lot actually, but over all it's rather like a dress. A spare sheet strip is in the set of clothes she's handed, and she uses that to tie the leggings about her waist before rolling the cuffs up.
...Rolling them...about as far as the knees could be, on the original owner.
It's the best anyone can do after all.
It's when she's finally getting that suit off in the first place, peeling it down like a soaked wet-suit (except tighter, more like being stuck in something perhaps), that she sees... That.
The screen goes a little dull and orange with the mild alarm and confusion. The colours shift slowly, as do her emotions. She pokes at it, feels about the frame, and stares some more.
And quietly, setting the shirt back down, notes that even with this there's a faint glow to be seen from under the fabric.
So that's what they did, she thinks dully.
She walks back out in her temporary 'new clothes', and takes a seat on a bench to sit. Not moving until someone comes perhaps a bit too close to ignore.
The screen never changes in response to other's emotions, notably.
Her empathy was blocked, after all. Right now it's only showing her feelings.
[[OOC - For those on other teams regrouping here, make sure to note about how long in the escape is when you tag- I just want to make sure to keep track of that kind of thing...]]

Once that's dealt with he returns his magic to Ignatius, and then from there it's just checking in friends and waiting. When he spots Reira, he makes a beeline for her. There aren't a lot of injuries to go around, and that's good.
"Reira?"
no subject
The woes of...'One size, take it or leave it', truly. But Reira turns her head with a start, standing up from the bench. "Umn! Yuuya!" she shouts- almost running for him herself, only to pause and fuss over rolling her leggings back up.
She bends awkwardly- as if hinged at the hips, rather than being able to curve. But once they're rolled up again, she stands up and smiles. "You got back..! ...I didn't know where you and the others were, and everyone just said some people were getting our things..." Actually, speaking of things- there's a small peep sound as a certain undead sparrow peeks out from Reira's hair and busies herself with making a 'nest'. "I got Kage back..! And my horn, and my ring..."
...
"Did they have your armor there..?" No that shit was in the egg room.
no subject
"Uh, it was in that dimension all the eggs are in... but we went to get everything else." Like his pendulum, now hanging safely back around his neck. "We were the last ones to come back, right."
no subject
She then nods again. "Yeah! Everyone who was making noise and getting all the guards to go away is back here now...so it was just all of you," Reira 'confirms'. "...What do we do now though..?"
Wait? It feels like waiting.
no subject
He pauses, worried about the way the rumbling died out above them before shaking his head. "She'll know what to do from there."
no subject
She's hopping RIGHT into this,
no subject
That might include fighting, or might just include running like the dickens. Yuya's mind is not on murder.
no subject
So there. Anyway. "Mn, we can just sit and wait now though," she continues, smiling at the other. "I got chocolate from Rita, so you can have some..!"
Rita's 'Beta' powers are to be Envied, Yuuya.
no subject
But then Reira's offering candy, and Yuya's been suffering hunger for days because of his scores, so he perks up immediately. "There's chocolate?"
no subject
But she grabs a box of chocolate, and opens it up. "Umn, Rita got them from a machine at the store- she said it's because she tricked it into thinking she's in 'Beta'."
no subject
His gaze drifts slightly, pausing on the glowing space on Reira's shirt that she seems to respond stiffly to. He noticed it the night they shared a cell, too. It must be whatever the Technicians did.
no subject
She'll have to go tell him about this thenReira refrains from making a noise of displeasure about the swift theft of numerous chocolates. She did offer it after all, so she had it coming. Chewing on one piece herself, she pauses however-
She's pretty sure her casual and friendly orange just drooped into a more greener yellow.
She ducks her head into her shirt, checking just that- there's a short 'Hmnn-nn...' sound, muffled a bit by the chocolate she's eating. She quickly looks back up and goes back to the chocolate though.
no subject
He swallows the chocolate, struggling briefly before he clears his throat. "Is that from your trial?"
It has to be, it wasn't there before.
no subject
"It's, umnh... Like a TV, I think." Except just colours.
no subject
He asked her to tell him, but anxiety makes him want to continue to ask anyway. He's so worried for her. For all of them. "Has it been changing colors a lot?"
CW for mild body horror (detailed desc. of 'frame' internals)
Before lifting the edge of the shirt so the bottom of the 'screen' is visible. The screen itself is damning on its own- it tells easily the reason Reira can't flexibly twist or move anymore. It would be difficult, after all, with the front so rigidly flat for such a large space.
More importantly however is perhaps the area that allows for slight flex. Covered by a frame of some sort of 'resin' substance, one can see sections of a circuitboard- the wires however, curve far too much and too often, despite entering various nodes and devices in addition to the two main 'cables' that exit at either side of the frame. They also come in two colours only-red, and blue, the hues tinted slightly by the light of the screen as it comes through the frame.
There is also brass edging, around the frame itself- providing a protective cover to the main 'cables' as they go around along the outside of her.
It's quite extensive.
Reira doesn't seem to comprehend just how much so.
no subject
He doesn't know what to say. His jaw drops but no words come out. He just stares in horror.
no subject
"Umnhhhh..." She knows that feeling. "...you're upset..." Not 'upset' exactly. It's not quite scared, something else, it's...
"...sorry..." She lets the shirt down.
no subject
They hurt her, permanently probably, god knows what this would mean for her in the future. Were they equipped to handle it?

"Right. But we have to save ourselves first."
no subject
"...They'll both happen, somehow."
