[OPEN] All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth
Who: Sora and YOU!
Where: Around the carnival
When: A few days into the Matrix
What: Sora's two front canine teeth fell out, and are replaced with fangs. He feels he's much too old to be losing teeth.
I; What're you, five?
Sora did not wake up this morning expecting this. Oh, he'd expected changes, alright. He'd been told right from the get-go that he'd end up like everyone else, end up with tails and feathers and weird appendages, and he'd knowingly signed the contract anyway. Heck, he'd even expected to have started growing fur or whatever as soon as he'd put his name down.
But his teeth falling out? That was new. He wondered if he'd lose all his teeth, now.
His front two canines were both wobbly, now, and boy wasn't that weird. That hadn't happened since he'd been about eight, the first time he'd lost them. Or, maybe he was like a shark? And he had a second set of adult teeth growing up in his skull? He'd heard sometimes people got a second set of adult teeth. Or maybe someone had told him that to mess with him. Either way, he didn't like it.
He'll spend the morning playing with his wobbly teeth, touching them and moving them with his tongue and wondering how long they'd take to fall out.
II; Ol' Gap-Tooth Rick
His old teeth were out by noon, and now Sora could only stare in wonder at the teeth in his hand. They looked like teeth should look, all white and covered in a little mouth blood (ew), except for the fact that they weren't in his mouth where they should be. That was freaky, having his own adult teeth just sitting in his hand.
He's considered just tossing them, but then he remembers the Tooth Fairy and oh jeeze he hasn't thought about that since he actually was at the age of losing teeth. He'd gonna have to put them under his pillow tonight, then, so he just pockets them. He'll put them under his pillow later.
And now he has to go around all day with two big gaps in his smile and hope that he'll have new teeth there eventually. He likes his smile. Maybe people will just think it's cute instead of weird that a fifteen year old boy has gap teeth.
III; Fang you very much!
The next day, Sora woke up with something new in his mouth where the old teeth had been, and something large next to his pillow where he'd stashed said teeth. Said large thing was a giant monster tooth, presumably given to him by the Tooth Fairy and honestly it was probably the coolest thing ever. Like a dinosaur tooth. The best decoration ever.
It took him a second, still in awe of the giant tooth, to remember that his own mouth had new teeth as well. A quick run to the bathroom mirror told him he now had fangs in place of his canine teeth and honestly, that was awesome. It's not the first time he's had fangs, but they've never been quite so... permanent, before. But, he can make do. He always does. Might be a little difficult to eat for a while.
Either way, he's totally showing them off to everyone he meets today. Doesn't matter if he knows you or not, you're getting a big smile so you can see his new teeth.

The jab comes out friendly, however, and Joker pauses where he'd been passing by to grin at the new kid with his one hand on his hip. Oh, he can tell what's probably going to happen, but still. Seeing someone so young play with wobbly teeth... He can't help but be reminded of fond memories.
no subject
"Y-yeah, I know. It's just... kinda weird," he smiles awkwardly. "I kinda thought I was done losing teeth."
no subject
“Well, the good news is that you’ll be gettin’ some new ones back after those fall out. Somethin’ ta look forward ta, right? Anyway, I don’t think I’ve seen ya around before.”
no subject
"Oh, yeah. I've only been here a few days. I'm Sora," he smiles.
no subject
no subject
"It's nice to meet you, Joker! It's, uh, been pretty good, I guess." Sora pauses, and looks around. "I guess I'm just not used to this sort of lifestyle."
no subject
“Well, if ya ever need any help, be sure ta let me know. I’ve been here for a good couple of years, ha ha, so I don’t mind helpin’ out ya new folks! Besides, we’re in this together, yeah?”
no subject
"Thanks! I'll be sure to come find you if I need help," he replies. "This place is definitely one of the nicer places I've been, but you're right. We all need to help each other out."
no subject
“Well, generally speakin’ it is, but it never hurts ta be a little careful. We go ta all sorts of worlds, after all, and ya never know what kind of trouble is waitin’ around the corner.” He laughs. “Us old timers will have ta tell stories sometime!”
no subject
The boy grins widely, despite his teeth, and puts his arms behind his head. The more things change, the more they stay the same, huh?
no subject
no subject
Boy, has he got some stories to tell, too. It'd be interesting to see if anyone else has some better ones.
no subject
And it’s totally not that Joker just loves making big huge parties or events or anything, no. This is not for his benefit at all.
"Guess I'll know ta tell ya when I get it set up, huh?"
no subject
And, make sure you invite everyone you can find. It sounds like the kind of thing we could make a big event out of."
no subject
“I’d have ta talk with the Ringmaster first ta make sure that she likes it just fine, but I don’t think that’ll be a problem. Ya probably have only chatted with her the one time, but she’s pretty open ta anythin’ that’s excitin’ and fun’.”
no subject
But, uh, I guess she just wanted me to sign up," he finishes, laughing nervously.
no subject
Ah well. Might as well just stick with the obvious. “I don’t think she get how humans and the like think, y’know? But it hasn’t been too much of a problem since I’ve been workin’ here, if ya ask me.”
A
"Was it from force, you poor youth?"
no subject
"Um, no. They just sorta... fell out," Sora says sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head. "I just woke up this morning, and they were wobbly."
no subject
Do you mind if I see?"
What do you mean, a rhyming zebra was new? Zebras rhyme! It's their thing! And they also serve as doctors, or at least this one did, and investigating loose teeth was most definitely her purview.
no subject
Well, you're definitely not -the- weirdest thing he's ever seen. And you seem nice. And maybe you can tell him why his teeth are falling out! Always a plus.
Sora moves over to Zecora and sits in front of her, to give her easier access. He opens his mouth and, yup, those are definitely adult teeth that shouldn't be falling out like this.
no subject
Lifting her head up slightly, she drew up a hoof, then patterned it in a spell of quick analysis to lay over him.
no subject
Mostly, Sora just blinks in curiosity at whatever Zecora's doing, and tries his best to follow along.
no subject
"I cannot say this is strange," Zecora said after a moment.
"It appears to be a change.
I fear that you must wait
To see what is your fate."
no subject
But, at least it's a little reassuring that nothing's terribly wrong with him. Just the same thing that happens to everyone else around here. Still, why his teeth?
no subject
What is coming your way
But best of luck
With whatever you're stuck."
She patted him on the shoulder with one solid stone hoof, in an effort to console.
no subject
no subject
And being the Doctor my fame," she said, nodding her head at him with a smile. At least he hadn't been randomly investigated by someone unqualified to do the work?
no subject
Not that he can't cure himself, but it's always good to know, just in case.
no subject
That is indeed my role."
There were injuries and harms you couldn't imagine, Sora...

no subject
Sora stops beside the girl and watches what shes doing curiously, still grinning. "They shouldn't be too hard to use, though."
no subject
"You should try using them... maybe with some really tough-to-chew meat?"
no subject
He doesn't want to offend anyone with what they like to eat, but that sounds a little... ew. He's not -actually- a vampire, despite the teeth.
"Maybe, uh, maybe something else," he finishes eventually.
no subject
Well, can't blame her for trying to help? What did she mean?
"I just meant they're probably useful, is all! But you seem pretty happy about them, anyway...!"
no subject
"But, yeah! They're pretty cool looking, don't you think? I was kinda worried yesterday, when the old ones fell out, but I guess I'm glad to just have teeth at all, you know?"
no subject
"Mm... it means you fit into the Carnival a little better, too."
Her ears twitch and she scratches behind one of them. "My ears still feel strange sometimes, but... for here, it's normal, I guess?"
no subject
Of course, normal is relative, and Sora knows that very well, but he's running on the assumption that 'human is the norm' around here.
"But I guess it's better to blend in when you're someplace new."
no subject
She stands up to properly introduce herself, leaving the wrench behind. "My name's Nanami Chiaki. What's yours?"
no subject
"How long have you been here? It's only been about a week for me."
no subject
"About a month... I guess?" She raises her hand about a foot in the air above her head. "I used to be about this tall, but... things change the longer you stay here, I guess...!"
no subject
Getting shorter sounds awful, and Sora hopes that's one change he misses out on. He's already considered 'short'; he doesn't want to go back to being kid-height.
