HELL OF A HANGOVER PT. 1

Who: The people who escaped!
When: Very early Day 66 to Day 67
Where: The Carnival
What: The Ringmaster brings everyone she can back to the carnival after getting kicked out the Celebration, a bit worse for wear. Those that have resolved their threads at the Masquerade can start trickling over here as they sort things out.
Warnings: Angst, mostly likely, as well as potentially graphic injuries.

RETURNING HOME

About 45 minutes after the conflict with the vampires begins, the Ringmaster will finally show her face at the Masquerade - and immediately be mortified by what she sees. Though initially mostly confused by the fact that there's been problems over the week, and characteristically obtuse about what's going on, as soon as she realizes the severity of the threat she will launch into action. If the Host managed to miss the combat already going on, they won't be able to miss the Ringmaster tearing up the joint and looking for her people. She's quick to scoop up those that have managed to gather in the dining hall - but unfortunately her arrival seems to be the vampire's cue to retreat.

Her attempt to challenge the Host about this will result in the being finally losing their patience and banishing all the vampires and all of the carnival workers from the premises, forcing them back to the portals they arrived from and launching their remaining belongings out with them. The Ringmaster will be pretty fucking pissed off when they return (once again) and will tell everyone to take the time they need to recover, but to stick together and stay safe for the time being. She has a plan to chase down the carnival members that have been stolen, but it will take time.

► BEER PONG: Apparently the Ringmaster spent the entire week playing a nonstop game of beer pong, against several dozen of the Host's bodies. She hadn't quite won yet when the Masquerade began, so she was late. Whether or not she was caught up in the same spell as everyone else is up to interpretation, but the answer "definitely probably." She won, for the record.

► MISSING: Upon doing headcounts, it will turn out that all the supervisors are missing, as well as several regular workers - a few of which will have been spotted as freshly turned vampires during the fighting. Whether that was the point of the attack or not is unclear, but it's pretty clear that the Ringmaster is a little bit devastated about it - particularly about the supervisors. However, she will refuse to talk to anyone long enough to get into too many details.

► THE PLAN: The Ringmaster will announce that she intends to get everyone back - it's just a matter of figuring out their way back to the dimension they've been stolen off to. She guarantees that she will find it, but that it may take some time. In the end, the workers will have a total of two days to recover and plan - during the evening of Day 67, she will be leading a rescue mission to get them all back. You don't have to come, but lives do depend on its success.

When one takes their snacking habits from the Winchesters, stale popcorn isn't the worst thing he could be eating. Since he doesn't need to eat, Castiel isn't exactly picky. It's more about experimenting.

The fact that there's a cat far too large to be normal with a person with jackal feet next to it is not the weirdest thing he's seen. It's pretty far up there but not the strangest. The sudden aggressive stance the cat takes isn't lost on him although the angel only takes another fluff of popcorn from the bag. Rushing in only works for a certain pair of brothers, not him.

"I am not Jimmy," he calls out in return. With the two so close together, sorting one out from the other is a fool's game. Whatever he is feeling could be one or both. The beast could be protecting the boy given its words. "My name is Castiel."

He takes another bit of the stale too sweet popcorn, offering the bag towards the pair of them. "Popcorn?"

Completely not dangerous over here to the demonic elements. Yep.

[[ooc: -- and this kid happens to be the literal antichrist, Satan's half human son. except a cinnamon roll]]

"Not... Jimmy? Wait, then are you his twin brother or something?! He didn't say he had a brother..." the boy says, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "I mean, we didn't really talk about his family..."

The cat yowls audibly, stomping his front feet, and continues to speak in it's telepathic voice, which sounds almost like a child. He's not a human Rin!! You're SO STUPID!!

"Uh... well, lots of people aren't human, Kuro." But his familiar is right... Rin can definitely feel there's something weird about this guy. Something that makes his skin crawl a bit. Rin looks at the offered popcorn and, for reasons completely unrelated to the radiating holy presence in front of him and everything to do with being hungover, he turns a little green.

"Urk... n-no thanks. I'm... urf.. I'm not hungry."

So perfect for meeting an angel who pretended to be God then!

"No. I am Castiel, an angel that uses his body as a vessel."

Lying isn't something that pops into Castiel's mind, especially when a younger person is concerned. He has too many of Jimmy's views when it comes to people of Rin's age.

"I have never seen a cat of that size. Most are much smaller."

His cold blue eyes move to Kuro before going back to Rin. The feline wants to flee, and that he can understand. Whatever he feels isn't something holy like himself.

"What are you?" Because why mince words? Better to ask and know than take the human way that made a lot of useless noise for nothing. "Demon? What?"

"W-wait, hold up!! Angel?! Angels are real, too?!"

It feels like he JUST found out demons were a real thing (and that he was one of them!) and now his mind is being blown again. If Angels are real, then so is God and--

-- Shit, Rin is totally going to hell for falling asleep or reading comics in sermon. As if his heritage wasn't going to do that already. Wait, so were all the afterlife things real?! Rin's mind is racing with the new possibilities of his blown-up worldview. Either way, Kuro is either ignorant of or completely ignoring Rin's minor freakout, in favor of continuing to growl at Castiel.

"Uh ah... uh... um..." he sputters in response to the question. "D-demon... I mean.. Half-demon! I'm only half demon!" He holds up his hands in a defensive posture, wincing, "Oh god, don't kill me, I'm NICE I swear! Don't smite me! I have so much left to live for!"
cellphoneangel: (you two need to be more careful)

Cas is just 'what do I do now?!'

"I'm here. We're real."

Seems a forgone conclusion to him, but sometimes it takes repeating a few times before someone believes it. It's strange to him how many are willing to believe in evil but not good.

On the good side, Castiel isn't God and doesn't know about all the things Rin did during sermons, although he'd say gum under the pews was worse than reading comics. Watching this teenager process this new information is leading to more surprise on his side.

"A half-demon," he repeats in his maddeningly patient way, considering the implications of that. None of them are good. The last half-demon, or Cambion, he encountered turned him into an action figure. Not a doll. An action figure. But Lucifer isn't on the rise here, and this isn't his world. He's willing to wait a little.

Kuro fades into the back of his mind as Castiel watches this half-demon warily. Huge growly cat loses to the demonic. Panic isn't sure how to handle. "What have you done that deserves smiting?"

TREAT HIM LIKE A NORMAL PERSON MAYBE

[personal profile] flashover 2017-03-07 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, he never put gum under the pews. Mostly because, living at the monastery, he was responsible for cleaning those stupid things.

Well, at least Rin is incapable of doing any such thing. As far as demons went, his tricks were... fairly limited. He could understand the thoughts of other, non-verbal demons, he could heal REAL GOOD, and he could set stuff on fire like a pro arsonist.

"N-nothing!! Nothing real bad! Nothing I didn't already fess up to at confessional! ... Well, I guess I cheated on that math test since the last time I confessed but IT WAS REALLY HARD and the guy didn't care and I'll never do it again!!" his statement comes out a bit like word diarrhea, all at once. "Unless God plans to smite me for being kind of like the antichrist I guess maybe? But if that's the case... well, I'm not gonna STOP being that any time soon, so can it wait? I need to... there's a lot of things I still need to do! It's fine if He needs to do it later, I understand!! But... it just has to wait, ok?!"
cellphoneangel: (a little fuzzy on the details)

Angels kill 'normal' people in SPN because they're in the way.

[personal profile] cellphoneangel 2017-03-10 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
In Castiel's world, healing isn't something any demon could do. The idea of a demon doing such would have floored him. Demons could only destroy, hurt and kill. Then again, so did angels, but they could heal. Not that most of them gave enough of a shit about humans to help.

"Cheated on a test," Castiel repeats. This conversation is almost too surreal for him to keep up with. But the word 'anti-christ' does capture his attention in all the wrong ways. Half-demons in his world were such a thing, and they could wipe out all the angels with a single word if Lucifer were ascending. The last one had been a small child, and Castiel had been ready to slaughter him.

"God has been silent for a time. We angels handle matters as we must. What is it that you need to do?"

On this, Cas is torn. The Ringmaster has to be keeping this child leashed, but if he lets a half-demon abomination live, is he causing the death of countless other angels? Of all of them? This creature's contract will run out sooner or later. It'll be free.

"I should let you live so you can kill all of we angels?"

;_; SO MEAN

[personal profile] flashover 2017-03-11 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, he could heal HIMSELF real good. Other people... well, to an extent! If they were overcome by demonic fungal spores or bacterial disease, Rin could cleanse them without burning the human host at all. So that kind of counts, right? We're going to call it good.

At the question, Rin looks slightly terrified... but also something else. Could it be... embarrassed? Indeed, he looks a little shy, his face and ears red.

"You're gonna think it's stupid. Everyone does. But I'm serious as a heart attack. I'm gonna become the Paladin, the strongest exorcist, then--" he balls his fist and finally manages to stand up, even steadily, on his weird new legs. Then the boy seems to uh... well, catch fire, though the flames are bright blue, like burning brimstone, and his expression changes from scared and embarrassed to fervent and determined.

"--I'm gonna kick Satan's ass!! I'm going to make that shithead bastard pay for what he did to my real dad and to the friends and families of so many people! I may not be able to kill him, but I'm gonna mess him up so bad he'll think twice before leaving the deepest, darkest corners of Hell. I'll give him a beatdown he'll never forget!"

His flames settle down a bit, and he plops back on the ground. The cat nuzzles him slightly. Rin seems to have run out of steam from his little outburst. "Then, if God and all His angels think I need to be erased from the Earth, fine. I will accept His divine judgement."

He seems a little sad to say it, but he is nonetheless sincere. He was raised in a monastery, he is Catholic... albeit not a great one. He was taught that God loved all His children and would accept them. It's crossed his mind more than once that... well, God certainly must hate him for his heritage. But Rin couldn't change what he was. All he could do was change who he was.

There's a reason no one likes angels.

[personal profile] cellphoneangel 2017-03-13 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
While the outburst is surprising in word and vehemence, Castiel's expression doesn't change much. Even the fire, while a curious thing since it doesn't happen often where Cas is from, doesn't get much out of him but a small frown of dislike. Sulfur is never a good smell. Too demon-y.

"If it comforts you, my brother is in the deepest, darkest corner of Hell in his Cage. I doubt he finds it pleasant."

This isn't a decision Castiel wanted placed on him. Every instinct he has says to kill the boy no matter what the Ringmaster's anger might be. But what would Dean do if he were faced with this? (Kill it, Cas, kill it right now, man.) Okay, maybe it would be better to ask what would Sam do. He was always better at this emotional issues.

The angel's eyes blazed with light, seeming to look Rin over before nodding as if agreeing with himself. It's all for show, but Castiel wants the boy a little afraid. To know that there are consequences. They dim and after a blink, it could be Jimmy Novak watching the half-demon instead of something holy.

"I would hope my brother would come to his senses, but if he's done something to you, then you have to do as you see fit to him. Just remember he will try to use you, to turn you on Heaven. Then God will send more than me. You'll need to train more to face my brother. A few flashes of fire and an overly large cat isn't going to stop him."

He thinks for a half-second and then speaks again. "And do not cheat on tests. Someone who feels they can face him down can learn to pass math."

they're just huge jerks

[personal profile] flashover 2017-03-13 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh well Cas doesn't have to do anything more than that. Not only is that divine light terrifying, but it actually burns a bit. Mostly his eyes, but he can feel the gaze actually prickling his skin. But more than the pain, it fills Rin with a feeling of dread unlike any he's ever felt. It feels like his life is in imminent danger. It feels like he could just explode here at any moment. He doesn't know that he's ever been this frightened before. He quickly covers his head, curling up into the smallest ball he can, whimpering a little.

Kuro, being less Judeo-christian in origin, is not as affected, though the show of power gets his hackles raised all over again. He holds himself protectively over Rin.

Rin! Don't be scared. I'll protect you!

Then, as soon as it had appeared, the terrifying light is gone, leaving only the residual terror. Rin peeks up at Castiel, his face several shades paler than it was before. It could so easily just be Jimmy standing there, with a bag of stale popcorn and a stern face. But it was not. This thing, this Angel, was easily the worst thing Rin has ever come across.

He isn't really listening at this point. He's getting told what to do. Something like that? Get stronger, pass math, beat his brother, blah blah blah. Hahaaaaa. Whatever!! Trying not to piss himself is more important than whatever he's saying.

"R-right... I'll d-do that," he says, voice shaky. "I uh... I should... probably go..."
cellphoneangel: (no matter what dean told you we don't)

Again, there's a reason no one likes angels. Even other angels.

[personal profile] cellphoneangel 2017-03-14 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
The cat's movements are watched carefully, the angel blade up Castiel's right sleeve hidden still. From what he's seen, animals are often protective of their owners... even if most aren't as huge as this one. He hears the chatter of beasts on Earth, and he doesn't take it as odd that he hears this one. Later, much later, he'll think on it. Maybe consider it odd, but now, he doesn't. A mostly child that could destroy every angel that has ever existed is more concerning.

Jimmy might not have the weird stillness that Castiel does. Humans always have some sort of motion to them - a twitch, a tic or maybe the inability to stare through another person. Castiel acts as if he could wait until the end of time for what he wants. Scaring the boy this badly isn't what he wanted, but it is better than the alternative.

"You should learn how to use an angelblade too. It's how we angels fight, how Lucifer will. Maybe after we destroy these vampires."

The flapping of wings fills the air and Castiel is gone. It's regretful to have upset someone so innocent seeming so much, but he is cursed with the stale popcorn still.

[personal profile] flashover 2017-03-14 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Could! Could! That's the operative word here. The other key phrase is "but won't". Not that it probably mattered to Castiel in the slightest. What weight could a half-demon's word's have?

It's kind of creepy, actually, how still he is. Like a statue. Except for the slight breathing, you'd never know he was even alive.

"R-right... sure..."

He doesn't care about angel's blades or whatever, he just wants to get out of here. But thankfully, Castiel leaves and takes his oppressive holiness with him. Rin didn't realize how crushed his lungs felt until the force was gone. He takes a few deep breaths and just... sits there. For a long time.

... Then he has to go find Jimmy.
