HELL OF A HANGOVER PT. 1

When: Very early Day 66 to Day 67
Where: The Carnival
What: The Ringmaster brings everyone she can back to the carnival after getting kicked out the Celebration, a bit worse for wear. Those that have resolved their threads at the Masquerade can start trickling over here as they sort things out.
Warnings: Angst, mostly likely, as well as potentially graphic injuries.

RETURNING HOME↴ About 45 minutes after the conflict with the vampires begins, the Ringmaster will finally show her face at the Masquerade - and immediately be mortified by what she sees. Though initially mostly confused by the fact that there's been problems over the week, and characteristically obtuse about what's going on, as soon as she realizes the severity of the threat she will launch into action. If the Host managed to miss the combat already going on, they won't be able to miss the Ringmaster tearing up the joint and looking for her people. She's quick to scoop up those that have managed to gather in the dining hall - but unfortunately her arrival seems to be the vampire's cue to retreat. Her attempt to challenge the Host about this will result in the being finally losing their patience and banishing all the vampires and all of the carnival workers from the premises, forcing them back to the portals they arrived from and launching their remaining belongings out with them. The Ringmaster will be pretty fucking pissed off when they return (once again) and will tell everyone to take the time they need to recover, but to stick together and stay safe for the time being. She has a plan to chase down the carnival members that have been stolen, but it will take time. ► BEER PONG: Apparently the Ringmaster spent the entire week playing a nonstop game of beer pong, against several dozen of the Host's bodies. She hadn't quite won yet when the Masquerade began, so she was late. Whether or not she was caught up in the same spell as everyone else is up to interpretation, but the answer "definitely probably." She won, for the record. ► MISSING: Upon doing headcounts, it will turn out that all the supervisors are missing, as well as several regular workers - a few of which will have been spotted as freshly turned vampires during the fighting. Whether that was the point of the attack or not is unclear, but it's pretty clear that the Ringmaster is a little bit devastated about it - particularly about the supervisors. However, she will refuse to talk to anyone long enough to get into too many details. ► THE PLAN: The Ringmaster will announce that she intends to get everyone back - it's just a matter of figuring out their way back to the dimension they've been stolen off to. She guarantees that she will find it, but that it may take some time. In the end, the workers will have a total of two days to recover and plan - during the evening of Day 67, she will be leading a rescue mission to get them all back. You don't have to come, but lives do depend on its success.

Angel blades. Castiel mentioned something about maybe needing one of those to fight Lucifer. Wait, no, he didn't want to fight Lucifer, he wanted to fight Satan! Later when he had time to think about it, he'd realize that he and Castiel may be talking about completely different things with the same name.

"It's not so much what he said... He didn't really say much at all."

Rin did most of the talking, to be honest. Babbling his head off in his fear.

"He asked if I wanted to kill all the angels! I mean, of course I don't! I didn't even know angels were a thing!"

Jimmy nods slowly. "He just looks at you, right?" Thank god for small favors that Rin can't see Castiel's true form, that would have ended badly for somebody.

"And with you being who you are, and what you're training to do, if you haven't seen them by now, they probably aren't." Jimmy's a little surprised to see Kuro in the kitchen, but keeping cats out is way down on the priority list at the moment. "You're a good kid, Rin. And he-" Jerking a thumb over his shoulder to indicate outside and Castiel, "-is super lazy for not taking a lot of things into consideration. Starting with the fact that you absolutely do not come from mine and his neck of the woods, instead opting to just judge you from that nice patch of morally high quicksand of his."

"Yeah... with the crazy glowing eyes. He's so creepy, man... It's like... it's like..."

Like looking at a corpse version of Jimmy, to be honest... with that same sort of uncanniness. But he doesn't want to say that. He just shakes his head and allows his sentence to trail off.

Rin listens, his ears somewhat drooped and his tail held in a lazy, still coil. "I guess... but like... it's the same religion and stuff... Can two different worlds have pretty much the same stuff, but just a little different?"

Jimmy can sympathize at least. Angels are all kinds of intense, and dealing with them is not fun.

"From what you've told me? The only thing we have in common, religion-wise, is the names. I've never heard of anything like what you do." He reaches out to give Rin another pat on the shoulder. "And if he was arrogant enough to not bother looking for that? Then he's wrong on more levels than I want to think about. And that's on top of him assuming to know God's will." Jimmy shakes his head and sighs.

"And that's not even counting that in my world? God stepped out for a smoke break who knows how long ago. So him threatening you in God's name was the equivalent of leaving a message on God's answering machine and letting Him know that Castiel was gonna intimidate the crap out of a good kid that didn't hurt anyone and was in training to do a lot of real good in the world for absolutely no good reason." It's good to know that Castiel doesn't need the Winchesters' help in charging blindly off on an assumption.

Rin perks up a little when patted, and when Jimmy mentions that Castiel doesn't even have a direct line to God. God was... MIA in their world? That was a little sad. But not really surprising, to be honest. Rin wonders that himself, sometimes.

"So... he's really just kind of a jerk, is what you're saying?"

Cause that is pretty much the gist of what Rin got from him. Good to know Angels were every bit as judgmental as the Vatican. Guess they had to learn it from somewhere.

"Hmm... I bet if we DO have angels, they're just another kind of demon... I mean, there are demons called Seraphim. They have lots of eyes. And explode."

Jimmy nods. "And just when you think he's run out of ways to be a jerk, he gets creative and finds all new ways to be a jerk." Sorry, Cas. Jimmy's never gonna be in your fan club. "Can't figure out humans at all, despite sharing a head with one, but he can find all kinds of ways to judge them."

"That is... entirely possible. Your world seems extremely different than mine in a lot of ways." And any thoughts on the similarities between angels and demons from his world he keeps to himself.

[flashover]

"... I guess if you're immortal, you have a lot of time on your hands to find new and interesting ways to be a total ass."

Again, sounds like some demons he knows. But at least those demons loved humans, even if they didn't completely "get" them.

"Yeah. Similar! But different... It's really kind of mindblowing." Rin pets Kuro again, already feeling a lot better. Just seeing Jimmy whole and well put his mind much more at ease.

"Yeah. And a whole lot of 'Why does Dad love them more than me!?" Jimmy sighs and shakes his head. "I'm kind of wondering if the universe, my universe anyway, doesn't run on daddy issues."

"But... It's good to see that you're okay too." The thought of Rin getting hurt because Castiel got smitey was unacceptable. He notices the new legs after a bit, though. "You... okay? Need some help with those?"
