Although he eventually came out of the bathroom that first night, Susan still didn't talk to Lauren. Instead he avoided his brother as best he could, falling asleep curled up with Fluff (and Stanley, if she let him) on the bed.

The next day he went out, even though Lauren had told him not to; he didn't know a lot about vampires, and even though he felt bad doing it (especially when he was still worried about Lauren), he was pretty sure they couldn't go out in the sun, so it was an easy way to not have to talk to him. He didn't want another argument, not any more - not that he knew what else to do, not when he was feeling pretty bad now, but that didn't matter. He just didn't want Lauren to yell at him and tell him he's wrong.

By that night, though, he still wasn't feeling any better - and even though he still didn't want to really talk to his brother, he still missed him and wanted to be with him.

Once it was late, and he was sure Lauren would be asleep, Susan quietly left the sofa where he'd been originally planning on sleeping, instead slipping into the room with his brother. From there he quietly made his way to the bed, climbing under the covers while being as careful as he could to not wake him.

Susan, on the other hand, only barely remembers that time - and all that he does remember of it is fear and guilt, which doesn't make this any easier to handle. If he had some frame of reference it would at least be easier for him to cope, maybe...

As it is, though, he still doesn't know what to say, and he just stays quiet, still, just laying there against his brother.

"It's okay if you don't believe me..." He says, after Susan remains silent. "Just... talk to me, if you get angry."

He doesn't want Susan feeling like he has to do things on his own.

He finally nods after a moment.

"I can try..."

"Really?"

[wild_magic]

He smiles a little at that.

"I said I'd try, not that I can do it for sure."

[mylastchance]

"Trying is good enough." he answers with a smile. "Thank you."

He nods, falling quiet again at first before deciding to continue.

"It's hard to talk about being mad."

[mylastchance]

"Why?" he asks, looking perplexed.

[wild_magic]

"'Cause then we just make each other madder."

[mylastchance]

"I only get mad because you won't talk to me."

[wild_magic]

"No, you get mad other times..."

[mylastchance]

"Do I?" He wants to believe Susan isn't right, but he knows he can't really remember every time he's ever gotten mad.

He nods a little, although he doesn't elaborate. It feels like every time he gets mad, Lauren gets mad, too.

"Well I'll try too." he says after a moment's thought. He didn't want to get mad at Susan anyway, he just wanted to understand him.

"...Okay." Maybe it wasn't perfect, but that seemed worth a try, at least. And he's not mad now, so it shouldn't be a problem yet either way.

He snuggles closer to his brother.
