THE WOLVES AMONG US↴![]() ► WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS: It's fairly common knowledge that October is a special month - Halloween has always been an excitable time in the supernatural community, because its during this month that the magical energies of Earth seem to disproportionately swell in power. This peeks on the 31st, and has every year for as long as anyone can remember. The holiday of Halloween is a byproduct of this, because the magical phenomenon has gone on for ages past. It's also a pretty common time for wizards to attempt bullshit shenanigans, and also when the Severing first came into effect. ► TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL: Towards the end of the week, Prudence Jaeger will be asking her angelic contacts for a pretty huge favour - she wants them to help her and some of her associates break into the Circle stronghold that the visiting Council members are staying at. It seems that they have some kind of macguffin item that will be needed to crack the barrier cutting off the Earth from the cosmos - and, to that end, allow the angels and mysterious outsiders to return to wherever they call home. ► THE PATH TO HELL: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Team Heaven isn't the only group to clue into the fact that the Circle has what they need. On the same night that the angels go in, so will Anath's army, as the arch demon finally arrives in the city just in time to join the party. Whether the angels and demons fight each other all the way or cooperate to achieve a mutual goal is up to them. ► WITH GOOD INTENTIONS: The Circle and Torchlight aren't all bad, okay? It's entirely possible that they are just acting in the best interest of humanity - unfortunately, that has resulted in them being pretty massive pricks recently, and now the payback for that is arriving on their doorstep. If you're a member of the Circle, you may or may not realize that anything is coming in time for you to prepare. (That will depend on your threads up to the end of the week.) However, once the fight starts, you'll be charge with defending the Councillors whether you like it or not, and Torchlight is getting pulled in as an unexpected ally to ensure their safety as well. Are you going to heed their call? Or is it time to split from the pack? ► BLOOD OF ICE AND FIRE: It's been made no secret that the Rose Queen isn't the only fae trying to pull back her lost changelings - now the Winter Court appears to be doing it, as well. More than a handful of changelings have gone missing over the last couple weeks, lost to both the thorns and agents of the Count. Whatever they're doing, it's also in competition with each other - Winter and Summer will be biting at each other's heels far more than normal, to the degree that it becomes clear they must have some competing objective in mind. Unfortunately for everyone else, that objective happens to conflict with the desires of just about everyone else. Fae are, by nature, opportunists. These are the major conflicts that will be coming to a head towards the end of Week 3. In the meantime, your actions will decide how certain elements are set up, and what the likelihood of success is for each group. Dice rolling handily won the opinion poll where we asked for the preferred method of conflict resolution, so that will be coming into effect a bit later on to determine who actually wins and loses, with advantages based on the choices made. |

The demons seem pretty pissed that Lambert has interfered. The red one scowls, balling his fists and taking an aggressive stance.
"Who the fuck are you, and what are you doing!?"
"Looks like just a human," says the blue one, narrowing his eyes. "Do you want to die today?"
Tamaki's eyes widen, but he doesn't know what he can do to help. Hopefully, Lambert knows what he's getting into...

"I could ask you the same thing," he says, evenly. He doesn't actually think he can take on two demons, so right now the plan is just to distract them long enough that Tamaki can get out and ... he doesn't know. He'll run away, probably. His eyes dart up to the ghost, hoping he can take a damn hint and get out of here.

So he moves away a bit further, up into his tree. It's not necessarily out of reach if the demons really wanted to get to him, but it at least puts a buffer between them and him, and he can still see what's happening with Lambert.
That's a pretty big knife. Tamaki's a little nervous to see it used.

"Get out of here," he's saying now, both for for Tamaki's benefit and the demons that are beginning to smirk from where the sight of the knife and its scratched sigils had made them tense, wondering if they were confronted with a real demon hunter.
"Don't see why we should," the red demon is grinning, cracking his knuckles. "It looks like you're outnumbered--!" Which is all the warning it will give before both demons lunge forward, teeth bared.
no subject
But those are just excuses, and he does have some things he can try.
Suddenly, the tree begins shaking violently, one of the branches coming loose. Tamaki hasn't done a haunting this big, especially outside the dorm room, so he hopes it does what he intends.
Sorry, tree...
The branch breaks off and comes crashing down, right on top of the blue demon.

That moment is all Lambert really needs. He darts in, kicking the demon's legs out from under him sharply. The red demon crashes to the ground, and Lambert wastes no time being nice, aiming another hard stomp to keep him down while he looks up at Tamaki again. A vicious, bloodthirsty part of him wants to use the knife, make sure they really can't get back up and identify them later, but for now ...
"Let's go!" he snaps at Tamaki, reaching a hand out. He's not really sure what he's offering -- what can he even do for a ghost? -- but he remembers, he'd possessed Yuya at one point. Maybe Lambert could give him a ride in the same way, although the idea of being possessed made his stomach turn uneasily.

Possessing a willing body is fairly easy; he's never tried possessing a body that's actively resisting him, but he imagines it's extremely hard. Lambert isn't resisting, but he's not particularly willing, either, and that makes this a bit more difficult than before with Yuya.
Tamaki does his best, though, slipping into Lambert's body like a stream of blue light, disappearing as his soul takes root alongside Lambert's own. He struggles to wrest control of Lambert's limbs, willing his legs to run toward the gate. It takes a moment, and when he finally does move his steps are jerky and erratic, but he makes it to the gate of the university.
And then pauses, head whipping back and forth. Other than going with Yuya before, he hasn't been off the campus in years, and then he'd had a clear direction in mind. He's not sure where to turn now (literally).
SORRY i forgot to add one last detail
Through his eyes, if Tamaki cares to look back, he'll benefit from his ability to see the supernatural as well. If he was unable to perceive the demons' true appearance behind their respective human likenesses, both of them struggling to get to their feet after their inglorious and unlikely defeat at the hands of a man and his ghost.
Once Tamaki finally gets Lambert's body to cooperate, he'll find it responds easily enough. Lambert's fit, so he won't even be slightly winded by the time he gets to the gates ... however, in his skin, Tamaki will also notice something that Lambert was hiding pretty well: he's been injured, and recently. His left forearm aches, and under his coat and hoodie he can feel the skin pinched taut with stitches and covered with a bandage.
Taking a back seat, Lambert isn't sure he wants to know what might happen if he tries to wrest control from Tamaki right now... so he'll prompt him with directions, instead.
Go left, straight for five blocks. Can Tamaki actually understand him? They might be sharing a head right now, but Lambert isn't psychich. In any case, he tries to impress the idea of the place he's thinking of: the cat cafe he works at is downtown, about fifteen or twenty minutes' walk from here -- faster, if Tamaki runs.
They'll be safe there. Probably.

As he turns left and keeps running, he can't help but wince at the wound on Lambert's arm. It's been awhile since he really, truly felt pain - Yuya's body hadn't been injured, and as a ghost Tamaki couldn't truly feel anything like that anymore. All that is left for him to feel is unpleasant hunger that gnaws at his stomach, even if Lambert has eaten recently.
He glances back over his shoulder at the demons who are starting to look less and less interested in running after them. It's probably too much to hope that they'll give up completely, but Tamaki hopes to at least put enough distance between them that they won't notice him duck in the cafe Lambert is leading him toward.
"They're ugly," he says to Lambert, if he can still hear.
no subject
"Demons usually are." Okay, not as easy as it looks, even if it's his own body -- he and Tamaki just can't seem to occupy the same space that well. However, as they pass more blocks, the demons eventually fall out of sight. They have bigger fish to fry than one tasty soul snack, after all...
Once they're at the cafe, one of Lambert's coworkers greets him with a wave, although with a touch of surprise. He wasn't really supposed to come in today. Mentally, Lambert nudges Tamaki to a seat by the window -- at least he'll have a good view of any trouble coming their way.
no subject
Once in the cafe, Tamaki somewhat awkwardly waves back at the coworker, not sure if it's a very Lambert-ish reaction to have. Well, it doesn't matter; the coworker already thinks this is a bit weird, so maybe he won't think anything more of it.
Once he's gotten Lambert into his seat, he finally relinquishes control again, leaving Lambert's body (and visibly startling a few cats). It'll be easier to speak to him if he doesn't have to keep sharing control of one mouth.
"We got away," he says, hopeful that it's really true.
no subject
And then Lambert's alone in his own body again. It's hard to tell if the weakness in his limbs he feels is from the run or the sudden loss of pressure in his own head, but either way, he'll need a moment to breathe, and steady himself.
"... Yeah," he says, eventually, looking up to where Tamaki is floating. "They can't hurt you in here, as long as you're inside." One might wonder at the source of his absolute certainty, but he trusts the cafe's wards will at least try to intervene. The cats are wary at the intrusion, but the bolder ones are curious, tails curling like question marks as they peer at Tamaki.
no subject
When Lambert speaks, he looks back, tilting his head in askance. It's not necessarily that he disbelieves Lambert, but he sounds more sure than Tamaki would have thought. The cafe seems like a normal place (other than the cats). Tamaki can't sense anything more that would make Lambert so certain, but he's not particularly in tune with magic.
"Are demons like vampires?" he finally asks. Maybe you have to invite them in.
