THE WOLVES AMONG US↴ ► WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS: It's fairly common knowledge that October is a special month - Halloween has always been an excitable time in the supernatural community, because its during this month that the magical energies of Earth seem to disproportionately swell in power. This peeks on the 31st, and has every year for as long as anyone can remember. The holiday of Halloween is a byproduct of this, because the magical phenomenon has gone on for ages past. It's also a pretty common time for wizards to attempt bullshit shenanigans, and also when the Severing first came into effect. ► TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL: Towards the end of the week, Prudence Jaeger will be asking her angelic contacts for a pretty huge favour - she wants them to help her and some of her associates break into the Circle stronghold that the visiting Council members are staying at. It seems that they have some kind of macguffin item that will be needed to crack the barrier cutting off the Earth from the cosmos - and, to that end, allow the angels and mysterious outsiders to return to wherever they call home. ► THE PATH TO HELL: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Team Heaven isn't the only group to clue into the fact that the Circle has what they need. On the same night that the angels go in, so will Anath's army, as the arch demon finally arrives in the city just in time to join the party. Whether the angels and demons fight each other all the way or cooperate to achieve a mutual goal is up to them. ► WITH GOOD INTENTIONS: The Circle and Torchlight aren't all bad, okay? It's entirely possible that they are just acting in the best interest of humanity - unfortunately, that has resulted in them being pretty massive pricks recently, and now the payback for that is arriving on their doorstep. If you're a member of the Circle, you may or may not realize that anything is coming in time for you to prepare. (That will depend on your threads up to the end of the week.) However, once the fight starts, you'll be charge with defending the Councillors whether you like it or not, and Torchlight is getting pulled in as an unexpected ally to ensure their safety as well. Are you going to heed their call? Or is it time to split from the pack? ► BLOOD OF ICE AND FIRE: It's been made no secret that the Rose Queen isn't the only fae trying to pull back her lost changelings - now the Winter Court appears to be doing it, as well. More than a handful of changelings have gone missing over the last couple weeks, lost to both the thorns and agents of the Count. Whatever they're doing, it's also in competition with each other - Winter and Summer will be biting at each other's heels far more than normal, to the degree that it becomes clear they must have some competing objective in mind. Unfortunately for everyone else, that objective happens to conflict with the desires of just about everyone else. Fae are, by nature, opportunists. These are the major conflicts that will be coming to a head towards the end of Week 3. In the meantime, your actions will decide how certain elements are set up, and what the likelihood of success is for each group. Dice rolling handily won the opinion poll where we asked for the preferred method of conflict resolution, so that will be coming into effect a bit later on to determine who actually wins and loses, with advantages based on the choices made. |
⇨ INVESTIGATION THREADS
DON'T BE VAGUE. If you are having your character investigate something, you must explain what your character is specifically doing to find out information. Don't just say "I investigate the posters." You have to be more specific, by saying what your character is doing, such as "My character is going to ask around in X community where a poster was put up, trying to find out if anyone saw who did it." The more specific you are, the better info you will get in return.
You can also confront NPCs by this method, and you'll get summary posts in return explaining how the situation will unfold based on your actions. Investigation is important for this plot! Various boons and advantages will be given out for characters who make a difference.
Please restrict all investigation actions to one or two actions at a time. Please don't give me a laundry list of the five different things your character is doing, because it makes everything too time consuming to get through. Stick to one main thing your character is looking into per tag.
► VISIONS FOR SEERS & WEREBEASTS (OCT 15TH+)
At the center of it all, you will find the concept of a great tree, with billions of shining fruit, like stars in the sky. Upon that tree you see spilled: the blood of Summer, the blood of Winter, the blood of Hell, the blood of Angels. All of these exist simultaneously, yet in solitude.
And, slowly, the boughs of that tree will begin to burn.

In the evening of the 15th, if Greg happens to be in his apartment for a moment, he will hear the sound of wings in his living room, followed by a cluttered stumble. An angel has just arrived, and he's not in a particularly great state of mind. He might be drunk, and that comes across in his voice when he calls out.
"Yo," he calls out, like he's been here a few times already without any success, and so he isn't particularly expecting to get an answer. "Anybody home? Kinda... kinda got something going on. It'd be cool if you were here."
► MORE GENERALLY, MOPING AROUND THE CAT CAFE
Sans lives here now, in a surprisingly literal way. After washing up the night after the Animal Fair, he ended up making a deal with the owner that allowed him to hang out in the cat room at night, provided he would watch over the place with his angelic might. Done deal, as far as he's concerned.
However, lately, he's also been spending most of the day there, too.
If you can see his angelic form, it's pretty obvious that there is an angel here, spending hours playing with cats and reading books. If you don't have the sight, you may alternatively notice a hobo looking guy doing similar.
He's tried drowning his woes in alcohol, so now he's drowning them in cats and novelty cappuccinos.

As it's the end of his shift, he should probably be going home now and angsting about his existence some more, but instead, he's going to slide across the seat in front of Sans, leaning his elbows on the table. The demon-costumed cat in Sans' lap stirs, giving Lambert a half-hearted hiss.
"Really setting in for the long run, aren't you?" he observes, rather tiredly. "Don't you have more ... things to do?"

[With the city descending into slow chaos, Yuya feels like he should do something. They were able to secure the Sanctuary again, so he knows he's not helpless!
Changelings are so vulnerable now, so during the evenings Yuya's wandering the streets where the Courts are leaving their mark. When he finds changelings and other supernatural people caught in the chaos, he directs them to the Sanctuary. He leaves his number, writes directions, gets the names of those who went missing. He's not hard to spot running around so openly, helping friends.
In fact, whether he recognizes you or not, he may wave and try to flag you down for help.] Hey!

[There's an abandoned house down one of the northern streets that he's peering into, taken over with the Rose Queen's vines. He calls out to someone inside.]

[It's around the beginning of the week that Yuya gets the chance to dial Strange. He has a lot of serious topics to ask about.

At least until one spots him early on in the week, and starts stalking toward him, another following in its wake. At first, he thinks maybe it's someone else they want, but the demons zero in on his tree. Panicked, Tamaki tries to float back to the dorm room, only to feel a sudden, strong force pull him back toward the ground.
The demon isn't letting him leave, he realizes with fear.
"Well, what do we have here," the demon crows as it got close. "An errant spirit, huh?"
"We don't have time for this," the other demon mutters. "Anath won't like-"
"I just want a little soul to go, that's all," the first demon interrupts, reaching out for Tamaki. "It'll only take a moment to devour him."
"L-leave me alone!" Tamaki snaps, yanking back to get away, but the strong force is pulling him toward the demons, not letting him go. "I don't want to go to hell!"
"I wasn't going to take you there," says the demon with a smirk. "There are other things demons can do with souls, you know."
Tamaki screams as a feeling like claws sinking into his skin hurts his elbows, eyes searching wildly for some help. Please, please please - he doesn't want to die again like this!

Bad luck seems to find him often enough at the university that he's in a hurry to get home, when a wrenching feeling in his stomach -- and a shriek of terror, not far away -- bring him up short. It doesn't even register in his mind, that the sound of the voice is familiar, or that nobody else seems to have noticed. He turns on a dime, nearly skidding across the concrete, and bolts in the direction of the sound.
What he sees is a pair of thugs with horns and claws, one whose skin is unnaturally flushed red while his friend -- who's standing to the side with his back to Lambert, arms crossed as he rolls his eyes -- is a dull shade of blue. Right now, with most people in class, the place is mostly deserted. In the red demon's grasp, though, is a much more familiar figure.
Lambert doesn't even think twice. A short whirling sound is all the warning the demon gets before Lambert throws his backpack straight at the back of his head. It's full of books that Lambert had borrowed from Strange, and a few more he took out of the library, so it's going to make quite the impact, thought he doubts it'll be permanent, whatever effect it has. What matters is that it distracts them long enough for Tamaki to ... get out of the way? Lambert doesn't know. But he's fumbling with something in his back pocket as he races forward, teeth bared.
"Pick on someone your own size!" The complete irony of this statement is lost on him, as he's the shortest person out of the four of them right now.

Jonathan Strange | ota!
One of the many problems with Strange is that he's started to get odd memories back. Memories of a different him bending the elements to his will, traveling through realms closed off, drinking potions and concoctions in order to gain madness and achieve...something (the memories are a bit fuzzy on that.) Repressing everything can only go so far, but if the memories were true, he could do so much more with even a fraction of that man's power.
The problem here is that AU-Strange hasn't exactly twigged onto how OU-Strange succeeded in becoming mad in the first place, nor what the madness actually gave him. But whatever happened, the quest to become mad was obviously a big deal and obviously important, so it was worth a try. He started off small, of course, but even small doses of poisonous herbs brewed in a tea can have a terrible effect on the body.
As such, there is a grownass man straight up vomiting into a bush or a public trashcan at 11am on a weekday. Who's ready for the hot mess express?
2: IN & AROUND THE SANCTUARY, LATER IN THE WEEK
There were two things the Rose Queen wanted: the artifact owned by the Circle and that changeling brat of hers. Well, the likelihood that Strange could get the first has severely decreased, but he could at least attempt the second (even though there's a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach at the idea of kidnapping someone to faerie and Strange is terrified that they'll actually force him to go through with it.)
So, where would a changeling fleeing the Rose Queen head to? Obvious answer, the Sanctuary, especially since Yuya cast the spell and restored the threshold. Strange takes careful care to enter the Sanctuary with just his wallet, his cellphone, and the clothes on his back. Once he gets there, it's obvious he's looking for someone, though he's cagey about who as he starts interrogating anybody who remotely looks like they know what they're doing.
"Is there any sort of roster or check-in list or something? I'm looking for someone in particular and don't know if they're here."
C: CLOSED TO CARLY, EARLY IN THE WEEK, OUTSIDE THE CAT CAFE
Strange is pretty sure he's banned for life after almost getting into a fistfight in the middle of the cat cafe. Still, there's nothing that says he can't watch the cats looking in from the cafe window so ha, take that Lambert. He's gained a newfound appreciation for the furry bastards and god knows after how ridiculous these past few weeks have been, he deserves to watch cats be cute for a bit.
So, after five minutes of looking at the cats through the window with absolutely zero subtlety and one coughing fit later, Strange turns to leave. Unfortunately, he's still a bit disoriented from said coughing fit and manages to walk smack into Carly. The two bump into each other right in front of the entrance to the cat cafe and almost instantly, Strange takes this accident as an opportunity to grumble.
"Watch where you're going!" he snaps, despite the fact that this was entirely his fault. He turns to look at the person he bumped into, probably to yell at them a bit more, when he pauses. Something about this woman looks...familiar. Weirdly familiar in a way he couldn't place.
"Have we met before?"

Strange can be found in various parks, his apartment, and his office as well! A note that throughout the week, he looks like shit, starting off normal-yet-messy but ending the week closer to 'dude, you need to see a doctor.' Strange doesn't look quite as he did when they last met. Like he skipped a few days of sleep, or just got back from dumpster-diving, or maybe both. Rita doesn't look the same as she did, either: while inside the Sanctuary, glamours are optional, and she left hers off while focusing on her reading. Red-black feathers peek out from the cuffs and collar of her jacket, which appears to have been modified to fit around the spikes growing out of her shoulders. Colorful horns grow from her head, and a long, fan-like feathered tail trails behind her.
More familiar, however, would have to be the look of disgust that crosses her face when she sees him questioning one of the residents. She marches right up to them, and to the interrogated party, says, "Ignore him. I'll deal with this idiot." They're all too happy to leave the two of them alone.
Strange receives a pointed glare for a greeting. "What are you doing here?"

[In his sleep, he dreamed of a great many things. The blood had helped significantly to kickstart recovery; but while he slept, he slept deeply. He dreamed of being thrice bitten. He dreamed of surrounding himself with leaves in both a literal and figurative sense. He dreamed of a many things, and through it all, mutterings escaped him-some of them were names ('Yuuya', he muttered the most, though occasionally it just sounded like 'you'), others were clipped statements of unknown origins...
'...Battle beast...' Or was it The Beast? Or The Great Beast?
'...stop... ...don't hurt... don't...' It sounds like a nightmare, the mutterings that last before he truly awakens. It sounds like-]

[Something far beyond the attitudes of both halves to him.]
[Crawling, While I Lay Awake | SANCTUARY, 15th - 17th]
[During the first three days spent at Sanctuary, Gongenzaka recovers slowly. He remains in a room without windows, far away from any sunlight, though a bulb turns on with the proper time whenever he is awake himself. There is not much to do, while recovering. For a while he is stuck laying on his front, waiting for his back to heal enough that he can put weight on it again. Eventually, closer to the final day however, he can finally just deal with 'bedrest' (however that works for vampires).
Zecora comes and goes with a bit of a 'drink' to help his recovery, and beyond that, he is left with books and his dog, the latter brought to him shortly after he regained consciousness. It's good to see her okay.
...Though he wonders, now, what it is that he 'truly' is.]
['Till I Can Follow | Around Portland, 18th-19th]
[There was something wrong with his 'soul', apparently. Something odd, something that could be detected alongside Yuuya's, a few others...
It was something unique, that much was clear.
They didn't know how well this trick would work, but for now Gongenzaka sought to try it in small doses at the least. He does not go to his usual park, however-he tries other places, places where he can easily and immediately pull out his wings and fly away to avoid capture, if he so needs. If he can find others like them, however...if he can find the oddity in himself and latch onto it in others...
Gongenzaka folds his hands together, and focuses on the spell.]

[She doesn't know what to believe any more. Aslla's attempts to speak to her are met with silence as she mutes out his voice, the words of her own shadow falling upon deaf ears. She remembers Jack but it is not Jack all the same. She remembers herself, but it is someone else, she remembers Aslla and somehow despite everything he seems practically the same as he is now as he is 'then', and she doesn't know what to believe.
Carly mutes her phone, and shuts her computer off, the minute she is home after her ritual on the 14th. She throws her clothes (stained) in the sink, fills it with what she knows will clean out the blood, and watches numbly as the fabric soaks, and the water flows a ruddy hue.
And for the rest of the night she holds her Iguana on her lap and watches netflix comedy that she isn't really that interested in but hopes dully will help soothe her mood. When she falls asleep, it is on the couch, and when she wakes to the sound of the demon in her shadow again all she can think is of what occurred again, the cycle continuing.
Work is calling, and she ignores it. The clothes need to be scrubbed and properly washed, but she leaves them.
She spends as much time as she can dully perceive sitting there in the dark, and in the meantime wonders what it all means.
It would be a true shame, then, if a knock on the door stopped those thoughts.][I Believe It, Therefore It's True | Around Portland, 16th - 18th]
[Carly cannot stay inside forever, and this fact burns at her the most when she opens the refrigerator to find that she hadn't done the grocery shopping she'd planned on doing the week prior, and at some point the left-over pizza is going to run out. Her work will need paying attention to, her boss will want a text back, and after the last few knocks on her door, reality is sinking in.
She still has a Life, or at least she thinks she does.
But when she comes near the places she would have gone ordinarily, she finds herself pausing. She finds her thoughts growing hazy, and her questions multiplying rapidly, and her feet become unable to take her there. To the Cat Cafe, to Sanctuary, even to the headquarters of the Circle, where she should really be putting out her feelers for information at this point.
She can't move.
And while she can be found near all of those places, in the end she is found most at a bridge over a man-made river, her eyes staring vacantly at the water while she loses herself in thought.]

Maybe it's coincidence or luck, but his feet lead him to a bridge, and the bridge leads him to a person. She looks familiar, so he makes her way toward her nervously, and stands quietly for a moment before interrupting the silence.]

Pointless to wonder now, really, isn't it?
He's in the process of flitting around the grounds, searching. So far, he hasn't spotted any of his sister's flocks in the area, which means he's free to search. For his own plans to go well, he needs to figure out where his so-called co-workers are. Greg and Pearl aren't entirely unknown to the Sanctuary, after all, which makes it as good a place to start as any other. Being a bird, he easily bypasses any security that's been put up and seek out an open window. That part happens to be slightly less easy, considering it's October, but he eventually finds one, a room with a window left open a crack for fresh air. As a crow, he can't really pry it open, but as a Winter Court changeling? He can just sink into shadow and flicker from outside to inside.
Which means there's suddenly a random crow in a room, be it someone's room, a guest room, or just about any other kind of room.

"Who's there!?" she demands, staring directly at the intruder. It's far too unlikely that a bird just happened to wander in here. It could just be a werebeast, one of the many Sanctuary residents that Rita hasn't met before... but with everything going on lately, and it being a crow of all things, she has her suspicions.
She holds a hand out in a spellcasting stance. With her glamour inactive, it's easy enough to guess what she is and, to some degree, what she's capable of. "Show yourself, or you're gonna be roast chicken!" Of course, that's no guarantee that she won't roast him if she doesn't like who he is. And if he tries to flee, she'll blast him then too. Rita's not taking any chances.

To add some legitimacy to the whole thing, he's brought papers and notes with him -- though it's honestly been so long since he actually did anything with them that he can hardly understand what he'd been thinking three weeks ago, jotting these notes down. Waiting for Childermass and Sora to show up, he contents himself with re-reading the same page of his notebook for the fifth time in a row now, not really processing the words.

Either way, he shoots out of his history class as soon as the teacher lets them go, and goes straight to the library. Normally, he wouldn't go to some meeting like this without Joker, but... nothing about this month has been normal. He can't rely on his guardian angel for everything.

The Earth Spirit (18th) - closed to Miko and Peridot!
And yet... not only was he back in the woods--the same woods that had hosted the Animal Fair, though not exactly the same part of it--but it had been his idea.
That... that had been three hours ago. Probably. There was no way to know what time it was, other than 'night time' because Foster had decided, apropos of basically nothing, that they should all turn their phones off. His logic was that whatever magical energy technology could put out wouldn't interfere with their honestly futile efforts.
He might just be grasping at straws by now, but no one had come up with a convincing reason it wouldn't help, so now none of them had the use of their phones. At the very least, it forced them to stay on task.
Because there was a task.
The entire reason that Foster, Peridot, and Miko had formed a sort of a triangle on the mossy, damp leaf-litter; a bear, a bat, and a domestic dog, trying their best to follow the instructions of a possibly-insane book.

CLOSED TO GINKO AND GREG
And that was only when he dad was around.
First he'd tried the Sanctuary itself, and was relieved to hear that most of the people staying there were okay now. Most. Some people had definitely been taken, however, and the idea of that made it really hard for him to continue. Yet, knowing that some of the people had been so kind to him may have gone through something terrible, too... he at least had to try.
He tried calling up Ginko, using the number he'd been given before. It's almost a surprise when it actually works. Ginko is alive, and present, and after a little while of talking he says that he wants to come and see him. Steven is too relieved to hear that he's safe to even consider that it could be a threat - Ginko had saved him, after all.
Still, Steven decides to have this meeting outside, a bit away from where he's currently staying. Not because of Ginko, but because there's the off chance that any of them could be followed, and he doesn't want to lead any dangers into Blue's house when she's been so kind to him.
He waits at a bench near a local park, feeling nervous despite himself. He just really wants to see that Ginko is okay.

Ginko could not possibly describe what a relief it was to get that phone call. He sets off almost as soon as they've determined a meeting place, barely remembering to let Psi know he's going out.
It doesn't take long to find Steven once he gets to the right place; the park isn't particularly crowded, thanks to the time of year, and the changeling is easily recognizable anyway. He waves at Steven as he approaches.

Greg and the Rose Queen (20th)
And now he's been called to enter her realm and speak with her. Alone.
This doesn't have to be the worst case scenario. This sort of summons has happened many times over the years, for wide varieties of business and, well. Not business. Mostly business these days, anyway. She's been distant lately, cool and unconcerned, and that's a sure sign for the worse, but her likely suspicion doesn't mean she's condemned him yet. Running away would confirm everything, and if Sans is right... if there really is some sort of way to get past her grasp, not just from this city but this whole world... he has to stay, just for that chance.
So Greg kneels before his Queen, his lover, the mother of his son. He bows deep, and prays to whatever forces that don't hate him.

Ginko | Oct. 15-16
He’s got to find Steven.
That’s the main thought on his mind as he makes his way around the city. But, at the moment, he’s got no leads and no idea how to get any. So his best bet for the time may be to just keep an eye and an ear out and see what he can pick up on.
Of course, normally the tea shop would be a great place to listen and see what he can hear, but, uh. He guesses it shouldn’t be too surprising that, upon walking in for the first time in several days, he’s quickly informed that he no longer works here.
Which… he’s not gonna lie, that kind of sucks, and more stress is the last thing he needs right now.
All the same, he keeps coming back to the park by that shop - maybe it’s just out of habit, but, as he wanders through the city with Miu, his route seems to keep taking him there. So, each time, he’ll stop and rest on a bench for a few minutes, scooping his guinea pig into his lap as he watches the people around him in silence.
Is This Dating - closed to Psi
It’s been a good ten years - maybe more - since Ginko has actually lived indoors. It feels strange to accept Psi’s offer, but… in a good way. Especially considering what else they talked about when Psi first suggested that Ginko stay with him.
So, not long after it becomes clear that staying at the Sanctuary won’t get him anywhere, Ginko heads back to Psi’s apartment.

WHAT UP G. this is super gay.
It was probably kind of weird, and maybe even a bit annoying, but the first day Ginko stays with him the demon just follows him around from room to room. He still can't believe someone is living with him again, especially after what happened with Sans. It's more than simple disbelief though. He just wants to be with his friend, and after thinking he'd never see Ginko again he wants to spend as much time with him as he can. Just to make sure everything was okay. At some point he realizes he can like, hold Ginko's hand if he wants to, and after the conversation they'd had, he doesn't think it's too out of line. So, casually (super casually) while maybe blushing the tiniest bit (he's bright red) he reaches over all sauve like to hold Ginko's hand in his own. So sauve.

It's a pain in the ass... but it's not as bad as the entry hall, where her scuffle with Strange left an even bigger mess.
On one table, a little over a dozen books have been stacked and separated with undamaged ones in one pile, and scorched ones in the other. Fortunately, the bulk of the damage seems to have been done to the covers and edges of the books; the contents are mostly safe. The same doesn't apply to the many loose papers that have been collected in all manner of states between lightly singed and mostly ash, but it shouldn't be a problem for the Sanctuary. Those were all Rita's personal notes, anyway.
Having moved everything off the floor, Rita now has a broom out, and is working at sweeping up the remaining ash and debris. Her jacket is left draped over a nearby chair, her arms covered instead by red-black feathers. No point in using a glamour in here.

Which is kind of weird, because it's a library. Still, though - Steven swallows his nerves, and peers in. If he doesn't see what's going on, he's not going to be able to stop worrying about it.
Bud flies ahead a few paces, and then stops and chitters indeterminately. That sounds safe-ish? Steven proceeds, and then spots a familiar changeling. His eyes prickle with tears of relief.
"Rita!" He runs over immediately and embraces her, not really thinking of anything else. He's so glad she's okay.

Negatives, well, basically everything else, along with spotting a certain warlock being imprisoned. He should have taken that as a silver lining, as he'd been worried about interference from Greg, but he also knows what else that means. A kid just lost his dad, for the second time, and the guilt of being the cause of the first is something that still eats away at him.
As such, he's risked going back out into the open again to return to the Sanctuary, this time in search of the smaller DeMayo. He's quick about it, slipping in as a shadow and flitting from place to place, room to room, avoiding the rest who live there with a practiced ease. Why the place was never warded against him in particular, he'll never know, although he would suspect it might have to do with how he normally avoids the place entirely. He's never attacked it himself, he's never dragged anyone back to the Summer Court from here directly...
Neutral ground, he supposes, still applies to him.
Let's see how long that lasts.

He's tried to read, he's tried to sleep, he's tried to do anything to make things go a bit faster, until he could be sure that something's gone wrong and its safe to officially panic. He only has one idea of how to proceed if his dad really is in danger, and it's not something he can risk doing frivolously.
Jonathan Strange had told him he could fix everything, just by going back to her. Greg had assured him that, no, that was ridiculous and that he couldn't do it. He couldn't leave him again.
But if his dad doesn't come back...
Childermass will see Steven huddled up at the window, with his nails digging into his arm with stress. It probably isn't much of a surprise, knowing what Childermass does.

It seems to be the latter when Tamaki just as suddenly reappears, looking frantic. The light suddenly reaching out to him had been enough of a surprise that he couldn't contain his curiosity, and the warm feeling that enveloped him was even more surprising. Whatever he had assumed the afterlife to be like, he never expected it to be this comforting, and for the first time since his death, Tamaki seriously considered moving on. But the spirit had told him no, and then told him a great many things about what was happening to it, how it was being drained, and as he finally returns to the world of the living, Tamaki is at once grateful he was told and wishing he wasn't. Now that he has this information, what does he do with it?
Which is what leads to him flitting around the cat cafe, yelling, "Lam-san! Lam-san!" and ignoring the angel sitting right there. His nervous energy causes cat toys and other objects to be tossed around the room, sending the cats scurrying.

It's absurdly normal, all things considered. Lambert doesn't step all the way out, lingering at the edge of the trees, watching the sunlight dapple the ground through the leaves. How long did they spend talking to the Beast? It hadn't felt that long, but it's already later than he thought it would be. Stepping over the artificial threshold formed by the shadows won't save them.
He glances towards his sister -- whether she's reverted back to human form or not -- and frowns.
"We should talk." As his subdued tone implies, this is the last thing he wants to do, but ... after everything, no sense in putting it off now.

"I'll say," she mutters, hands shoved in her pockets. There's a lot on her mind, but first things first: Lambert needs to fill in some of the gaps. And he's got a hell of a lot of explaining to do.

When Greg comes back to the apartment, he'll find that any magic wards placed on his home have been tampered with. The sound of a dog's persistent barking can be heard from deep inside; after a confrontation with the agitated pup, Rita opted to lock it in the bathroom, where it can't get at her.
Inside, Rita sits at Greg's desk, casually looking through his belongings: books, charms, runes, anything magic-related she can find. She wears no glamour and her Renegade jacket is nowhere to be seen; while it wouldn't be odd for Rita to be recognized as a member, she doesn't really want her gang being associated with her present actions. She doesn't move to conceal her crime or flee the scene, even if she hears someone enter. After all, as interesting as all of this stuff is, it's Greg she has business with, really. The snooping is just to pass the time until she can meet him.

Greg's voice tends to get a little pitchy and strained when he's worked up, but there's no doubting he's serious about it; he has a toy gun aimed at her and everything. A curling mass of ivy has burst out of the seed packets in his pocket and wound tightly around his arm.
Any other week, Greg may have been able to react a little better to this kind of surprise. He probably wouldn't have been great with it, no, what with it being more or less exactly what he's been dreading for the last four years and specifically what he got the dog for. Kids were allowed to sleep in, but Blue had things to attend to. Preparing the day's everything that human adults took as part of life but she took as a deeply unwelcome burden she put up with through affection alone, was an ongoing chore that finds her seated at the suspiciously ordinary table in the kitchen with a notepad, writing up what looks to be a grocery list.
It's even in English.
She knows her own family's requirements, but now there was a little plant-boy to take into consideration, and perhaps plant-children didn't really enjoy flamebroiled roasts on most nights. Blue taps her pen briefly on the paper, frowning, then looks up and around. There really was just one way to find out. Which means going and looking around for Steven herself. He could still be asleep, on a fold-out bed, or on the couch, or in someone else's bed, or even down in the basement playing with the assortment of Rin's old games and toys, or even in the bit of back yard with one of their pets or..
... Well, she has some searching ahead of her. And yelling when people might still be asleep would just be rude, so in spite of the sound of hoofbeats on various materials, Blue is rather quiet as she picks her way through her home, looking for a bit of flower or foliage or small-boy-shape that her own son had outgrown a decade before.

He sleeps better than normal. His nights are still habitually filled with stress and unwanted dreams, but when his eyes open in the morning, he actually feels rested and comfortable. His hands are healing, and the bruises on his arms and legs are dimming as well. He unfolds his wings and stretches them out, staring at the ceiling in a daze.
Until he hears a tap against the nearby window, and recognizes a familiar orchid flower sprite on the other side.
"Bud!"
Steven gets up, excited by the sight. He quickly goes over to the door leading to the backyard, pushing it open - only to have a labrador dog dash over to start inspecting him. He yelps, momentarily startled - meanwhile, Bud just zips on inside, chirping to him in relief.

Towards End of Week 3
The Sanctuary only looked a little worse for wear from the last time Pearl had stopped by. She stood across the street, looking up at it and wondering if this was really what she wanted to do. One of her Renegades was being targeted by her Queen, The Winter Court had attacked her for Childermass, Strange had joined the Summer Court, and Greg was being kept by the Rose Queen for traitorous actions. She didn't know what to think any more and for some reason she had found herself here. Why?
She felt something wet on her cheek and drew a hand to wipe it away. There was also that. The tears kept coming and she had no explanation for it, just the strong desire to make it stop. It wasn't the only strange thing happening to her. The dreams she couldn't remember, which painted the Queen in a much nicer light, were making it hard to cope with the idea that the Queen was just as ruthless as ever. It made her question her loyalty, but also feel very afraid and alone.
There was also the boy to consider. Pearl took another deep breath, clenching her fist. After weeks, wasn't this what she was supposed to do? And what of Greg anyway? He'd known the consequences of his actions in protecting that boy, his son...but also hers. Pearl clenched her fist and focused on the glamour as she crossed the street. She was still allowed at the Sanctuary as far as she knew, but she didn't want a fight breaking out over a misunderstanding. The glamour would just make her unnoticeable and unimportant--someone to glance over. Pearl quietly made her way inside in search of a boy.

Pearl looked like she'd been through the ringer, but no sleep, fights, and a lot of caffeine will do that to you. She was spent and so she'd looked for the one place she could find a little peace in this town: the Voodoo Donut Shop. It was probably not a good sign that there was an extra large coffee with whipped cream in front of her or the large box of donuts...especially since she didn't appear to be sharing them with anyone at the moment. Of course, despite this, it also looked like she hadn't touched the donuts yet either so it was hard to read what her plan was. The waitress, Kelly, kept giving her a sympathetic look, but was too shy to actually approach. For once Pearl wasn't noticing her anyway...her eyes were staring into the distance. Was she spaced out or looking for someone?

It has him on guard, because his dad is away right now. Steven knows its something related to his mom, and that in itself means that he can't help but worry about a worst case scenario. He's been spending his time pacing the main level of the Sanctuary, hoping that he'll find that his dad has returned, but that hasn't happened yet.
Of course, Pearl isn't who he was hoping to see.
She doesn't inspire the immediate terror that some of the other visitors have, though he knows that she almost certainly had to do with what happened to him four years ago. At best, she'd never tried to help him, despite her place of relative privilege in the Queen's Court. She's just... acted like he was meaningless, like he wasn't there at all.
So, when he passes through an arched doorway only to see her there, he has no words. He freezes in place, just staring, bare feet on the stone floor.

Obviously they'd need to regroup. Make a new plan. Something Yuya hadn't stuck around for, given he was barely useful for the whole ordeal. Really, how does a human stand up against awe-inspiring, powerful angels?
It's just as well, though, because it just means he's prepared and full of enough adrenaline to still help Rita. He expects that will be a much less easy fight, and since the Summer Court was already in the fray having tried to acquire the artifact--it was opportune.
So it catches Yuya off guard when he gets an urgent text to meet Lambert. Yuya responds back and works out meeting only a block away from where the rest of them would be taking the trip into the Rose Queen's realm. There was time for everyone to catch up, but Yuya doesn't want to chance delaying anything if he needs to catch up quickly.
He's already waiting there, an iron crowbar resting against his shoulder as he leans against the wall. He offers Lambert a short wave. "Hey--what's up?"

Maybe attacking the Circle would have been the better place to search for answers to start with -- after all, if they're the ones responsible for trapping the supernatural on the earth in the first place, maybe they'd be the ones who could explain more of what was going on. But as Lambert doesn't have even the slightest clue as to how he could pursue that? He'll just have to do his best with what he's got to work with. In the meantime, he ought to make sure as many people have the pieces he's got to work with, in case he's not able to see through that himself.
What he clearly isn't expecting is to see Yuya hanging out with a crowbar over his shoulder. He knows the kid is involved in things -- rounding up people to banish some fae roses isn't the kind of thing someone ordinary would do, after all -- but it still instinctively puts him on guard, hand reaching automatically behind him before he catches himself. They don't have time to waste on being confused.
"You need to know some things," Lambert says, without preamble. "How much do you already know about what's going on around the city? About people -- missing memories, coming from other worlds?"

But now, that stuff he tried to ignore was staying in his house, so… he sort of had to think about it. After dinner the first night he got there, the kid understandably just wanted to rest. But Mom had insisted that Rin try and make the changeling boy feel as comfortable and at home as possible.
