let's get down to business
Who: Nightrunners and whoever wants to make use of the training yard for whatever reason.
When: S2 D1-D5
Where: The Training Yard
What: Training, or pointing and laughing at people training.
Warnings: Explosions and swearing, probably.
Though it's never really been off-limits, once they're down off the moon, Lambert wastes little time informing the nightrunners he officially expects them to get back to training and getting in shape. They can make ample use of the training yard facilities to learn how to work with each other after their extended vacation, or just get to know their newer coworkers in an environment closer to what their actual working conditions will actually be like.
The yard, as usual, isn't limited solely to nightrunners. Anyone who wants to work on their physical or magical skills are welcome, as well as anyone from the other departments who have anything they might want to test out that requires a combatant, for some reason.
Lambert's generally a constant presence at the fringes, sometimes participating in exercise or sparring himself, but mostly just watching and making sure no one's about to put someone's eye out or break the equipment, because that would be bad for obvious reasons.

Looooots of things Strange.
Next to him is his fish bag he got from Joker and the collection of sandwiches has diminished as he's eaten at least three. On his four, he's chewing before speaking, "Did you like what you saw, Mister Strange?" He grins at his suggestion, "I think Mister Ram already has his hands full with you. Besides, he couldn't handle me and everything I have to offer."
no subject
"I wouldn't call myself a handful," says the person in the running for the Pissed Off The Most Fae Award. He is a handful and he knows it, but for some reason that he doesn't know why, Strange can't help but push back at Tyki calling him trouble. He's been good lately! Lambert's got his hands full with other people, not just him!
And besides, there are more important things to badger the man about. "Everything you have to offer? I know about your act and now about your physical fitness, I hope that's just it! You'll put us all to shame if you've got more to offer than that!"
no subject
But as to what he had to offer, Tyki's grin keeps getting wider as he unfolds another sandwich from the plastic wrapper and plucks another to offer it to Strange, "Sandwich?" Just look at that grin Strange, "I haven't shown all of my cards. There is a lot more I can do." He's not even sure how many have actually figured out how his magic works. He definitely hasn't shown his ability to reject either in order to create vacuums. No one has seen his Dark Matter except for Princess in the Underbelly.
no subject
Which is the truth and sounds much better than being called a handful, of all things.
But oooh, food, he'll take it. As Tyki offers him a sandwich, Strange happily accepts. "Thank you," he responds, before unwrapping it. He listens to Tyki as he starts unwrapping the food. Strange is a man averse to secrets—years of people not telling you things that could have easily made your life better'll do that to you. But as much as he wants to badger Tyki and find out what he can do, he trusts the man. Surely he's just keeping this secret for a good reason, right?
"In that case, I hope I can see the full extent of what you can do at some point in time."
no subject
In truth whatever Tyki hasn't shown yet is highly destructive and it was for the betterment of the carnival that he never had to show those powers. Still, he does like to indulge and it wasn't that he was unwilling to display them. One in particular was rather draining he found since his arrival in the carnival. His Dark Matter he could sustain for a long time since it was apart of him.
"I would suggest a magical duel but I wouldn't want to hurt you nor destroy anything around me. The Ringmaster wouldn't like that. But that is possible that I can show you eventually."
no subject
"I'll admit, I would like a duel. If you get too rambunctious, I'll simply nullify your magic—and it should actually work this time!"
Though, come to think of it, did Tyki know that Strange had figured out spellbreaking in the first place? When he kissed the man in an attempt to break the Prince's thrall, he didn't really explain to Tyki just what the hell he was doing. Strange's expression shifts to something a bit contemplative as he takes another bite out of his sandwich.
no subject
"Oh, is that what you were trying to do?" he says after a moment's thought when 'this time' is mentioned. "I know I don't compare to your lovely wife~♥"
But no he's not aware that he's figured it out but now he's interested, "The question is if you could get close enough to me to do so unless kissing is no longer involved."
no subject
Though, as the conversation continues, that wry smile stays firmly put on Strange's face. "We'll have to see about that, won't we. You never know, Mister Mykk, I might have a trick or two up my sleeve as well."
And in this case, he certainly does. Strange has been working on a way to access that spellbreaking magic with a verbal incantation instead of a physical trigger...it's just that for some reason, kissing works the best. Magic's weird, that's what he's sticking with.
no subject
"Only because I am reluctant to actually hurt you." Because if this was a real fight, the first he would do was rip out Strange's throat or remove his vocal cords. "But it is just a duel and I would hope you are capable of defending yourself properly." Not that he doubts Strange's magic.
no subject
And anyway, he'd just turn to smoke if things got too bad. A winning strategy!
"Besides, I think we'll both have to pull back slightly and think more carefully. I doubt Joker would want either of his magicians maimed before the start of performance week." The last thing they needed were the supervisors fussing at them both for getting each other hurt.
no subject
Strange is going to be in for a rude awakening when he shows him he can grab that smoke with his Power to Choose.
"I don't think he'd lecture us that much but you are right this time. Though I might get one from Childermass. Perhaps we should wait until after Performance week?"
no subject
"Speaking of Childermass, what do you think of the man? We're from the same world, but he never was my supervisor in the carnival—and to be honest, the fact that he agreed to be a supervisor in the first place took me by surprise."
no subject
It's a rare thing but Tyki's gone silent for the moment as he looks over Strange. In truth he knows nothing about the man and much like the 'friendliness' that Tyki displays towards Allen he has no idea if Strange is actually an enemy of Childermass' or a friend. Lines blurred when it came to no killing and no pain allowed to carnival members you worked with.
"Why is that? Does he not seem the supervisor type?" he questions with a firm curiosity. "Boss is someone I respect. He hides but in my opinion that is for good reason." He, in Tyki's opinion, was also a very kind man when he wanted to be even if a bit unfair just to keep someone in line.
Also, he respected Childermass enough not to say things such as 'He's not as cold as he seems' or anything that would ruin the appearance of the Acquisitioner. "I also know that if I knew anything special that you didn't now, given you are from his world, he'd likely not appreciate me saying anything."
no subject
Though, Tyki's tight-lipped nature makes Strange scowl a little, frowning to himself. Dammit, he asked this question purely for gossip purposes! The fact that Tyki's not joining in is annoying as hell.
"I don't care what he'd appreciate or not," Strange grumbles, though he knows it's not true. "I just want to know more about him." Since Childermass has a big ol'habit of not telling Strange himself. Spying like a creep can only go so far.
no subject
It's interesting, isn't it? Tyki loved to talk and gossip. He loved to tease and speak of others with a hint of mischief. Yet here he was tight lipped about anything that Childermass had told him.
"So do I. It's why I ask directly. Sometimes he tells me things and sometimes he doesn't. The boss has his reasons. But I am grateful for the man. He didn't have to come get me at the Manor and yet he did." He didn't have to take care of his drunken self out in the snow but Childermass had let him stay the night. "His past, his present, his thoughts for the future."
no subject
Still, he remains quiet for a bit as Strange listens to Tyki continue to talk. And hmm. Strange didn't know that Childermass was the one who ended up yanking Tyki back to the carnival during that manor nonsense. That's...interesting.
"I suppose it's just my luck to ask about the one person you refuse to talk about," Strange teases. Because he knows Tyki likes to talk about as much as he does.
no subject
He peels his sandwich apart with a faint bite while he listens to Strange and he'll wipe his mouth on the back of his glove since he forgot his napkins at the trailer. "There are subtle things I don't mind talking about the boss. The man is uncomfortably deadpan constantly and has a tone that makes you question if he's serious or not." But again, that was because it was another way that Childermass can hide.
"I am sorry I am disappointing you so~"
no subject
He takes another bite of his sandwich, chewing and swallowing as he looks over at Tyki. Uncomfortably deadpan, remarkably good at not showing if he's joking, dangit Tyki these are things about Childermass that Strange already knew. Which, on reflection, is probably the reason why Tyki's mentioning that in the first place.
At his last statement, Strange shrugs. "It's no great loss. I'll simply find someone else to gossip with."
no subject
He laughs as words tumble out of his mouth, "No great loss? My friend, you thrive on gossip and so do I. It strains me not to talk about the boss but I have a high respect for him. Unlike Childermass, who hides everything about him so well, your emotions are easy to read akin to a book. You're disappointed just as you were torn and almost looked as if you were grieving for some reason around your wife."
no subject
By now, the sandwich is pretty much vanished: Strange polished that sucker off fairly quick. He chews and swallows before he continues talking.
"Anyway, you're not the only person in the carnival I can gossip with and not the only member of acquisitions who I can bother with questions." But let's be real, he's going to be the only member of acquisitions that Strange bothers because Cole is weird and Zangetsu is slightly terrifying.
no subject
Tyki grins a little wider than he should. Maybe it is because he would love for Strange to talk to Zangetsu and experience the vulgar repetition of the man. Tyki personally loved talking to Zangetsu. Cole was someone Tyki had yet to experience because much like Childermass he often hid. "Oh, I know. I'm just the only one like you on Acquisitions. But I understand~"
no subject
It's a good idea. After all, Strange knows that he would be tight-lipped if he had to talk about certain people. It only makes sense that Tyki might be the same. But someone who had a different opinion or might just be more careless with gossip to begin with...well, who knows how that conversation would go?
no subject
He sets a hand on the object he was sitting on and rises to his feet as it lightly spins underneath him. His balance is on point regardless and he regains his footing with ease, "Mister Strange. I sometimes forget that you have such a passion for knowledge, understanding, and information that when you don't receive it you get extremely frustrated. Please don't change but I'll remove myself if I am indeed a bother. Not that you, in any case, bother me with gossip. I enjoy it."
But then he looks away from Strange, his expression changing to a calm look as his hands fold behind his back like he's trying to compose himself, "But I will tell you one thing. Back in the manor, when all was said and done, and he came to fetch me along with Zangetsu... I have never seen the man so pale and almost..." Scared...? Even Tyki's not sure of that. "I never want to see that look on his face again. So forgive me if I have soured the mood."
no subject
That confused frown still stays on Strange's face as Tyki goes from laughing (okay) to calm (okay???) all in the span of a few seconds. Having turned into smoke to get up here in the first place, Strange is still sitting still as Tyki stands up. He'll move after the other man gets out of breathing range, he knows he's a smidge poisonous.
Though, the information about Childermass in the manor...Strange can't help but nod at that. "He pulled off a remarkably dangerous heist only to come back to everything literally falling apart. I don't blame the man for being a bit off."
no subject
"I had to ask to get all of those pieces filled in. Despite my eagerness to assist and all of my efforts to be careful, I still left my room. It doesn't matter my intentions but you know that story already." He had talked about it at the hot springs when he was sick.
"I don't want to be a danger to him even by word of mouth." Because he was a danger and with his arm extending outwards Strange will start to notice the swirling energy around his arm starting to manifest into a brighter color. It's alarmingly quick the way his Dark Matter, bright purple and coursing, surges around his arm to his fingertips. He can watch as that sandwich tears itself apart in his hands, plastic and all until it is nothing, "Had I not been stopped as quick as I had been things might've turned out for the worse. I understand he has a lot on his plate."
