let's get down to business
Who: Nightrunners and whoever wants to make use of the training yard for whatever reason.
When: S2 D1-D5
Where: The Training Yard
What: Training, or pointing and laughing at people training.
Warnings: Explosions and swearing, probably.
Though it's never really been off-limits, once they're down off the moon, Lambert wastes little time informing the nightrunners he officially expects them to get back to training and getting in shape. They can make ample use of the training yard facilities to learn how to work with each other after their extended vacation, or just get to know their newer coworkers in an environment closer to what their actual working conditions will actually be like.
The yard, as usual, isn't limited solely to nightrunners. Anyone who wants to work on their physical or magical skills are welcome, as well as anyone from the other departments who have anything they might want to test out that requires a combatant, for some reason.
Lambert's generally a constant presence at the fringes, sometimes participating in exercise or sparring himself, but mostly just watching and making sure no one's about to put someone's eye out or break the equipment, because that would be bad for obvious reasons.
[ ooc; this is an open log, so bring your own toplevel! ]

He absently swings his fist in the air for emphasis. That's dedication, right? Admirable, and totally not obsessively focused.
He leans back on his hands. "Besides, this is really important to me." Rita knows that already, how much he wants to protect his friends. It's no less earnest in his tone even after their vacation. He told himself he wouldn't be so weak anymore, and now he's seeing it through. He just has a lot of catching up to do.
"You still have to practice magic to stay good at it, right?" That's how every other skill works.

"It's not exactly the same as practicing a physical activity, though. For me, at least half of it is about refreshing and improving my understanding of magic. Reading books and observing magic are good ways to keep my skills sharp... and it can inspire me to come up with new spells, too."

Which reminds him of something. Yuya perks up and turns to Rita with a wide grin. "Oh, I got your present! Thanks!" He doesn't think he's told her yet, so now's as good a time as any. "Is it that someplace you've been? Kor... Kogorh?"

"Y, yeah... It's pretty far from Aspio, but my travels took me there a couple of times." For a moment, there's a distant, nostalgic look in her eyes. "I learned a lot about the nature of blastia while I was there... Can't say I'd ever want to make that trek through the desert again, though."
no subject
"Is that when you decided to turn the blastia into spirits?" It's completely random guessing, but Yuya doesn't know the context that led Rita from researching blastia to creating spirits.

But hearing that Yuya's never been to a desert makes Rita realize she hardly knows anything about his world. "What is your home like, anyway?"

"I'm from Maiami City, which is on the coast of Japan. It's on Earth, like Portland! The year is pretty close too, actually, and the technology is similar... except there wasn't Duel Monsters or solid vision, and we don't have angels or fae so it wasn't the same place."
He shrugs. "The culture's different, but otherwise it's a lot like that. There's no magic like what you and Mr. Strange have, though."
no subject
"You have no magic, but you have spirits, right? I've been reading about them in those books you gave me. That's... some sort of magic, right?" At least, there's always been an association between magic and spirits whenever Rita's encountered them.

The book from Japan definitely touched upon that, depending how much of it Rita's read. Not in the context of the cards, but the benefits and follies of spirits and gods sharing their power with humans. Proper respect is usually a common theme.
