What: After all the rescues team return, it will be matter of tending to the wounded and getting the hell out of dodge. The Ringmaster can handle the fleeing part, but someone will need to look after those in the medical tent. Or, maybe, you just want to show up and ask what the hell happened.
Warnings: Some messed up consequences of faerie fuckery.

IN REPAIR↴ As the minutes tick past, all four rescue groups will eventually return. Everyone in the carnival is encouraged to help out, ensuring that the rescues and victims both are taken care of after the fact. You can tag in here as rescuers taking care of business around the carnival, victims recovering, or other workers checking in to see what's going on. This log is for general aftermath threads, made by anyone.

...Stars above, it's the return of the purrs. Peridot can scarcely believe her ears, opening her eyes with surprise to look at Lapis to confirm that the sound is, in fact, coming from her. This ALSO is something she hasn't experienced since the Celebration?

She doesn't want to interrupt it. It's a sound that makes her far more giddy than she has any right to be just sitting next to someone, but here they both are. Peridot savors it for another minute or so before speaking.

"Hey... Lapis?"

Lapis doesn't really move as Peridot speaks up, and she doesn't open her eyes, but she does respond. "Yeah?" It's comfortable here, against Peridot. It's not the hammock, but it'll do.

[periphrasing]

Dammit, she didn't open her eyes. Why didn't she open her eyes!? That's what Peridot expected based on her definitely correct calculations! She'd speak up, Lapis would respond and look at her, and then Peridot would take the opportunity to plant a kiss on her cheek-- It would have been perfect! It SHOULD have been perfect, a surprise kiss with just the right amount of surprise! As things are right now, if she makes the move, Lapis will be COMPLETELY unsuspecting, and then she'll probably take not being given the chance to say no REALLY badly!

Now Peridot has to come up with some sort of save on the fly. "I-- Ummmmmm. Do you... Maybe want to take a nap here? Together?"

Nailed it.

"But you don't normally sleep." Lapis points out, finally opening her eyes and looking a bit surprised? The purring has stopped now, but that's because Lapis is putting more focus into something else. "Do you not feel well?"

[periphrasing]

She blinks with surprise. "Huh--? No no no-- I feel fine! Honest! I..." Peridot turns her head and glances away briefly, grinning a sad, anxious smile. Her cheeks are hot with embarrassment, and she subconsciously curls her tail a little more firmly against Lapis's leg, like she's frightened that the other gem might move away suddenly or get up without warning. "I just think a nap just sounds... Really nice right about now. You know?"

"Well... You're not wrong. A nap would be pretty great right about now." Especially the chance to just think about nothing for a bit. "I don't know. It just seems a little weird that you wanna nap. With me, I mean." Not that she's opposed, or anything, it's just... Weird.

[periphrasing]

"It's.... weird?" Peridot says quietly, looking sort of dismayed. "It's weird. Why is it weird?"

Did she do something wrong!?

[mirrortide]

"You just normally don't want to, is all. Especially with me. And why would you? You have Amethyst, after all, so it's not like you need to nap with me to begin with." Lapis knows she's not first choice, and she's... Sort of made her peace with that. She doesn't like it, but, it's fine. Amethyst is probably better than her in a lot of ways anyway.

[periphrasing]

Dismay turns to confusion.

"Amethyst and I don't have exclusive nap rights with one another," Peridot says, trying to be gentle. "Sometimes I want to take a nap with her, but right now I just want to take a nap with you."

She pauses.

"Also I don't usually take naps with you because you're usually in your hammock, and there isn't exactly room for the both of us in there," she points out.

Lapis rubs her free arm nervously. "There's room for both of us." She insists, awkwardly, though she still seems quiet as she's talking. It's... a free offer, if Peridot ever wants to join her in it?

Not that Lapis knows why she would, because even if she's saying that Amethyst doesn't have exclusive nap rights, it sort of feels that way.

[periphrasing]

Peridot blinks at her, staring blankly... and then smiles.

"Well. I will try to keep that in mind whenever future nap prospects present themselves," she declares, and promptly presses herself back against Lapis's side.
