⇨ THE EPILOGUE

Who: Everyone!
When: Day 61
Where: The Carnival
What: After all the rescues team return, it will be matter of tending to the wounded and getting the hell out of dodge. The Ringmaster can handle the fleeing part, but someone will need to look after those in the medical tent. Or, maybe, you just want to show up and ask what the hell happened.
Warnings: Some messed up consequences of faerie fuckery.

IN REPAIR

As the minutes tick past, all four rescue groups will eventually return. Everyone in the carnival is encouraged to help out, ensuring that the rescues and victims both are taken care of after the fact. You can tag in here as rescuers taking care of business around the carnival, victims recovering, or other workers checking in to see what's going on. This log is for general aftermath threads, made by anyone.

Steven lowers his hands. He doesn't really know why he tried. His head feels light and his limbs feel heavy. He moves to sit down on the bed again.

"Yeah. I guess they do," he says more quietly, wrapping his arms around his knees. "They feel wrong when they happen to you, too. Or anybody."

He stares at the bed in front of him.

"You should go," he finally says.

The thing is, Jasper does kind of want to get her head around what the heck these gems are thinking. It's so incomprehensible to her that they act the way they do, and every new thing she hears is just more and more perplexing. And the answers she gets are never anything she can accept.

It doesn't feel wrong to her, when it happens to her. She knows that whatever happens to her, she deserves it. She can accept that. It must just be some kind of irreconcilable defect in their way of thinking.

"... The doctor said I should watch you," she says, frowning.

"No...you should listen to Steven, now," Herbert calls, projecting like an actor from over by the chemistry set, hands in the pockets of his labcoat.

"I don't want you to be here right now," he says, barely holding back the fact that he's about to cry. He doesn't want to cry at her, or for her to think he's a show he's putting on for her sake. It really isn't.

She frowns at Herbert.

Then she frowns at Steven again.

Then she walks off stiffly without another word.

That was a lot of....exertion and yelling that Herbert wasn't really sure if it would be beneficial to interrupt or if it would be better to let it run its course. Honestly, he's still not sure. This is why he is going into a field where his patients are preferably unconscious or dead. He sort of stiffly walks over with a glass of water and puts it on the side table beside Steven's cot.

"Do you. Want the curtain back. For privacy." He's not actually looking at Steven's face, he's kind of looking awkwardly over his shoulder.
