⇨ CAMPING GROUNDS

Who: Everybody!
When: Day 64
Where: The Camping Grounds
What: While the Ringmaster attempts to purge the carnival of magical tracing spells and deal with the angry fire fae in her belly, everyone else is getting sent on an emergency camping trip with some unusual local fauna.
Warnings: Camping.

CRYPTIC CAMPGROUNDS

You're given about three hours to prepare, after the Ringmaster tells you her plans for the coming week. There is a vast selection of camping equipment at your disposal, and the means to take along enough food for the length of the stay. The wilderness of the planet you're left on is nearly idyllic, but some people just don't like the great outdoors.

CRYPTOZOOLOGY: As it turns out, the carnival won't be alone here. There is a varied ecosystem of cryptids to be found as well, living in relative peace and mostly reacting to the newcomers with curiousity. More details can be found on the plotting post. You are free to NPC the cryptids as much as you need to, as long as you stick to the behaviours described.

DREAMSHARING: There is a player plot going on which will allow characters to share dreams! These are specifically more dreams than nightmares, and the mushi-adept characters will be here to help.

CHILLAX: There isn't any plot twist for this setting, so this is mostly an opportunity to decompress from the last plot and get ready for the future. The Ringmaster will show up occasionally to help with needed medical treatments and check on things, but won't stick around for long.

He automatically puts his hands up in a warding or placating gesture with a laugh the moment she flinches, doing his best to look harmless, only putting his hands down himself when she forces herself to relax.

He does take her answer as 'permission' to rifle through the notes though. "Compilations huh. Does seem like a good idea ta fill stuff in while we actually have a minute," he crouches down by the Silver Mirror ones first, lifting some of the pages curiously.

Fortunately, Rita doesn't mind too much if he looks through it. The first two pages are a summary Rita has written of the information found about the Mirror, while the subsequent pages are word-for-word copies of the texts their allies have found in the library.

"You might want to familiarize yourself with that, if you haven't already," Rita comments, her gaze drifting back to the notebook she's been writing in. "Could be our next stop."

"Roger~" he hums as he settles on the grass to read through them. He doesn't have a memory like Bon, but he wouldn't be any good at his job if he couldn't at least absorb and convey the general gist when it comes to information like this.

When he gets to the end he perks a bit, noticing something missing. "Oh right, I never got around ta sharing the rest of that page I found. There was a sentence in there talking about the Silver Mirror too. Like it's personality or something?"

He digs around in his pocket for his phone.

That sure gets her attention. Rita's head snaps up from her notes, her eyes wide. "Its... personality?" What the hell could that mean?

She hops to her feet and steps closer to him, eager to see whatever he's about to show her.

Thankfully it's still early on in the trip and Shima's phone still has plenty enough juice left that he doesn't have to rush as he swipes through his photos until he arrives at a picture of a scrap of scroll with this written on it. He zooms it in and turns the screen to her so she can read it.

"I mean that's kinda what it seems like anyway. Actually I guess the Mirror sounds like it's the least active of 'em. Just a 'silent witness', whatever that means."
anti_nonsense: (wait lemme see that)

Rita squints at the screen, then seems to remember the notebook in her hand. She flips to a fresh page and starts copying the words down.

"I'll take a silent witness over whatever you'd call the Blue Rose," she grumbles, realizing as she says it that the passage in question does, in fact, mention the Rose's nature. "Maybe that means the Mirror won't give us any trouble after we've secured it."

“Wouldn’t that be lucky,” Shima laughs, willing to entertain the idea even if he doesn’t really believe that.
anti_nonsense: (You can't be serious.)

It doesn't take long to finish making the copy, and Rita takes a step back to indicate she's done. As she does, she looks over the words once again.

"This 'Beast' sounds like a whole other story, though... something with thoughts, dream, a desire for freedom? How the hell are we supposed to just acquire a living being...?" wonders Rita, who literally did that in her last mission. It may be apparent that that's more of a moral question than a logistical one.

Aw... disappointed, but he's playing studious right now so he doesn't pull out any stupid pick-up lines yet.

"I had a couple people suggest making friends with it when I put the last bit on the radio, haha. Well, if these Miracles are really gonna end an age of war too there's probably some hope for that idea."
anti_nonsense: (Sorry. I don't speak Stupid.)

"Some people around here are pretty naive, if you ask me," Rita retorts, looking doubtful. "It'd be nice and convenient if we could convince it to come with us, but what are we going to do if it doesn't want to?"

Force it...? And for how long? Until the Courts stop warring? Forever?
