⇨ CAMPING GROUNDS

Who: Everybody!
When: Day 64
Where: The Camping Grounds
What: While the Ringmaster attempts to purge the carnival of magical tracing spells and deal with the angry fire fae in her belly, everyone else is getting sent on an emergency camping trip with some unusual local fauna.
Warnings: Camping.

CRYPTIC CAMPGROUNDS

You're given about three hours to prepare, after the Ringmaster tells you her plans for the coming week. There is a vast selection of camping equipment at your disposal, and the means to take along enough food for the length of the stay. The wilderness of the planet you're left on is nearly idyllic, but some people just don't like the great outdoors.

CRYPTOZOOLOGY: As it turns out, the carnival won't be alone here. There is a varied ecosystem of cryptids to be found as well, living in relative peace and mostly reacting to the newcomers with curiousity. More details can be found on the plotting post. You are free to NPC the cryptids as much as you need to, as long as you stick to the behaviours described.

DREAMSHARING: There is a player plot going on which will allow characters to share dreams! These are specifically more dreams than nightmares, and the mushi-adept characters will be here to help.

CHILLAX: There isn't any plot twist for this setting, so this is mostly an opportunity to decompress from the last plot and get ready for the future. The Ringmaster will show up occasionally to help with needed medical treatments and check on things, but won't stick around for long.

"My... grip?" Is he asking to hold the wing still? He flexes his hand absently.

"Good, I think. What is it you need me to do?" He approaches, careful not to touch Herbert until given the go ahead. It looks like a mess, but Herbert doesn't seem to be in an especial amount of pain so it probably isn't severe. Still.

"You should clean this off."

"Oh, eventually..." says Herbert, reaching back to undo the buttons of his un-stainable labcoat. Thank goodness for Carly's Solstice gift. He pulls it off his arms and then up over his wings to avoid the pinfeathers entirely before drawing his left wing curving forward, as flat against his back as he can manage, grunting quietly as that jostles the broken feather slightly.

"Now I need you to pull that feather out. At the root--can you identify which one it is? You can use the coat, if you'd prefer to avoid getting blood on your hands but Ihi-hi'm not a wild bird, I've no diseases." That's a half chuckle, there: he's amused himself, at least, if no-one else.

Syrlya steps around Harbert's back, raising an eyebrow. "So, you want me to remove the damaged feather entirely?"

He doesn't know much about bird anatomy, but if that's what Herbert's asking for... he will, at least, reach to take the offered coat just so they aren't smearing blood absolutely everywhere. The tree already looks like a murder scene.

One he has the coat in hand, he carefully brushes his hand over Herbert's wing, trying to locate the damaged feather.

There are a lot of little tufty-ended stubby feather tubes across almost the entire span of Herbert's wings. They got really burnt up when he tried to get through Ignatius' fire wall, so the new feather growth is really all there is to Herbert's wings at the moment outside of down and intermittent partial feathers that haven't been moulted yet. Thus it's not as difficult as it might otherwise be to determine the broken feather.

Herbert helps out by making a close-mouthed pained sound when Syrlya brushes over it, but it's not too difficult to identify which new feather is snapped after that point.

"Yes: it will help stop the bleeding." He hopes. It should, anyway. He's really only recently started essentially training as a vet.
