Where: The Camping Grounds
What: While the Ringmaster attempts to purge the carnival of magical tracing spells and deal with the angry fire fae in her belly, everyone else is getting sent on an emergency camping trip with some unusual local fauna.

CRYPTIC CAMPGROUNDS↴ You're given about three hours to prepare, after the Ringmaster tells you her plans for the coming week. There is a vast selection of camping equipment at your disposal, and the means to take along enough food for the length of the stay. The wilderness of the planet you're left on is nearly idyllic, but some people just don't like the great outdoors. ► CRYPTOZOOLOGY: As it turns out, the carnival won't be alone here. There is a varied ecosystem of cryptids to be found as well, living in relative peace and mostly reacting to the newcomers with curiousity. More details can be found on the plotting post. You are free to NPC the cryptids as much as you need to, as long as you stick to the behaviours described. ► DREAMSHARING: There is a player plot going on which will allow characters to share dreams! These are specifically more dreams than nightmares, and the mushi-adept characters will be here to help. ► CHILLAX: There isn't any plot twist for this setting, so this is mostly an opportunity to decompress from the last plot and get ready for the future. The Ringmaster will show up occasionally to help with needed medical treatments and check on things, but won't stick around for long.

Lauren smiles a bit, looking his brother over. It's clear Susan is eager to tell him something.

"What?" he asks, honestly stumped as to what Susan's news could be.

"I'm gonna be a nightrunner!" He knows Lauren might not be as excited as he is about it, but he's still excited anyway.

Oh. He pauses, taking that information in. He honestly isn't sure how he feels about it at first.

"Why?" he asks, after a moment, looking confused.

He isn't really surprised that Lauren looks more confused than happy, but he still smiles anyway.

"Because I want to help people. I don't want people to tell me I can't go, I want them to let me help."

He thinks about that. He knows Susan likes to help people and he also didn't like people telling Susan not to come look for him. Still, being a nightrunner is dangerous, especially with all the fae the carnival was going up again. Lauren didn't trust himself to be involved in a fight with fae again, but if Susan was a nightrunner there was no way for his brother to avoid it. Was he to stay at the carnival than, while his brother risked his life to help other? He didn't like that idea, but neither did he feel comfortable telling Susan he couldn't fight.

He frowns, before sitting down beside his brother.

"It's dangerous." he comments, looking to the ground.

He nods, leaning against Lauren.

"I know. But we've done lots of dangerous things before."

He nods too, putting an arm around his brother as Susan leans against him.

"But normally I'm there with you."

[wild_magic]

"I know. I like having you there. It's easy to fight when you're with me." He thinks a bit before he continues.

"But... I want everyone to know that I can do it. I know you know I can... But I have to prove to everyone else, that I can fight too. That I can take care of myself."

Lauren nods. He understands the reasons, he just doesn't like the solution.

"What if something happens to you?" Something like what happened to him. Or what if it's something even worse?

It's a reasonable concern, he knows, but he doesn't dwell on it.

"I won't be by myself, there's the other nightrunners. And you know I can take care of myself!"

"I know you will." he say's softly, finally looking towards Susan. He doesn't like it, but this might be for the best. If only he could put his worries aside.

"You're strong, you'd be a great nightrunner.

He nods and smiles as he looks back to his brother.

"Yeah. I'm gonna be the best nightrunner ever, that's what I told Lambert! I know I can do it. I just have to make sure the others say it's okay first."

He smiles, just a bit, amused at his brother's simple way of looking at things.

"Can I do anything to help you?"

[wild_magic]

He thinks for a second before he shakes his head.

"I don't think so... I think I need to do it by myself. You can help by just being here." Because when Lauren's here, everything is okay and easy.

He nods, and then he shifts to hug his brother, holding Susan close even if for only a moment.

"Be safe."

Susan is happy to be hugged, and he smiles as he hugs back.

"Don't worry, I will be!"

He holds him just a bit tighter, before releasing him.

"We should ask the Ringmaster about getting you an egg."

He makes a face at the suggestion.

"I don't wanna hatch out of an egg. It sounds gross."

Lauren doesn't even look at Susan when he answers.

"It's better than being dead."

He doesn't have an answer to that right away. He knows it's true, but he'd rather not think about the chance that he could die.

"And let me know if you can't convince the others."

[wild_magic]

He nods, quiet for a moment. He doesn't think Lauren could actually like. Help with convincing people, but he knows he just wants to know what's going on.

"I'll tell you."
