Performance and Dreamcatchers

Who: Joker, those working entertainment, and whoever wants to do fun arts and crafts
When: The day after the orientation, and then after the ringmaster's announcement
Where: The Big Tent and one of the side stages, respectively
What: Joker gets his performing ducks all in a row, and then does an arts and crafts corner. As you do. Mingle log!

At around ten in the morning, as he told a few other workers and anyone who'd been listening in on the walkie talkies, Joker starts to radio in those who are working under him to meet up in the big top. Hope you had breakfast and not a hangover! Of course, for anyone who tries not to attend, Joker will cheerfully hunt them down and bother them into going.

Sorry, mandatory, you know how it is.

It's later in the day, after the ringleaders' own announcement, that eventually Joker makes another of himself, this time to the general channel. It's an invitation to one of the side stages to make dreamcatchers together, for anyone who still craves company or simply doesn't know what the hell a dreamcatcher even is. Along with that, Joker has taken it upon himself to make sure signs advertising this are plastered all over the carnival.

Lauren (and Susan)

[Lauren has never had to introduce himself before and the very thought is mortifying. Still, everyone is going and saying their names so, he knows he can't not do it. Still, he waits until absolutely everyone else has given their intro before finally making himself actually step forward.]

Uh, I'm Lauren. From Faêrun, near the moonsea.


I don't really think I have any performance talents, but the sheet said Beast Tamer.


[That's it, that's the entire introduction. just ignore the small child standing beside him, he doesn't even work here.]

[Susan doesn't belong here, of course, but that hasn't stopped him from tagging along with his brother. It sounds more interesting than anything else going on, and he knows Lauren won't be very good at talking to people without him here. After Lauren's finished though he of course has to chime in.]

Because he can make animals do anything. And he can turn into them, too!

[He's helping!! Lauren has talents that he didn't share, so Susan did!]

It is too, if you're supposed to work with beasts then those things are really important!

I'm supposed to be taming them, not turning into them.

But that would make your show even better.

[Just the thought of changing in front of so many people has him blushing bright red.]

Hey, yeah it is!

[ Natsu pipes up from his spot. ]

Not everyone can do that, y'know. I can't. [ He knows folks who can, sure...but still! ] Can you turn into people, too? That could be really cool.

No. I can't.

[dragnerd]

Huh. That's too bad. Animals are nothin' to sniff at, though. Oh! If you turn into a bird, can you, like, fly?

[ Natsu can't fly. Well, not without help, at least. ]

[The reason Joker hasn't spoken up sooner is because he's been watching this happen and hiding his laughter behind a clenched fist. It's still obvious to tell, however, especially when he raises his head and his wide grin is in plain sight.]

So. What kind of animals have ya worked with before? Whether gettin' 'em ta do things or turnin' inta them.

Mostly wild animals I guess. Deer, wolves.

[He shrugs, not sure what else to say. He'd never really worked with animals in any kind of money making capacity.]

...Flying's fun.

[Hey, it’s better than nothing, right? Joker seems pleased, anyway.]

Good news is we got plenty of flyin’ critters! An aerial show here in the big top would be great, if ya could coordinate ‘em proper. They’re used ta folks, so I imagine it’d be easier than convincin’ a wild animal ta do somethin’... But feel free ta correct me there, ha.

[Truly a chatterbox, not at all like stoic Joker over here. He hums again, thinking.]

Fish?

[He laughs a bit at the question.]

No, fish are pretty easy.


Probably not ideal for a land performance though.

[Joker’s grin gets wider.]

And what if I told ya we had honest ta god flyin’ fish?

Oh, me too! I'm so glad I don't have to do this alone.

[Actually, the idea of doing it with someone else almost makes the idea almost tolerable.]

Will we do our performances at the same time?

[dragonsattendant]

I hope so. If we can combine our talents, it'll be easier on both of us, right?

[mylastchance]

Yeah. Especially if we're both new to this.

[He actually smiles, just a bit.]

I don't really know what a beast tamer is supposed to do even.

Me neither, but I think we're supposed to be showing off various kinds of animals. They might be big and scary....

It's okay. Even if they are big I'm sure we can handle it.
