What: The week begins as the time of the Animal Fair finally arrives! Meanwhile, the truth of this reality starts to be revealed, and forces both human and celestial alike attempt to take advantage of a rare opportunity.

BY ANY OTHER NAME↴ Tensions thicken as various supernaturally forces react to the events of the previous week. Something critical is afoot, and it's only a matter of time before things start coming to a head. It's time to find out more about what's happened to this world, and what will happen in its future. ► A NIGHT AT THE FAIR: From the night of the 7th to the morning of the 8th, the Animal Fair is officially in town. There is a top level down below with more information, though you can also RP content from this elsewhere if you wish. The host, who is very likely something called a Wyld Fae (if you discovered that ICly), will be present, but they will only be appearing to you of their own accord and attempting to track them down by force will be ineffective. Just kick back and relax! Fairs are supposed to be fun. ► THORNS IN YOUR SIDE: Culminating in a full fledged attack against the Sanctuary, it would seem that The Rose Queen is declaring war on the changeling population of Portland. Though the vicious attack of thorns against the safe house was eventually stopped, it wasn't without damage, and the black roses that caused it are still popping up around the city and threatening the places where homeless and lost changelings would be likely to congregate. It's obvious now that this is a serious threat - will it ever stop without an intervention? ► HELL ON EARTH: As Anath's march draws near, the first waves of her demons will be entering the city. Primarily acting as scouts and foot soldiers, these demons will be attempting to secure loyalty from the local demon populace, as well as taking out any angels they can manage to catch. It's a level of aggressiveness against heaven's forces that hasn't been seen for years, and it's a foreboding hint of things to come. These demons can be NPCed by anyone, and will mostly be thugs or manipulators who don't know much about Anath's plans but do know that you need to join their side. They are also rowdier than most of the demons in Portland, and are a threat to the innocent mortal populace as well, if they decide to try to get their kicks here. ► THE WIZARD POLICE: The Enlightenment Council seems to have demanded control of the local Circle chapter, and now backup has arrived. These mages are being sent out into the city as if they are a police force, and will be attempting to demand control of various common supernatural areas, as well as questioning community members that they run into. Whatever is going on, it seems to have resulted in the Council instituting what is essentially martial law... of course, not everyone sees any need to heed their demands. If you are a demon, warlock, or other rogue element, expect to be harassed or even attacked by them. These character can be NPCed, and if you need additional information you can ask the mods.

Sans, who has mostly just been sitting with a closed in posture looking sort of agitated since Joker and Psi showed up, suddenly looks over in 'Mamaroth's' direction, his pupils flaring bright. Well, this just solved him one problem... and that was deciding whether or not to say anything about what Nightshade had told him while he was imprisoned in her realm.

"You're what?" he manages to say at the same time as Prudence.

"A-yep," he confirms with all the nonchalance of someone discussing the weather. "'Bout two weeks ago, woke up here in 'Portland' inhabiting the body of this angel guy, Marmaroth."

He looks down at himself, then runs a hand through his long white hair. "I mean, it's a pretty close match, but I can tell ya -- where I come from, I ain't no angel. But unfortunately... I know less about this whole circus than you do. But I can tell you where we came from, at least."

Pru is skeptical, to say the least. Yet, after considering it for a moment, she frowns and - with a small gesture - resummons Marmaroth's letter from earlier. The scroll of light unfolds and her eyes swiftly scan the page.

I have no idea who you are and I am not Marmaroth.

So, this isn't some kind of spur of the moment deception meant to confuse anymore. For better or for the worse, this guy must believe that he is really someone else in Marmaroth's body. You can see her gears turning from the outside.

"So, that's what you meant..." She looks up at him. "But you can't remember how it came to be?"

Zangetsu can be a very deceptive person, but in this case, he's being perfectly honest. Lying wasn't going to get his ass back to the carnival any sooner, not with everyone as confused as they are. Including him!

He shakes his head. "Haven't the fuzziest. Ya see, I work for an interdimensional fae carnival. I know it sounds crazy, but... you know. Fae. We were set to arrive at our next location that day. But instead of pulling up to this world like we apparently normally would, this shit happened," another head shake, "I AM a new recruit but uh, this is not how I read the contract, you know?"

"Fae..." Pru repeats uncertainly. Like, she is factually aware that fae travel between dimensions, but... a carnival? What? This story would sound really fake in any other circumstances.

She frowns, considering.

"You came in with a fae? And you think that all of you companions did this? How many were there?"

Fae! A fae carnival. Because... of course it is. If it were any other dimension hopping being, it wouldn't make any sense. But fae.

"Christ. Beats me. Twenty? Thirty? Maybe less, maybe more?" He rubs the back of his head. "Like I said -- just joined up. But I ain't seen our Ringmaster anywhere, and that's what worries me."

"Your Ringmaster?" Pru prompts, carefully. She's just going to let Zangetsu talk for the moment, because he needs to get as much information about this as she can. Is the Ringmaster the fae he mentioned, then?

And he is happy as a clam to just keep talking. He likes to talk. Talking is fun! And unlike a certain strawberry asshole landlord, this chick actually seems to be listening!

"Don't know her real name, or even if she has one. She's the one who makes the contracts, pulls in people from all over the multiverse and offers them stuff in return for service to the carnival. I have to assume she's been dragged into this mess as well," he steeples his fingers in front of his face, looking down between them at the floor, "... And I suspect without memories, or incapacitated, since she hasn't come to track down her workers yet."
