Who: Everyone! But especially HARBINGERS!
When: S2:D16-22
Where: All over Wismuth!
What: As the Harbingers reveal themselves, those among the carnival that Creation has chosen will start to discover new powers within themselves. It's because they're magical girls, yo.
Warnings: Harbingers being assholes.

HARBINGERS OF VOID↴

On Day 16, the Harbingers begin revealing their new selves... in the form of wreaking havoc on the city! CY-Ren isn't looking for mass panic or serious structural damage - instead she wants constant annoyances and distractions, of the sort that will keep those that might be on her tail distracted from her true plans. However, when Creation is faced with the threat of twelve new Harbingers, it will have to fight in kind...

► HARBINGERS: Your job is to use your powers to create messes for other people to clean up! CY-Ren gives no specific instructions outside of a general framework... flex your powers! See what you can do. Don't destroy the city or anything, but give Creation a run for its money. She needs these civilians alive for her later plans.

► STAR GUARDIANS: Twelve members of the carnival have been chosen by Creation to fight in its name, even if they don't realize it yet. When confronted by the Harbinger's chaos, their Sparks will make themselves known in whatever form is appropriate to the character - and they will be asked if they are willing to use the power of their soul to fight the darkness. How this scene plays out can be flexible, but essentially they will find themselves faced with the question: are they willing to fight for the preservation of life? If they say yes, their Spark will emerge, and they will be able to trigger a magical girl transformation, as you do.

► CHARITY CONCERT: While everyone else is busy with the sudden rise of the Harbingers, CY-Ren's PR team is releasing a statement -- they will say that new information has revealed that there had been bomb threats made against the canceled concert, which are now being blamed for the damages. CY-Ren will make a personal statement, saying that in order to apologize for the failure of her previous performances, a new free to attend event is being planned for the near future - people who had tickets to the previous event and had to go home early get top priority!

Lauren meanwhile is walking around covered in what could best be described as "pumpkin guts," after getting attacked by vegetable monsters at the farmers market. He doesn't look too happy about this fact either. He has pretty much zero clue what's going on, but things in Wismuth are complete and total chaos to the point that the normally shy and nervous druid is becoming just flat out irritated. That's when he see's Miko in some kind of stupid costume.

"Hey! Miko! Miko!!" If anyone here knew what was going on surely it would be someone like Miko. She was dressed weird and running around after all, with some kind of rabbit? Whatever. He just needed someone to tell him what the fuck was going on around here.

Susan also has no idea what's going on, of course, but as opposed to his brother he's a bit excited as it means that maybe there's something they can do to help save the day (or at least watch something interesting happen, one or the other). He's a little surprised when Lauren actually calls out to initiate conversation with someone, but he smiles and waves at Miko as Lauren calls to her anyway.

Miko looks over at Lauren, startled for a moment at hearing her name called, and-- oh yeah, it's this guy. And also Susan.

She waves back and makes her way over, hopping up to the two. "Hey! You guys seen anyone runnin' around in black and acting weird?"

"Anyone in black?" he asks, repeating the question in his confusion. It was such a vague question that he didn't even know how to answer it. Yes he had seen people wearing black. People wore black clothes. Miko normally wore something black. But how much black was necessary to fulfill her criteria?
Was any speck of black enough to qualify or did the outfit have to consist of nothing, but black. Was it a specific type of clothing that needed to be black? Multiple specific items?

It's vague questions and statements like these that always trip Lauren up during conversations. He doesn't know what kind of answer the person expects, and so he ends up stalling, thinking too long on how to answer and causing people to think he's just not very bright. However, it was rare that Lauren felt harried enough to actually show his disdain for the vagueness of the question, or to even ridicule it verbally.

"What do you mean running around in black? How weird? Because we've just been attacked by tomatoes, as you might have guessed and I consider that to be pretty weird even though I don't think any of them were in black, so I guess my answer is no I have not seen anyone 'running around in black and acting weird."

"Is it the black that makes them act weird?" But anyway, that's not the important part. He shakes his head too.

"But we didn't see that, anyway. Maybe we can help you look for them!"

"Tomatoes? Okay, yeah, see, that sounds like about the right level of weird. Was there anyone wearing black nearby? Like, a lot of black."

She shrugs and sort of waves her hands. "It's like-- okay, I don't think the clothes are making 'em act weird, but I think the same thing put the clothes on 'em that made 'em weird. Anyway, it'd be super cool if you could help out! I'm s'posed to be fighting them and stuff."

Of course Susan is there to tell her the real answer, which is that no they hadn't seen anyone matching her incredibly vague description. However when Miko mentions fighting Lauren remembers the reason he called her over here in the first place.

"What's going on? Why are you supposed to be fighting them?"

If she's supposed to be fighting them, then...

"Are they the bad guys? We're pretty good at finding and fighting bad guys! Guys wearing all black sound like they won't be too hard to find, either."

"Okay, uh-- short version, yeah, they're the bad guys, but they're uh... they're also people from the carnival, is the thing? So we can't kill 'em. It's..."

She sighs, and Screamo squeaks a couple times. Miko glances down at her, frowning. "Yeah, I know, I know, I'm gonna explain. So-- a bunch of people from the carnival got corrupted by this Void thing, 'n this lady Cy-Ren is controlling them now, and that's why they're wearing black and screwing stuff up. On the other hand some of us - like me - got picked by Creation, that's like, life and stuff, to keep 'em from screwing stuff up, but since they're screwing everything up everywhere and most of us don't even know what we're doing, more help would be appreciated? We just gotta stop 'em without killing 'em."

Simple enough, but really not, honestly.

The only thing Lauren can think as he listens is that this story sounds awfully familiar. Kidnapped members, people turning on their friends, it feels like it's all happened before, perhaps even multiple times.

"This carnival is cursed."

Susan would roll his eyes at Lauren's comment, but he's too caught up in the idea of trying to help to really think about that.

"Then, we can help! Some of my magic can stop and not kill, so I can just not use the... Dangerous spells. Finding Carnival people in black should be easy!"

"I mean, probably." She's not even gonna argue with Lauren here, okay, that's how ridiculous it all is.

She brightens up, though, at Susan's offer. "Sweet! And if there's one nearby we're missing, I bet Screamo will be a big help there." She rolls her eyes while the little rabbit by her side puffs up and squeaks.

Screamo, Lauren thought, was her pokemon, but then why was this rabbit puffing up and squeaking at the mention of him.

"Is Screamo here?"

Susan doesn't know Screamo but he can only assume it's the rabbit with her. But that doesn't explain how he can help, and so he looks to the rabbit curiously.

"How can he help? Is he good at finding things?"

Miko blinks, and looks from Lauren to the little rabbit. Then she stoops down and scoops said rabbit up, holding her forward as if it should've been obvious. "Yeah! She's right here. Just looks different from usual, that's all!"

She nods and tucks Screamo under her arm. "Somethin' like that! She can hear really good, and she's like.... basically super on-edge all the time. If she notices something she'll probably just yell at us a lot."

That sounds super helpful and not annoying at ALL.

"Great."

"Is that why that's her name?" Because if it is, that's a perfect name. Even if it isn't it's still perfect, though. Either way he looks around to see if he can think of somewhere to look.

"I'm not always good at noticing, but if she notices something I can definitely help. And Lauren too. Do you know where to start looking though...?"

"Sure is! Though she's not usually quite this loud." Even that gets another squeak, whether in offense or confirmation.

She shrugs and looks around. "Look for chaos, I guess. They're doing all kinds'a dumb crap, if we pick a direction we'll probably find one eventually."

"And so what if we do find and capture them?" Lauren asks, looking critical, "Is there anyway to actually fix them?""

"We should just find them first and worry about that part later." Honestly, why does Lauren have to figure it all out ahead of time? He's ready to go and try to save the day, so he can't understand his brother's continued questions.

"Exactly!" Jeez, Lauren. "Once we catch 'em, we can figure out what to do from there! But we gotta catch them first, which means we gotta get going!"

Lauren gives the sky an exasperated look.

"Why is going in without a plan the ideal in this situation?"

"So we can stop the bad guys!! There isn't time to make a plan when we have to stop them. So we can save them?" It's a little confusing honestly but he doesn't care about that part right now. Just the saving the day part.

"Uh, 'cuz making plans takes time, and that's something we don't have! But we'll have more of it if we can take some of 'em down so they can't keep screwing with stuff."

Obviously, definitely, of course. That's how it works.

"If you're gonna keep being difficult, Susan and I can just go take 'em on our own!"
