⇨ THE EPILOGUE
Who: Everyone!
When: Day 61
Where: The Carnival
What: After all the rescues team return, it will be matter of tending to the wounded and getting the hell out of dodge. The Ringmaster can handle the fleeing part, but someone will need to look after those in the medical tent. Or, maybe, you just want to show up and ask what the hell happened.
Warnings: Some messed up consequences of faerie fuckery.

IN REPAIR↴![]() As the minutes tick past, all four rescue groups will eventually return. Everyone in the carnival is encouraged to help out, ensuring that the rescues and victims both are taken care of after the fact. You can tag in here as rescuers taking care of business around the carnival, victims recovering, or other workers checking in to see what's going on. This log is for general aftermath threads, made by anyone. |

It's not something he's said to any of his friends, because he knows they'd be duty bound to prove him wrong. It's just, after this... he's starting to feel as if being faeblooded may follow him for the rest of his life. It isn't just a carnival change which will go away with time. It's part of him, now, and it's forever.
"I just... don't want this to be all there was."

"I didn't know what to do about Earth, and I super don't know what to do about this. It's like all the same stuff but worse, and it feels like none of the people who want to get me are ever going to understand..."

"... Then you have to defeat her," she says. Surely this is obvious???
no subject
"What," he snaps back, pushing himself up onto his knees. "Like my mom 'defeated' Pink Diamond?!"
no subject
Then she glares at him. "Yeah. Like that."

It all comes out at once. He can't hold it in.
"All you do is try to attack me and hurt my friends and ruin my life because of what I was born as, and if I try to do anything against you, you call me a CRIMINAL!"
no subject
"You--" She jabs an indignant orange finger at him. "You might not really be Rose Quartz, but your 'friends' are criminals! That Pearl, that fusion--? They're gems who turned against their Homeworld, it's nothing like fighting the fae!"

When everyone is already so much taller than you, looming loses its effectiveness.
"But if it's so REASONABLE to try to defeat anyone who messes with you, why don't you GET OFF OUR BACKS ABOUT IT!"
He's genuinely gone red in the face.
no subject
"Why would--" She makes a sort of growling huffing sound, her lower jaw separating as she does it. "They didn't treat them bad, they don't treat me badly--! You've got no idea what you're talking about, and what you're saying doesn't even make any sense!"
no subject
"That isn't good, Jasper!" he says, spreading his arms. "That isn't how good people treat each other! It's exactly how the FAE treat people!"

She makes a low, frustrated rumbling sound in her throat.
"Peridot said she does the kind of things you all do because it feels right," she says. "Is that where this comes from, too? All those things feel wrong to you?"
no subject
"Yeah. I guess they do," he says more quietly, wrapping his arms around his knees. "They feel wrong when they happen to you, too. Or anybody."
He stares at the bed in front of him.
"You should go," he finally says.

It doesn't feel wrong to her, when it happens to her. She knows that whatever happens to her, she deserves it. She can accept that. It must just be some kind of irreconcilable defect in their way of thinking.
"... The doctor said I should watch you," she says, frowning.

Then she frowns at Steven again.
Then she walks off stiffly without another word.

"Do you. Want the curtain back. For privacy." He's not actually looking at Steven's face, he's kind of looking awkwardly over his shoulder.
