CRYPTIC CAMPGROUNDS↴![]() You're given about three hours to prepare, after the Ringmaster tells you her plans for the coming week. There is a vast selection of camping equipment at your disposal, and the means to take along enough food for the length of the stay. The wilderness of the planet you're left on is nearly idyllic, but some people just don't like the great outdoors. ► CRYPTOZOOLOGY: As it turns out, the carnival won't be alone here. There is a varied ecosystem of cryptids to be found as well, living in relative peace and mostly reacting to the newcomers with curiousity. More details can be found on the plotting post. You are free to NPC the cryptids as much as you need to, as long as you stick to the behaviours described. ► DREAMSHARING: There is a player plot going on which will allow characters to share dreams! These are specifically more dreams than nightmares, and the mushi-adept characters will be here to help. ► CHILLAX: There isn't any plot twist for this setting, so this is mostly an opportunity to decompress from the last plot and get ready for the future. The Ringmaster will show up occasionally to help with needed medical treatments and check on things, but won't stick around for long. |
ANIMALS-!
Or, well...he's partly a tree. If Rhys didn't like the idea of the night crawler he is about to really hate the idea of what he backed into. While even parts of Gongenzaka's front have bark and leaves once it's waist down (and at 9 foot, the taur-beast is certainly far enough off the ground that 'waist down' is most of the area Rhys would come to), there is fur there as well.
Something that probably won't take too long to realize, even without the fact that Gongenzaka is about to speak.]
AUH.... A...Are you alright, sir?
Re: ANIMALS-!
[ and then he turned around and looked at who (WHAT?!) was talking to him. and -- ]
Are you a talking tree!?
[ don't shout, rhys. ]
no subject
[If there was any response he expected... ...It was not that. He actually backs off a step in shock in fact, ears flicking anxiously.] I- I-
I, the man Gongenzaka, am assuredly no tree..! [He stammers, sounding quite like he stepped out of a period drama.] T...though, I suppose, portions of my being...
no subject
[ rhys doesn't want a talking tree mad at him. but he also remembers conversations he's had with people about certain portions of themselves turning...strange because of their time here. ]
You're part tree? Because of this place?
no subject
...To an extent, certainly, though... ...such extreme change is quite rare, if you yourself are worried, [He assures the other, blinking. Honestly, he just seems to ATTRACT magic at this point, it's terrible.]
no subject
[ he'd heard about the changes already and while he wasn't exactly looking forward to it happening, he'd decided that a little change wouldn't be bad.
but full on being a tree? probably not. ]
How did it happen to you?
no subject
Significant exposure, I should add- more than even most supervisors have gathered over the course of a year or so. I, the man Gongenzaka...have simply been quite 'unlucky' at a few prior locations, [He insists. In fact, one major change came from Dying.
The tree came from being a video game boss while they visited a computer realm.]
no subject
[ it was a lot of name but then again, he was a lot of man, tree parts and all. ]
So, you're not a supervisor, just very unlucky? I hope you get hazard pay for that.
no subject
...I, the man Gongenzaka, imagine the 'hazard pay' would be such changes reversing over time once my contract has been fulfilled, actually... [He adds, not thinking too hard about it.]
no subject
[ rhys' tone actually softens a bit because between the luck of this guy and what he hopes happens to him when he finishes out almost makes hi a little sad. ]
Are you in pain?
no subject
Not for almost a year! [he answers, blinking. He sort of, well, signed for a second go after all. Anyway.] I, the man Gongenzaka assure you however, there is no pain- while it has taken some getting used to, it is more akin to...another form of hair, perhaps.
If anything, [He adds a little more weakly, gesturing with his mechanical arm,] It was the loss of a limb which took longer to adapt to!
no subject
[ rhys holds up his own robotic arm, waving it in the direction of gongenzaka's. ]
I have one of those too but I got mine willingly. I thought it'd give me an edge.
'look i get to infograb with my arm it was worth it' - my first thought oops
Y-You willfully removed your physical arm..!? [Suffice to say, this is the part he's most freaked about.] Wh- What sort of edge would purposefully doing such a thing ever offer..!?
[As one who only has a repulsor, he doesn't seem entirely aware of just how many rad things can be crammed into one arm!]
that is totally what it's good for! that and looking cool!
[ that's one reason! ]
But it's also a computer. Means I can scan over things and figure crap out that I might not know on my own. Handy when you're in a life threatening situation and need to find an escape!
no subject
It scans anything? In other words, it is capable of an immediate study of what is before you? [If it's doing that for stuff in other worlds after all, it's not pulling from any existing database...
That's pretty impressive!}
no subject
[ did the scans always turn out helpful and productive? no. but they still scanned and it was still cool! ]
Sometimes, I run into things that it doesn't really know about so it just...gives me what it can.
Since it's the one thing not on his change page; 'beast' features are 'fox' things, if Rhys scans 'm
[He sort of wonders what would happen if it scanned HIM. Would it say he was human, or mostly made of magic in the form of plants and animals? Would it give him his age?? (Would Rhys believe the age? He's only 14...)]
thank you!!
You asking me to scan you?
[ he hasn't used that ability much since he'd gotten here but maybe he should've been. a lot of people were interested in it and he got some useful information and impressed people so.
all good things. ]
he's a mess of a bear-horse-fox thing so I felt you could use as much help as possible :'D
It would be better to determine that here, in safety, than on the field where one's life could be affected. [Who knows- that arm could unlock a key answer in 'how to run the heck away'.]
Re: he's a mess of a bear-horse-fox thing so I felt you could use as much help as possible :'D
[ sure, he could do this. he lifts his arms and scans it over gongenzaka.
ANALYSIS COMPLETE
Name: Don't make me spell it, it's so long
Nickname: Man, Then
Is He The Man? You should ask him, he's the man.
Theme Song: What Does the Fox Say?
Why: LOOK AT HIM
Occupation: Duelist/Collector of Beast Features
Who's He Cooler Than: You, Rhys ]
You duel things?
THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL...
Please, don't call him 'the man'-
He begs of you-] It was able to tell that I am a duelist?
[Well! Since he Never Leaves Without It, he pulls out a deck of cards to answer that question.] Here- where I am from, it is a sort of sport; holograms of the monsters are summoned, and duelists work alongside them to defeat their opponent.
[It's that hologram part that makes it cool instead of REALLY NERDY, honestly.]
THANK YOU :D D:
You duel with cards?
[ how did that work and not make you a nerd? he had questions. ]
Do the cards come to life?
[ well, he'd said holograms.]
it's an all monster deck...joey wheeler would be proud tbh...
IT ATTACKS WITH ITS DEFENSE] In a sense, they certainly do..! Each card bears their own spirit, I should say...but it is through the holograms that each one is able to make their presence known. Some are larger than even I am, at this time! [He adds, laughing further.]The duels are conducted upon fields of Solid Vision as well- so it is never merely an 'arena', for that matter. There are also cards scattered about the fields...it is quite an active matter, even for those of the 'Steadfast' style, such as myself.
[Staying put is actually Ludicrously Hard when you're being attacked by dragons! Who knew.]
Re: it's an all monster deck...joey wheeler would be proud tbh...
[ he's sure it probably makes sense to those that are familiar with it but rhys is not. he still tries to follow along as best he can, nodding and looking t the cards and trying to picture what he was saying. ]
What if your cards suck?
no subject
For example- there are many spells which would no doubt be of use in other decks...but within my own, such a decision would be crippling! It is a matter of strategy- there are very few true 'bad cards', after all.
