Where: The Camping Grounds
What: While the Ringmaster attempts to purge the carnival of magical tracing spells and deal with the angry fire fae in her belly, everyone else is getting sent on an emergency camping trip with some unusual local fauna.

You're given about three hours to prepare, after the Ringmaster tells you her plans for the coming week. There is a vast selection of camping equipment at your disposal, and the means to take along enough food for the length of the stay. The wilderness of the planet you're left on is nearly idyllic, but some people just don't like the great outdoors.

► CRYPTOZOOLOGY: As it turns out, the carnival won't be alone here. There is a varied ecosystem of cryptids to be found as well, living in relative peace and mostly reacting to the newcomers with curiousity. More details can be found on the plotting post. You are free to NPC the cryptids as much as you need to, as long as you stick to the behaviours described.

► DREAMSHARING: There is a player plot going on which will allow characters to share dreams! These are specifically more dreams than nightmares, and the mushi-adept characters will be here to help.

► CHILLAX: There isn't any plot twist for this setting, so this is mostly an opportunity to decompress from the last plot and get ready for the future. The Ringmaster will show up occasionally to help with needed medical treatments and check on things, but won't stick around for long.

[ and then rhys would fake sleep with all his freaking might. ]

I'm there.

Oh, I'm sure you will be, Mister Rhys.

[He glances down at what Rhys has to offer in terms of sleeping and bedding.]

I'm going to go have a look around. Get my bearings. You going to be alright here by yourself?

I don't need a babysitter.

[ don't be gone too long!!! ]

I'll be fine.

Right, right.

[Tyki makes his way out and is in fact gone for quite a while. He loves to explore and the rich setting along with the potential of the water lets him eventually sink into a lazy manner. He had stopped to help a couple of other people settle in without invading their campsite, had taken precautions to ensure their sleep was restful by acquiring a few more items like a lantern for night time and a couple of extra sleeping bags in case they wanted to cushion where they would lay. Several hours pass into the mid-afternoon when Tyki finally returns with another bundle of things for the camp along with some fireword and kindling.

He's pushing aside the dirt on the ground and laying out a few stone. The wood is set aside and the kindling is settled in the middle of the pit.] Rhys, you still here?

[Whether Rhys is or isn't there, Tyki will find him.]

[rhys is...still there. he'd thought about exploring but thought better of it after awhile. instead, he tucked himself in the tent and tried to go to sleep to pass the time. he'd succeeded and was currently snoozing away, tiny snores drifting out through the thin walls of the tent. ]

[Oh, how vulnerable Rhys is right now. It's hard not to further encourage himself into bad behavior and the compulsion to tease is seated deep within his thoughts right now. He moves down into the tent without unzipping it, using his Power to Choose to pass right through the door flap without disturbing it.

It's then that he crouches down next to Rhys and pokes at his cheek lightly. He's practically hovering over him with a wide grin.] Sleeping already? Wake up, wake up~

[ at first, rhys thinks there's a bug on his cheek and he just bats at it to get it off. but when he still feels something above him, he opens his eyes and sees tyki above him, looming.

he's not proud of what he does next: he screams. ]

You can't sneak up on someone sleeping! I was trying to get my beauty rest!

[Tyki grins kind of wide for a moment. There was something about screams that made his day a whole lot brighter. It brings him an eerie satisfaction.]

What? Did you want me to somehow tell you I was coming in while you were sleeping? You can sleep later. I believe you said you would hunt tonight, Mister Rhys. The sooner you do, the sooner I can cook it.

You could have shaken me awake gently instead of just standing there.

[ but rhys has an idea that that wouldn't have been as fun for tyki. ]

What time is it? Is it nighttime? That's when the best animals come out.

[ stop bullshitting, rhys. ]

Maybe but where's the fun in that?

[He doesn't move from where he is, still looming, as he pulls back the tent flap to give him a better view of the late afternoon sky.]

Almost. Nightfall does bring out the best animals. Predators that hide during the day use the dark of night to obtain food. [Not that they'll find anything really dangerous out there.]

[ oh god, tyki was really going to make him hunt. he'd thought maybe he'd forget and they could just...eat moss or something. ]

So, you want to hunt now?

[ urgh. this was not going to go well. ]

Don't even want to warm up?

[Tyki is a man of pleasure and comfort. Like hell he was going to eat moss if he had other options.]

Now would be the optimal time, yes. Do you need a warm up, Mister Rhys?

[ what he needs to just go back to sleep. he wasn't that hungry but now he felt like he was being challenged and that was annoying. so, he hefts himself up and frowns. ]

What's there to hunt around here? I don't know this land.

Mostly some sort of rabbit with antlers. Small game should be easy enough for you. They are kind of fast.

[Not too fast enough for him but he's looking over Rhys again as he steps out of the tent. Maybe he can run fast enough.] I'll still gut it, debone it, and cook it. You just have to catch maybe two to four. Depending how much you eat.

Two to four. Great.

[ rhys knows that if he can get close to them, he might be able to stun them to where he can catch and take them back but if they're faster than he is, he's not going to have a chance. if that happened, he was going to have to bring back some berries or something to not come back empty handed. ]

I don't eat a lot.

[ so, he was gonna go for two, thank you. ]

Fine, I'll go -- hunt.

[He says with every bit of intention of implying that he was in fact coming with Rhys to watch this fiasco. Not to mention, he wasn't going to let Rhys come back empty-handed simply because he did intend on eating more than berries or the rubbish that laid around.]

You lead and I'll follow. I'll stay back if I have to in order to keep out of the way.

[ rhys stops, turns, stares at tyki because he thought he'd been about to go out alone. sure, it was nice to have backup but now he was going to have an audience too? ]

You don't have to come, you know. I'm a big boy.

I know you are but I'm going to come anyways. Just in case there is something bigger out there wanting our meal.

[Because he knows how to flatter an ego while offering reassurance at the same time. It's just something he doesn't do often. He's already walking as he points towards the treeline.] That way I don't have to run in last minute if you start screaming for help.

I would not scream for help.

[ he would stare wide eyed and then he'd run and then maybe he'd sceram. ]

You think I need a babysitter.

Noted. If I hear any screams I'll assume it is not you and won't come running.

[Not that he's really the type to play savior anyways. It just wasn't his style unless he was interested or had something to benefit.]

Well, if you don't you can prove me wrong.

You're all heart.

( rhys winces and turns towards the thick of the woods before starting forward. wasn't like he could avoid this. maybe he'd just grab some leaves and say he was becoming a vegetables. )

Don't blame me if no animals are out tonight.

Oh, they are out.

[After that he's quiet enough to follow behind Rhys at a reasonable distance not to be a complete creep. He's at least reaching distance if anything enough to snatch in case there was something hostile in these woods. Otherwise, his attitude comes off rather casual. He's waiting to be impressed by such a lanky man.]

( damn you, tyki.

rhys just sighs, stomps out into the woods like maybe his footfalls would scatter anything nearby and make it impossible to hunt. he knows he's said he could do this but does he actually wanna do this?

no.

under his breath, he starts saying: )

Here harmless, here here here. Come here and let me kill you.

[Tyki makes an amused sound under his breath at the way he's hunting. It's definitely unique and he would question whether or not Rhys had some sort of persuasive powers if he actually seemed to be that type.]

Is that how you hunt? [He might not be using his nicknames like he said he wouldn't for a week but he didn't mind picking.]

Yes.
