Where: The Summerlands
What: Ignatius and Gild portal everyone to the Summerlands, with hopes of appealing to the Summer Maiden for help. Meanwhile, the carnival gets the chance to relax in luxury as only tentatively welcome guests. Here is the location write up from the last time the carnival visited. Since then, of course, some things have changed.

THE SUN RISES↴

After taking the time to rest, Ignatius and Gild will be able to pool together their energy to portal the carnival (and the airship) to the Summerlands. Those still in Polaris will be left to their own devices for the moment as Gild intends to ask for the Summerlands aid in relocating them, hopefully as soon as possible. With the effort the carnival put into sorting things out in there, however, they should be fine on their own for a little while, at least.

They will arrive in the flowery fields at the base of the mountains, and soon the Summer Fae will notice their presence. Since the last time they visited, however, the atmosphere has changed.

► YOUR ARRIVAL: As the Summer Fae discover the group's arrival, it will quickly become apparent that there is a tension present that wasn't there any of the other times the carnival has visited. The Summer Maiden comes to greet the group personally, with an entourage of armed Summer Fae. They are not at all aggressive unless provoked, but there is clearly a wariness that is new. They seem uncertain about Ignatius being here, and while Gild will be able to do a lot of the talking and smooth things over, the Summer Maiden will deflect having a serious conversation about affairs until the carnival has taken time to 'rest.' It's more likely that the Maiden needs a moment to think over this new information before dealing with it.

► SUMMER CITY: After the Summer Fae become aware of everyone's presence, and the initial uncertainties are accommodated, they will invite you into their city. There are stairs that lead up the sides of the mountains, but thankfully there are also magical means of getting up there as well. The Summer Fae will be willing to help workers with the injured as needed, offering herbal remedies and healing magic to those that want it. You'll also be invited to join them for dinner, but it feels like more of a formality, and no one is obligated to take them up on it.

► SUMMER PEOPLE: The fae here will do their best to entertain these new visitors - but it doesn't seem that much happens here besides day after day of peaceful meditation and relaxation. It is not uncommon to see Summer Fae spent days doing exactly the same thing, whether that be enjoying the weather, listening to music, or dancing - the day and night periods may be similar to earth, but when you don't need rest it can all blur together just the same. Some of the fae work on feats of agriculture or craftsmanship, and while there is no particularly need to work in this place, they take pride in the fact that they do.

► FAMILIAR FACES: One very different thing about the Summerlands this go around is that there appears to be a small settlement built at the base of the mountains, filled entirely with the former residents of the Manor. Alyss and Reyna will explain that they set up a place to live down there with the Summer Fae's help, and that the fae seems to be trying to remain hands off except when they are needed. The Manor folk overall seem to be doing well, though there is some tension regarding their place in the Summerlands - they are clearly seen as refugees, and while the Summer Fae do their best to help them, the arrival of the carnival and the request for even more help with refugee aid seems to be making things awkward.

► OF THINGS TO COME: The Summer Maiden will remain distant for the first few days, but according to Gild and based on personal observation, it will seem that the news that the Ringmaster has been taken and the idea that even more desperate mortals are requesting to come here are putting her at significant ill ease. She's not rude or dismissive, but she seems reluctant to address the situation head on, though she has said that she will hold a meeting with the carnival later in the week to discuss everything in more detail. None of them seem particularly angry or resentful, but they seem to regard the carnival as an ill portent of things to come.

Considering the last thing that Yugo would want to do is land in the branches of a tree, there's definitely not a lot of obvious and logical places for him to have fallen from besides...

"More like I misfired with this jet pack thing that got put on me." He pauses soon after answering. "Or I guess I should call it a jump pack? Plasma booster? Whatever."

But soon enough he reigns himself back on topic. "Guess I should be glad it happened. I could've hit you instead of what I was aiming for...!"

"What were you aiming for?" The ground? Yuya moves around so he can get a look at Yugo's back. It's the first really close look he's had of his jetpack since they got out of Polaris, anyway.

"Does it hurt to use? Or not use?"

"Well I actually trying to blast that..." Give him a second as he retraces his trajectory. "That tree over there, as perfectly normal target practice you know."

Yugo sighs and his eyes follow where Yuya is moving until it's clear the other's intent is examining the jump pack up close.

"It uh... tickles a lot? While I'm charging up for either to take a shot or make a jump. Makes it hard to control which pipe I try to make the plasma go down."

Yuya purses his lips. At least it's not painful, even if the size is a little overwhelming to look at.

"The same stuff you breathe comes out of it?" Does that mean it's attached to his lungs? Worrying.

Yugo simply nods, since it's an easy yes or no question. He would rather not think about how exactly the jet pack works and the thought of needing to check at some point for his own health is equally a bit scary and uncomfortable to imagine.

"But hey-" And then he turns back around enough to drape an arm across Yuya's shoulders. "You haven't told me what you're up to out here yet."

"Eh--" Yuya looks up as he's shifted slightly off balance by Yugo putting his arm around his shoulders. It really makes the fae-induced height difference noticeable. He shrugs a shoulder. "I was just taking a walk."

They have a lot of free time after all. Maybe too much free time, if only because they can't relax 100%.

"Just a walk?" And then Yugo seems to recall something. "Because if you're up for getting some practice in today and wanna see how well that shield of yours still holds up to my plasma breath..."

What a wonderfully reckless idea.

"Course I wouldn't want to really hurt you! So I'd hope you're good at that thing by now in case my aim is actually decent...!"

Yuya'a a little taken aback. "By now? I've been good at it for awhile!"

It's definitely the most effective spell in his arsenal right now, being as strong as it can be when they're contending with things like fae. He just kind of protests the idea he'd be so incompetent not to have a handle on it by this point.

"Right, right. Of course you would be!"

How genuine or teasing Yugo's words are is something up for debate because the much taller Synchro brother suddenly tightens his hold enough to bring Yuya's head closer to his equally extra-muscular torso- then proceeds to ruffle his smaller Standard brother's hair with a noogie.

Ah so that's how it is now.

Yuya makes a choked sound as he's pulled in and his hair is disrupted more than it already is. "Hey, hey--!"

He tries to protest, but Yugo's definitely the stronger one between them.

Soon enough he does let him go though, right after it feels like Yuya's been inflicted with an adequate amount of sibling-induced 'suffering'. But then Yugo also adds a rough nudge with his fist at the other's shoulder for good measure, laughing as he does regardless if it lands.

"Man... where would we all be without the carnival, eh?"

Less traumatized.

That sounds like a lead in to something, though, so when Yuya leans back and tries to fix his hair he gives Yugo an expectant look like he's going to continue that train of thought.

That is also true.

"I just mean... yeah I really could go without knowing the horrible stuff we've seen and went through as much as anyone else." Understatement, but he's aware of that.

"But it's not gonna make me forget how fun it's been to perform when we were still putting on shows all over the multiverse. Or how many friends we've made that we might've never been able to meet before."

Briefly he pauses. "....Getting to know you face to face is pretty up there for me too. Dunno if once we get back home I should look forward to sorting things out with Yuto though." Let alone the idea of dealing with Yuri on a more daily basis.

"I think we still would have been able to... but I guess this way, we don't have to figure out how to balance being ourselves in one body."

Maybe it'd be one thing if they could truly be one again, but the truth was that they were pretty permanently broken fragments. It wasn't so hard to accept, after fourteen years like this. That very faint sense of incompleteness is pretty ignorable to Yuya.

"Yuto knows it wasn't you who kidnapped Ruri, now... but you should still talk. And when we get home, you can put on all sorts of shows with your dueling."

"Heh. I'd be down with that- the part about putting on the same kind of show."

Talking to Yuto being something worth doing whether he's uneasy about the idea or not... Yugo gives that the amount of thought it deserves.

"But when it comes to Yuto- yeah I'm hoping things can be cool between us. Just gonna have to see what happens when we get there."
