Performance and Dreamcatchers
Who: Joker, those working entertainment, and whoever wants to do fun arts and crafts
When: The day after the orientation, and then after the ringmaster's announcement
Where: The Big Tent and one of the side stages, respectively
What: Joker gets his performing ducks all in a row, and then does an arts and crafts corner. As you do. Mingle log!
At around ten in the morning, as he told a few other workers and anyone who'd been listening in on the walkie talkies, Joker starts to radio in those who are working under him to meet up in the big top. Hope you had breakfast and not a hangover! Of course, for anyone who tries not to attend, Joker will cheerfully hunt them down and bother them into going.
Sorry, mandatory, you know how it is.
It's later in the day, after the ringleaders' own announcement, that eventually Joker makes another of himself, this time to the general channel. It's an invitation to one of the side stages to make dreamcatchers together, for anyone who still craves company or simply doesn't know what the hell a dreamcatcher even is. Along with that, Joker has taken it upon himself to make sure signs advertising this are plastered all over the carnival.
He drew them himself. Please appreciate the scribbled stars.

[Tamaki ambles up, looking a little lost. He's not sure what he should be doing, and without any direction he'll probably end up wandering off to play games somewhere. But this is work, so he's trying to take it seriously.]
What does an acrobat do?
no subject
Well, a few different things, but we'll see what yer good at first.
[Trapeze would mean a partner, but... Joker taps his chin.]
Have ya ever heard of aerial silks?
no subject
[It's clear from his perplexed look that he has not.]
Throwing a scarf in the air?
[He waves his hand around in a (very) rough approximation of a scarf fluttering through the breeze.]
no subject
Ha! Not quite. The aerial part is supposed ta be you. Hold on- I used ta do a bit of it before I grew wings, so I’ll show ya. Follow me.
[Getting up, he starts to lead the way from where along and delicate looking strips of fabric loosely hang from somewhere high in the tent. They’re of all different widths, with some even big enough for someone to wrap themselves in them. He gestures to them.]
Basically, durin’ a performance, ya climb one of these and start ta do all sorts of acrobatic feats with ‘em- swingin’, twistin’ yerself up in ‘em, all sorts of stuff.
no subject
[Tamaki reaches out and tugs on one of the silks, giving it a tug. He looks a little skeptical about the whole thing, eyeing it critically.]
But won't they break?
[He doesn't see how fabrics like this could possibly hold him in the air. Shirts and things tear easily!]
no subject
[Perfect hangman pose with his hand free as he curls it around the back of his head.]
Nah, they don’t break.
no subject
Incredible! [He claps a little, too.] So they're really strong... and I'm going to do that?
no subject
[Still hanging upside down, he laughs brightly.]
There’s plenty that an acrobat can do, but I think somethin’ like this would suit ya best! Ya seem like yer pretty enough, after all, and that sort of appearance goes best with silks.
no subject
He grabs onto a silk again and gives it a little tug, more reassured this time, before looking up at Joker again.]
What should I do? To start?
no subject
[With a grunt, Joker tugs himself up and patiently untangles his feet before flapping back down to earth.]
Since we’re a bit short staffed when it comes ta other veterans, I’ll be trainin’ ya personally for this kinda thing. In the mornin’, I’ll make sure everyone is organized, so take that time ta stretch out- shoulders, hands, and yer legs in particular. I’ll show you through a few things throughout the rest of the day, and then at evenin’, I expect ya ta do some exercise ta keep up yer stamina. Runnin’ is the easiest around here.
[He taps his feet, thinking.]
And you’ll want ta go see wardrobe… Tight clothin’ is the best for silks, and you’ll need some practice clothes and ones for proper performances. Ah, but that’s for later. [His thoughtful expression eases up into a grin, and he laughs.] For today, stretchin’! And then I’ll show ya how ta handle the silks, although we’ll be stickin’ low for now until yer more experienced.

[Tamaki is good at throwing himself into work, especially the physical parts. He starts running through the stretches he normally does for dancing, which pretty thoroughly work out his arms and legs.
Whether Joker sticks around for the stretching or not, once Tamaki's done he'll look pretty eager to get started.]
Handwave training stuff?
[At least he’s cheerful and pleasant to be around.]
Sure!
Once he's done, though, he flops almost immediately to the ground, panting and covered in sweat.]
Ah. I'm tired...
[He might fall asleep right here.]
no subject
[Joker is pretty sweaty himself, although he’s not nearly as bad as the one who actually had to go through all that training. It’s been a while since he’s been so hands on, but he’s glad for it. It makes him feel twitchy if he doesn’t stay up to speed.]
Sure yer not hungry, first?
no subject
Yes. Hungry.
[He's a teenage boy - basically a walking stomach.]
no subject
[Laughing loudly, Joker takes a look at everyone and seems to judge it well enough by his standards, because he gestures for Tamaki to follow after him.]
The good thing about this place is, because it travels so much, we get all sortsa food, and some of it really perks ya right back up. Koel’s an expert at making that kinda thing.
no subject
[He's heard the name but hasn't met her yet. He's interested in what kinds of foods there are that he hasn't tried, though... and also interested to see if there is King's Pudding around. Old habits die hard.]
no subject
no subject
[That's surprising! Tamaki thought for sure there must be more.]
Should we cook our own food?
no subject
[A careless shrug.]
Folks leave, s’just how it is around here. So if ya meet anyone visitin’ the carnival who says they’re good at cooking, try ta convince ‘em ta stay! [He laughs.] In the meantime, if ya know how ta cook, I’m sure Koel wouldn’t mind a load off her shoulders, but ya don’t have ta worry.
no subject
[IDOLiSH7 as a group has to cook most of their own meals, as the agency they work for isn't rich enough to have food cooked for them. Tamaki himself can mostly only make simple meals - it's Mitsuki who's the master cook.]
I don't mind.
no subject
no subject
[He flops back on the ground for a second, then pushes himself all the way back to his feet.]
Then let's go eat.
[He's easily persuaded.]
