What: The Ringmaster brings the carnival to the Summerlands immediately after being freed from Portland so that everyone can take a fucking nap. Her included.

DAYS OF SUMMER↴ You made it! And things are back to normal... more or less. Upon waking, you will be greeted with a clear blue sky and gentle breeze – the carnival has found itself situated between a pair of mountain peaks, with great fields of flowers extending in the distance. In the other direction, you’ll see mountain-top cities and tall waterfalls accenting vast swaths of forest. Some of you will already know this place. It’s the Summerlands. You game here once to rest in safety nearly a year ago, and now you’ve come to rest once again. ► WAKING UP: Shortly after the carnival arrives, the Ringmaster will send out a somewhat cryptic radio message - but her immediate location won't be clear. Whatever items you had on your person at the time the Severing was broken will still be on your person, including whatever clothing. All of the animals and pets of the carnival will have returned to the grounds as well, though they are currently free from their designated living spaces. Things in the carnival will appeared to have naturally aged a month, as if the carnival was been sitting here empty and waiting while everyone was in Portland. The lawn needs mowing. ► SUMMER CITY: After the Summer Fae become aware of everyone's presence, they will welcome you into their city. There are stairs that lead up the sides of the mountains, but thankfully there are also magical means of getting up there as well. The Summer Fae will be willing to help workers with the injured as needed, offering herbal remedies and healing magic to those that want it. You'll also be invited to join them for dinner, but they will not be particularly offended if they are turned down, for now. ► SUMMER PEOPLE: The fae here will mostly enjoy the company of any carnival members that offer it - it doesn't seem that much happens here besides day after day of peaceful meditation and relaxation. It is not uncommon to see Summer Fae spent days doing exactly the same thing, whether that be enjoying the weather, listening to music, or dancing - the day and night periods may be similar to earth, but when you don't need rest it can all blur together just the same. Some of the fae work on feats of agriculture or craftsmanship, and while there is no particularly need to work in this place, they take pride in the fact that they do. ► NEW ARRIVALS: Though the Ringmaster will not be offering much guidance for the first week or so, eventually the carnival will begin running for a few small performance sessions, off and on, as a thank you to their fae hosts. The carnival will also be open to receiving new arrivals during that period, and so there will likely be some newbies to train and get orientated as well. |
Waking up (wake me up inside)
[Yuya's voice carries first when he spots Reira, running to her. Or, more accurately, jogging with the occasional stumble. He was far more mobile than before, but not enough to be 100% (more doea it help he refused to stay in bed).
He's so relieved to see her, assuming nothing more than that she happened to find her way into the carnival as anyone would--and she's all right.]

She swears it's his voice that she heard-a point that is at the very least made 'alright' by the fact that she didn't ask for specifics about how and why she was here (she had Other concerns, see). And sure enough when she turns...
There he is. Seemingly happy, and without that odd emotional aura around him that flared up so occasionally from Zarc whenever he was pushed over the edge, without a single trace of some doubled emotion or heart that could imply another presence.
It is, as far as she can see, just Yuuya. And she stares.] Y-Yuuya?!

Of course, she could be like Gon and come from a time before that was an issue, so he doesn't say anything at first. He can just be happy to see her anyway, right?] Hey, what's up? Did you just get here?

[What's up? Some weird shit, that's what. She glances to the side.] I wasn't really supposed to be here, but...She said she was trying to help, so I guess it's okay now...
But... [She crinkles her nose, staring at the other.] ...When did you get here, then..?

But trying to help--his contract. That must be what she means. That somehow only makes him feel better, because if it's due to his contract then she must be safe now.]
Me? Oh, a couple months ago. [That probably doesn't make a lot of sense.] Time gets really weird here, so if you didn't notice I was gone, that's normal!

I was trying to seal Zarc away properly so he could learn things this time...And then suddenly I was here, and the Ringmaster had Zarc, and...
[She sort of assumes he knows about all of this. Though. Um. Hold on.]

[He looks confused and conflicted at her. He saw her absorb that part of himself, but he didn't consider how much responsibility she was trying to take in doing so. That part of him has already caused her so much grief.]
Did the Ringmaster get rid of him? [He can't help but sound a little hopeful. Please, please don't let Reira have to deal with that.]

Still.] ...She said she needed to do something, [she starts, frowning,] ...but I asked her to give him a chance. She said I had to stay here for a year, but if I do, he can be born again, so he can learn properly, even if it's not in someone's body this time.
[There is, perhaps, hope in her words too-she looks to Yuuya with all the confidence she can muster, answering his 'question'.] ...Zarc's heart... ...it hurt a lot-and he was scared, and angry, and hurt. And...
...And no one helped him. ...so everything just exploded, I think, [she says quietly.]
...So we need to help him grow up again. ...the right way, like you did!

And Yuya doesn't have any hope for that part of his soul, even if it hurts. Because even when they had that second chance, it still wanted to destroy. That part of him was full of hate to grow from the start, and if it couldn't change even when it was inside Yuya, how could it change on its own?]
Reira... [She looks like she believes it, and it makes Yuya's words twist in his throat. So he moves to put his hands on her shoulders and get out the safest thought he can muster.] But he's out of you, right? You're safe now.

[She swallows. And adds, more firmly.] But...
...but I wasn't in danger..! Zarc wouldn't have his dragons anymore, just like he doesn't now...And I-we-would have had niisama, and people that loved us, and...
There wasn't anything to worry about! [she insists, shaking her head.] I know he did a lot of bad things...but he needs a chance to get better..!

He has a hard time sharing her sentiment, though. He shakes his head mutely, unsure if he's supposed to argue with her or just calm her down.]
You were in danger! And you don't want him in you! You shouldn't have to be responsible for that. You don't have to fix my mistakes...
[Because whether it was as Zarc or as Yuya, a lot of it was his fault. He just told Gongenzaka he wouldn't let his guilt hold him in the past, but he definitely wasn't going to let anyone else make his amends instead. It was bound to hurt.] You signed a contract for this? What exactly did you let her do?

And I didn't 'let' her do anything..! [Reira protests, her hands balling into tiny fists at her sides.] Because it was my choice, and no one ordered me to do it..!
[A strange use of words, perhaps, on that possibly hails back to time spent in the Synchro dimension-but Reira carries on, focused on only this one thing...Her voice cracking as she looks to Yuuya with betrayal, if anything.]
...they aren't even your mistakes...And you just want to kill him, instead of helping him fix it now...

I'm not going to kill a baby... [Even if he thinks that part was better crushed. He can't believe it can be redeemed when it nearly blew their second chance. She just doesn't understand.]

...he knew that would happen, [she muttered, not quite understanding the actual extent of her brother's 'blessing' there. (There was, after all, so much about the situation they hadn't understood, and so many things that happened without warning, and as much as Reiji might have accepted the end result, he could have just as easily become a second Leo in his own right)
Reira's tone does not lose that edge as Yuuya deflects, however. And if anything, she more stubbornly looks away, unwilling to look him in the eye.]
