DAYS OF SUMMER↴![]() You made it! And things are back to normal... more or less. Upon waking, you will be greeted with a clear blue sky and gentle breeze – the carnival has found itself situated between a pair of mountain peaks, with great fields of flowers extending in the distance. In the other direction, you’ll see mountain-top cities and tall waterfalls accenting vast swaths of forest. Some of you will already know this place. It’s the Summerlands. You game here once to rest in safety nearly a year ago, and now you’ve come to rest once again. ► WAKING UP: Shortly after the carnival arrives, the Ringmaster will send out a somewhat cryptic radio message - but her immediate location won't be clear. Whatever items you had on your person at the time the Severing was broken will still be on your person, including whatever clothing. All of the animals and pets of the carnival will have returned to the grounds as well, though they are currently free from their designated living spaces. Things in the carnival will appeared to have naturally aged a month, as if the carnival was been sitting here empty and waiting while everyone was in Portland. The lawn needs mowing. ► SUMMER CITY: After the Summer Fae become aware of everyone's presence, they will welcome you into their city. There are stairs that lead up the sides of the mountains, but thankfully there are also magical means of getting up there as well. The Summer Fae will be willing to help workers with the injured as needed, offering herbal remedies and healing magic to those that want it. You'll also be invited to join them for dinner, but they will not be particularly offended if they are turned down, for now. ► SUMMER PEOPLE: The fae here will mostly enjoy the company of any carnival members that offer it - it doesn't seem that much happens here besides day after day of peaceful meditation and relaxation. It is not uncommon to see Summer Fae spent days doing exactly the same thing, whether that be enjoying the weather, listening to music, or dancing - the day and night periods may be similar to earth, but when you don't need rest it can all blur together just the same. Some of the fae work on feats of agriculture or craftsmanship, and while there is no particularly need to work in this place, they take pride in the fact that they do. ► NEW ARRIVALS: Though the Ringmaster will not be offering much guidance for the first week or so, eventually the carnival will begin running for a few small performance sessions, off and on, as a thank you to their fae hosts. The carnival will also be open to receiving new arrivals during that period, and so there will likely be some newbies to train and get orientated as well. |
Summerlands
So he's wandered out to the Summerlands as well--and he recognizes Tyki. That man from the fair games.
"Oh, hello. You're still here?" This wasn't carnival grounds, so he wasn't staying just to play some games, was he?
no subject
His face immediately betrays him in surprise, "Yes, it seems I am but so are you." Which implied quite heavily that whatever he had done he had either incurred debt or he had been there to stay for the long run in the first place.
no subject
"I will be staying here for the foreseeable future," he explains plainly. He doesn't look terribly bothered by the prospect, though. "Travelling with the carnival, I mean. What about yourself?"
no subject
"Get roped into something messy then?" He laughs lightly because it seemed their meeting wasn't just a random circumstance. "I will be also staying at the carnival for the time being. It was not my decision at first but I will make do." He gestures towards the Summerlands, "I take it you got to experience the night better than I did? Yet here we are."
no subject
Did someone else write a contract for him, or something? Syrlya hasn't heard yet of fairy debt seeing as the only other person he's talked to about employment joined the contract willingly.
no subject
He doesn't know himself if it is a common thing but he knows carnivals and circus places were known to rob people of something. There was the best and worst of people here. He did love to indulge in a lot of humanity at the highs and lows of their life.
no subject
"Well, if we are to be working together then I should introduce myself properly. My name is Syrlya," he says with a small bow of his head. "I've been assigned as a bouncer and mercenary for the carnival."
no subject
"Tyki Mikk. A pleasure to meet you, Mister Syrlya," he says with his own bow yet formal. "Magician is what I've been assigned." And conman but he wasn't going to say that out loud. It would take the fun out of it and a lot of things to admit that out in the open. Even his kind appearance was a guise in itself. His brow lifts at the jobs listed on his end. He certainly doesn't look it. "I take it then you have some fighting experience under your belt."
no subject
At Tyki's question he nods. "Yes, years of it. It has been necessary to protect my home."
no subject
"War, is it? Or territory squabbles?" Do you live in a tree? What kind of food do you eat? He wants to be rude and ask rude questions.
no subject
That was a squabble for the other races, about who was allowed where. It was stupid, because the land exists regardless and it wasn't like they asked the nature that was already there before claiming it. It's awfully arrogant.
"My world is unfortunately plagued by creatures and people who would do harm to everything in their path. Of course we wish to protect it."
He gestures to wave that thought off, however. "What about yourself? Is this not your first time entertaining a crowd?"
no subject
"My world is in a war most aren't aware of. Between humans and wayward souls." Even if he's on the opposite end of where it looks like he should be.
"I am use to entertaining at parties if the Earl of my Family is hosting one but this will be my first time performing tricks and high challenges instead of just dancing and socializing. From what I've been told this carnival can go to the most interesting places."
no subject
"Oh, I have been to those." Human noble parties, although never to have fun. "I do not believe that is quite the same? But I expedct you know more about either parties or carnivals than I."
no subject
"Then you've seen the rabble and the nobles flashing as much pride as they can. Every word is demonstrated and given with lots of care lest they step on someone else's toes. You learn to give people what they want slowly before drawing them into a trap. I intend to give them something heart chasing enough that they won't be able to tear their eyes away. I can work on flair and performance later." Because effort was something that will need to be involved and he can only expend so much for so little at a time.
no subject
"Well! I'm sure you can unravel something impressive with the other performers. Whoever they are."
no subject
"It shouldn't be that hard. I just have to find them first."
