Performance and Dreamcatchers

Who: Joker, those working entertainment, and whoever wants to do fun arts and crafts
When: The day after the orientation, and then after the ringmaster's announcement
Where: The Big Tent and one of the side stages, respectively
What: Joker gets his performing ducks all in a row, and then does an arts and crafts corner. As you do. Mingle log!

At around ten in the morning, as he told a few other workers and anyone who'd been listening in on the walkie talkies, Joker starts to radio in those who are working under him to meet up in the big top. Hope you had breakfast and not a hangover! Of course, for anyone who tries not to attend, Joker will cheerfully hunt them down and bother them into going.

Sorry, mandatory, you know how it is.

It's later in the day, after the ringleaders' own announcement, that eventually Joker makes another of himself, this time to the general channel. It's an invitation to one of the side stages to make dreamcatchers together, for anyone who still craves company or simply doesn't know what the hell a dreamcatcher even is. Along with that, Joker has taken it upon himself to make sure signs advertising this are plastered all over the carnival.

If you've only known them to be stories before, it makes sense you wouldn't consider it.

[She picks up another wooden hoop and spool of wire, and gestures for Greg to take a seat with her.]

I don't know about other types of spirits, but mushi themselves are not actually natural to the Ringmaster's domain. Any that are here came from my own world.

So... are there a lot of them here? For you to make a charm against them, and all.

[ He's assuming that's not what ALL of the dreamcatchers are for, but everything feels like a big guessing game at this point. ]

Mmm, they come and go. Call it more insurance against bad luck, more than anything.

[One set of her eyes flicks upward, tracking something drifting along overhead, but her main eyes don't leave Greg.]

I don't know why she requested these made, but if we're headed somewhere that dreams are of importance to I'd rather be ahead of the game, so to speak.

Better to cover all your bases, huh?

[ He cups his chin. He has to wonder just how many kinds of creatures there are out there he never even considered. For once, the idea doesn't spook him so much. Just... makes him think. ]

I'm glad you're thinking ahead. Here I was expecting it to make some sort of arts and crafts festival.

[Tanyuu smiles, though this time it's tinged with more than a hint of weariness.]

Oh, there's a chance that that is the case, or these are meant to be gifts for the lord of whatever realm we're headed to next. The Ringleader often finds ways to entertain herself by setting us to odd tasks.

Well, this is a place for entertainment. She's gotta keep amused, too.

[ It's hard for Greg to sound too bitter, but he certainly does sound tired. ]

[She does catch that note in his voice, and pats Greg's shoulder sympathetically.]

It would be nice if it wasn't at our expense, though. But from what I've gathered that's more the nature of fae in general than her own personal attitudes. I'd like to believe that she usually means well by us all, but sometimes...

[Tanyuu lets out a long sigh and rubs her temple.]

She can be tiring to deal with, especially if you're having to argue her out of something.

[ He looks sidelong to her, uncertain if he even wants to ask. ]

How often does that happen?

[She smiles and shakes her head, chuckling a little wearily.]

Oh, not often for most of us! But the Ringmaster has become enamored with several dangerous types of mushi before, and Ginko and I had to explain to her several times why keeping them loose around the carnival, or at all, is not a good idea.

As long as it's exciting, huh?

[ He smiles weakly. ]
