Performance and Dreamcatchers

Who: Joker, those working entertainment, and whoever wants to do fun arts and crafts
When: The day after the orientation, and then after the ringmaster's announcement
Where: The Big Tent and one of the side stages, respectively
What: Joker gets his performing ducks all in a row, and then does an arts and crafts corner. As you do. Mingle log!

At around ten in the morning, as he told a few other workers and anyone who'd been listening in on the walkie talkies, Joker starts to radio in those who are working under him to meet up in the big top. Hope you had breakfast and not a hangover! Of course, for anyone who tries not to attend, Joker will cheerfully hunt them down and bother them into going.

Sorry, mandatory, you know how it is.

It's later in the day, after the ringleaders' own announcement, that eventually Joker makes another of himself, this time to the general channel. It's an invitation to one of the side stages to make dreamcatchers together, for anyone who still craves company or simply doesn't know what the hell a dreamcatcher even is. Along with that, Joker has taken it upon himself to make sure signs advertising this are plastered all over the carnival.

[The sight of red catches Gottlieb's attention out of the corner of his eye. He winces as soon as he reacts, an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. That vampire trait is one that causes him no end of discomfort. Pushing the instincts to the back of his mind, he looks over to inspect Yuugi's handiwork before glancing back at his own.

A craftsman, Gottlieb is not. What he's made bears little to no resemblance to a dreamcatcher, instead looking more as if an intoxicated spider wandered first through a glue factory and then to a disco.]

I do not think I have grasped the concept of this piece properly. I suppose I should start over.

[It's only a small prick, and so the blood flow is minimal enough that it stops as soon as it starts. If he notices the other's reaction, he doesn't say anything, though the jackal ears atop his head flick forward from their annoyed state.

Yuugi glances up, thumb still in his mouth and letting his shoulders slacken, leaning back in his seat and placing his new "dream catcher" up on the table, shaking his head.]

Me neither. Not even turning it into a game helps.

[Scratching a hand at his hair, he sighs and sits back up, picking his things up once again.]

But there's no sense in not trying. She said our lives might depend on it right?

[At the reminder about their 'lives' Gottlieb's eyes widen and he bristles noticeably.]

Oh, how dreadful! I certainly hope some of our fellows have managed to master the manufacture of these dreamcatchers, then.

[He looks back at his disaster.]

Or I am afraid we are quite doomed.

There's no sense in giving up.

[With a small huff, Yuugi pulled the thread through his needle and rested his elbows on the table. Regarding the first two disasters and frowning deeply at his third, then glanced at the other as he threaded a bead and did a small knot to keep it in place.]

Besides which, it wouldn't be fair to leave it up to everyone else. Our lives are our own responsibility.

[Oof. That truth hits Gottlieb right in his heart and makes him pick up his own attempt to try and save it.]

You are quite a wise young man, if I may say so.

[His cheeks flush and he glances down at his handiwork, fiddling with the bead a little as he shakes his head.]

I'm not. It's just something I've learned. [Neglecting his own happiness in order to make other people happy for one thing. He glances up, looking a little embarrassed.] Ah, sorry. I'm Yuugi.

I am Gottlieb! It's a pleasure, Yuugi.

[The vampire is eyeing the various lovely stones he has to choose from, tapping his chin thoughtfully.]

At any rate, you've inspired me to try again. That's a wonderful thing.

I'm glad.

[If he can help anyone in any way, that's good by him. There's only so much he can do to help others who don't want to be helped after all, so learning to do it in a roundabout way was the best he could do. Yuugi ties the bead onto his dream catcher, smiling slightly.]

Someone once told me I'm the only "me" there is. I'd be foolish if I didn't keep it that way.
