Who: Joker, those working entertainment, and whoever wants to do fun arts and crafts
When: The day after the orientation, and then after the ringmaster's announcement
Where: The Big Tent and one of the side stages, respectively
What: Joker gets his performing ducks all in a row, and then does an arts and crafts corner. As you do. Mingle log!

At around ten in the morning, as he told a few other workers and anyone who'd been listening in on the walkie talkies, Joker starts to radio in those who are working under him to meet up in the big top. Hope you had breakfast and not a hangover! Of course, for anyone who tries not to attend, Joker will cheerfully hunt them down and bother them into going.

Sorry, mandatory, you know how it is.

It's later in the day, after the ringleaders' own announcement, that eventually Joker makes another of himself, this time to the general channel. It's an invitation to one of the side stages to make dreamcatchers together, for anyone who still craves company or simply doesn't know what the hell a dreamcatcher even is. Along with that, Joker has taken it upon himself to make sure signs advertising this are plastered all over the carnival.

He drew them himself. Please appreciate the scribbled stars.

[He pauses, looking at her with a bit of surprise as his ears folded back against his head, then shifted forward again, biting his bottom lip. Relaxing his shoulders, Yuugi took another bead and threaded it.]

Back a few months ago, the monsters started coming to life and attacking people. We found out there were these villains stealing souls and... [Flashes of sacrificing himself for Atem, the duel in the valley, the utter blackness that surrounded him in the belly of the beast... Yuugi shook his head, reaching to run a hand through his hair.] Never mind. I was out of it for most of it.

[ She looks at him for a little bit longer, and then... well, he's trailed off, so she nods. ]

I'm sorry. [ She understands not wanting to talk about the past. Sometimes it hurts too much. ]

... There's probably plenty of creatures these could have come from. Some of the workers here have scales, too.

N-no it's okay. I really was out for most of it so...I wouldn't be able to tell you what actually happened.

[Even with the play-by-play he'd been given after, it was still a bit strange. He wasn't even sure if the valley duel had actually happened. He fiddled with the bead between his fingers, threading it and tying it securely.]

Maybe some of them are shedding?

Like dead skin.

[ She slowly lets go of the scale she's been holding. ] Mm... that's a little gross, though.

... Are we gonna shed, too?

Not really.

[The idea isn't very disgusting to him; after everything that he's been through, shedding skin or fur hardly seems it. Yuugi shuffles his hand through his own supplies, shrugging.]

Maybe. Anything's possible at this point. I think we'd probably need a bit more fur first. Or scales. Whichever we're going to get.

But we have ears. [ She looks at him quizzically. ] You think we'll get scales?

[ There are quite a lot of creepy crawlies around here who seem like they have a mix. ]

Maybe. Although, Carly-san has the whole bird theme going, and I know there's a couple of guys who look like humanoid dragons...

[Of course, they could always go an entirely different way. Yuugi hums and slides a bead through his thread, tying it on.]

If I had to hazard a guess, they're kinda linked...like, I have jackal ears because...

[Because Atem, but he ends up shaking his head at the last minute.]

...because grandpa was an archaeologist and I heard a lot about Egypt and its mythology while I was growing up?

[Safe.]

I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there.

[ She's lost focus of whatever it was she was doing, just kind of watching his ears for a bit, how they move with his head and twitch at the slightest sound. Strange on a human boy's head, and yet somehow act like they've always been there - and hers must look similar. ]

Maybe they just go with your hair. [ She touches her own. ] It's weird how soft they are, isn't it?

[ Actually, touching the fur on her ears makes them flick involuntarily. Too sensitive! ]

[His hair is actually limp enough now that his ears stand out against his hair even more. His backpack didn't have any gel in it and he's a bit worried about asking for any, so for now it's tied back into a ponytail. His ears flick back as he watches her touch hers, tilting his head with a small frown.]

A little. I was expecting mine to be a bit coarser when I touched them for some reason. I guess because of the heat in the memory world...

[Yuugi bites his bottom lip in thought, looking a bit perplexed.]

Is that where you're from?

[ She hasn't asked him much about his past. There hasn't been much cause to.

But they spend so much time together that... this time, why not? ]

Eh? Ah! N-no, I'm from a city called Domino.

[Realising his slip up, Yuugi waves his hand, looking a little sheepish, before he picks at his dream catcher, fingers needing something to do. Should he tell her? He's not sure. But they are going to be coworkers and roommates so he might as well tell her something. Maybe not the whole truth to start with but he should start being truthful.

Who knows? Maybe it would help him get over Atem.]

No. Memory world is just a term my friends and I coined after we helped m...a close friend recover their memories.

[ She pauses a bit, looking at him -- she caught the slip-up. But rather than comment on it, after a few moments she returns to her own work, murmuring: ]

You have good friends.

Well...I didn't always.

[His fingers fiddle with some of the objects that Miyazawa-san had given him, picking one up and toying with it.]

Actually two of my good friends used to bully me, and every other friend I've made I met through conflict. But I made a wish...I guess it sounds stupid when I put it like that.

[He shakes his head.]

When I was little, my grandpa had a puzzle sitting in a box, from an archaeological expedition he'd been on in Egypt. "The one who solves me, will receive my dark knowledge and powers."

[ She stops working with what she's doing, and puts the materials down just to listen quietly. ]

And did the King of Games solve it?

Yeah. After eight years.

[He twirls a feather around between his fingers, humming softly before his other hand goes to his torso, flexing before resting against the table again.]

I mean, I don't have it anymore, mind. I used to wear it around my neck...it was a 3D puzzle, shaped like a pyramid.

Can you draw it? Maybe I can solve it...

[ Obviously not the most important thing here-- but she's curious anyway. ]

Mm-- sorry. But-- what's it got to do with your friends?
