⇨ ALOLA

Who: EVERYONE.
When: Day 73 - Day 87
Where: The islands of Alola.
What: The Carnival arrives at its next touring location, a series of tropical islands inhabited by a species of animal called Pokemon and their trainers!
Warnings: Pokemon is pretty PG-rated.

IT'S A POKEMON WORLD

Alola is broken up into four different islands, with a number of unique points of interest. Boats can easily be rented in order to get between the islands, or you can just pay for the fair of a scheduled trip. If you can prove you have the skills for it, you can also call on a "Ride Pokemon" - that is, either a Charizard or a Lapras that will fly or swim you between locations.

► POPULATION: Though the islands appear very small as an abstraction in the actual games, that doesn't hold over into the actual reality of it. When interacting with the different locations, imagine that they are about as big and spread out as they would be in real life. It's about on the same scale as Hawaii is on earth. Ignore any wikis that say the population of each island is like 200 people, because that's just adding up all the scripted NPCs, and there are realistically more than six houses per town.

► AMENITIES: Even if they aren't overtly listed on island maps, it can be assumed that all towns and cities will have basic amenities - that is, places to eat, place to go to the washroom, places to buy souvenirs, and the other things one would expect in a tourist heavy area. You can also buy malasadas pretty much anywhere.

► POKECENTERS: You'll be able to find a Pokecenter in pretty much every town - a Pokecenter is a public building in which Pokemon Trainers can rest and get their Pokemon healed. Think of it like free international Pokemon healthcare. You can also buy Pokeballs here, as well as potions and other healing items for later use.

► AETHER FOUNDATION: A peace keeping organization that shelters Pokemon from harm and abuse. If you kill/maim any Pokemon or otherwise act violently in public, they will come to try to take you down with their Pokemon. They also are the main force working against Team Skull.

MELEMELE ISLAND
[MELEMELE DETAIL MAP] [GUARDIAN DEITY TAPU KOKO] [WIKI LINK]

► TRAINER SCHOOL: A full fledged for young, aspiring Pokemon Trainers! Students go here to learn about Pokemon care and battling before setting out on their own journeys. It would be sort of weird for an adult to show up here, like it would for an adult to try to attend an elementary school, but you can probably learn some of the basics just from touring the facility.

► HAU'OLI SHOPPING DISTRICT: The biggest shopping district on Melemele, you can do a lot here, from eating out to getting your hair dyed. A lot of shops are, unsurprisingly, completely Pokemon focused - but there are some that aren't, too. There are also some very nice beach fronts nearby.

► BERRY FIELDS: Berries come in a lot of different types and have different effects when used. Mostly, Pokemon love to eat them, regardless of what type they are. This is a big field of them, most of which are free to take if you catch them when ripe.

► TEN CARAT HILL: The secluded interior of a small mountain, filled with some rare types of rock Pokemon. You have to be able to bypass the left overs of some recent rockslides to get in.

► TRIAL SITE: There is only one trial on this islands, which is the Normal type trial. All you have to do is fight a bunch of Pokemon ferrets, and then fight an even bigger Pokemon ferret that thirsts for your blood. It's not so bad.

AKALA ISLAND
[AKALA DETAIL MAP] [GUARDIAN DEITY TAPU LELE] [WIKI LINK]

► TIDE SONG HOTEL: A big ass hotel near the port - if you want to stay on Alola overnight, this is a pretty good place to go. It isn't too expensive, and is also rather nice.

► DIMENSIONAL RESEARCH LAB: Alola, on occasion, has been the site of various dimensional breaks (haha) in which extraplanar creatures called Ultra Beasts have crossed over. There isn't much information about these beasts, but they are something that are being actively studied. Characters who are nerds might find some of this information interesting.

► HANO GRAND RESORT: The inevitably big, fancy resort that tends to take route in touristy places like this. If you actually pay to spend some time there, you can enjoy all the things you'd expect to find in a fancy resort, except with way more Pokemon. There is also a fancy, secluded beach for resort goers only.

► BATTLE ROYALE DOME: A battle area in which 4 trainers fight each other all at once, with teams of there Pokemon. The trainers here are mostly quite expert, and you need a team of three Pokemon to play, so player characters probably won't be able to participate. However, you can still come to watch, if you like seeing a bunch of colourful monsters slapping each other around.

► PANIOLA RANCH: A large ranch that keeps a lot of Pokemon that resemble earth farm animals. You can leave Pokemon here to stay for a while if you need a break from the strains of trainer life. Quite often, however, your Pokemon will end up getting knocked up and leave you with another egg to care for.

► TRIAL SITES: Brooklet Hill is a lake filled area that contains the Water Trial. You have to fight a bunch of schooling Wishiwashi, and then an even bigger schooling Wishiwashi to win. Wela Volcano Park contains the Fire Trial, where you must climb to the top of the dormant volcano, and spot the difference between a series of ceremonial island dances. Then you gotta fight a team of Marrowaks and a giant Salazzle. The Lush Jungle contains the Grass challenge, in which you have to find a series of rare organic ingredients in order to brew something that will lure out a giant Lurantis.

ULA'ULA ISLAND
[ULA'ULA DETAIL MAP] [GUARDIAN DEITY TAPU BULU] [WIKI LINK]

► MALIE GARDEN: A nice big garden to hang out in and chill. Also, there are Pokemon there... and also, Pokemon battles? There's really no end to it.

► MOUNT HOKULANI OBSERVATORY: Up at the top of the local mountain, you can go see a space observatory. Like most things in Alola, it's like a regular observatory, except with more Pokemon, since some Pokemon just straight up come from space. You can take a bus up here, but you can also hike if you want.

► HAINA DESERT: A shitty desert in the middle of the island. Mostly only good for if you want the kinds of Pokemon that live in shitty deserts.

► ABANDONED THRIFTY MEGAMART: A Megamart, but haunted. Extremely haunted, filled with the kind of ghost Pokemon that would actually kill you. You have to take a bunch of pictures of ghosts on your way through here if you want to beat the Ghost Trial.

► PO TOWN: The ramshackle remains of the town that Team Skull have taken over. It's completely walled off from the rest of the world, and is pretty terrible. No point in going in there unless you're fighting crime, in which case you can expect to get challenged to Pokemon battles by a lot of Team Skull knuckleheads.

► LAKE OF THE MOON: A huge, round temple thing in the middle of nowhere. It's used to praise a legendary Pokemon that existed years ago, but there presently doesn't seem to be anything around except cool architecture.

► TRIAL SITES: The Observatory contains the Electric Challenge, during which you have to fend off various kinds of electric grubs, before eventually taking on a giant Vikavolt. The Abandoned Megamart must first be cleared before challenging the Ghost Trial officially, at which point you will have to defeat a powerful Mimikyu.

PONI ISLAND
[PONI DETAIL MAP] [GUARDIAN DEITY TAPU FINI] [WIKI LINK]

► SEAFOLK VILLAGE: A village made of nothing but houseboats and other water fairing homes. It's the only major town on Poni Island.

► ANCIENT RUINS: Most of Poni Island has been reduced to ruins, over time. Not many people live here, relative to the other islands, but there are a lot of abandoned buildings from when they apparently used to.

► VAST PONI CANYONS: Most of the island is comprised of canyons, caves, and valleys filled with particularly strong Pokemon, and also a lot of fight-hungry Pokemon trainers. Most of them will want to fight you as soon as they see you, since they are there mostly to train, but they will back down if you tell them you're not a trainer. Though, at that point they will strongly urge you to go home, because it's too danger for anything other than the strongest trainers.

► ALTAR OF THE SUN: A matching altar to the one found on Ula'ula, except this time dedicated to a legendary Pokemon of the sun. If you play some magic flutes here at the right time then apparently a giant lion might show up, but there's no way to be sure.

► TRIAL SITES: The only Trial here is the Grand Trial, which is a fight against the leader's ground type Pokemon. You may also get lucky and have the Fairy Trial's kahuna deign to fight you, with her fairy types, if she randomly wanders into your path. Both of them are very strong, and are not advised to challenge for new trainers.

[ As Lambert steps forwards, Strange steps back but him running into his bedframe prevents him from stepping back any further. Huh, it's weird how he feels WAY TOO CORNERED in this situation. He doesn't really like it. But, there's no mirrors or puddles or ways to actually dodge this question so there's a pause before he actually answers. ]

Wellington needed to know the location of some missing cannons, filched by a regiment of Italians. [ It's said as if it's the most obvious thing in the world, as if that's a perfectly logical explanation to raise the dead. ] None of my usual methods for finding information were working. So, as a last result, someone brought in some Neapolitan corpses who were of the same company as the Italians who had the cannons. I brought them back to life and the soldiers asked them directly.

[ His voice falters a bit here. It's easy to see thanks to the fact that Alola's driven him to short sleeves, but Strange's hands are trembling slightly as he describes the event, something that he hasn't noticed in the slightest. ] Raising them was simple. The problem was, I had no idea how to send them back to Hell. And they—they didn't want to. They kept begging me....

[ Strange trails off, not completing that thought. The words are stuck in his throat and he makes an attempt to continue the conversation before changing it entirely. ]

Anyway, it's not going to happen again. I don't want to bring someone up from Hell only to eventually send them back or temporarily rip them from Paradise. Besides, Arabella isn't even dead to begin with.

[ Well that's new information that he didn't mean to tell. And as soon as those words leave his mouth, Strange's eyes widen in a manner that's pure 'well shit, I didn't mean to say that.' ]
whattaprick: (like so whatever)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-13 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Rambling along like Lambert actively cares about the intricacies of magic is well and good, but the way he starts shaking is hard to miss, even if Strange himself doesn't seem to have registered it. Corpses don't typically come back from the dead in Lambert's world -- peasant superstitions and occasional seances with ghosts aside, which is normal enough -- and what Strange is describing is a conscious, intelligent application of magic to something even seasoned mages in his world would hesitate at.

Then again, maybe that was Strange's advantage at the time. Because he didn't know any better, he could do what others wouldn't, but it's clear the experience has dissuaded him from trying again. Even past his instinctive disgust, even a hardened monster like Lambert can feel a touch of sympathy (though that's probably only because he actually likes Strange) for the circumstances, even if he thinks it's completely insane that Strange went that far just because someone asked him to.

Never mind that half of the things Lambert's done would probably sound equally insane to the magician, and Geralt's stories even worse than that.

The last bit, though, jerks him away from that line of thought as effectively as pinching a lit candlewick to extinguish it. ]

What do you mean she isn't dead?
kingsroads: (totally got this situation down pat)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-13 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Why did he say that? He should have lied, he should have kept his mouth shut, he should have said anything except the truth. Because then there'll just be more questions and Lambert would probably bother Childermass about this and as much as the other magician aggravates him, he has a point by not telling Strange anything.

But, then again, he was already feeling odd about lying to Lambert in the first place. He had been feeling odd about lying ever since hell, though this is the first time Strange's realized that oddness to begin with. That sinking feeling in his gut about lying to Lambert was starting to vanish, only to be replaced by a different sinking feeling in his gut about having to explain the whole scenario. What he wouldn't give for a mirror to run through to escape this conversation but, as it is, he's cornered between Lambert and the bed.

Urrrrrgh he's probably going to have to talk about feelings. Feelings suck, why did he get himself in this mess in the first place.
]

That's exactly what I mean, [ Strange simply states, as if that explains everything, though he does still look obviously uncomfortable with this conversation. ]
whattaprick: (Default)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-14 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ At first, Lambert looks incredulous. Then, slowly, that expression shifts to incredibly pissed.

Lambert doesn't normally care (much) about being lied to -- that nobody likes telling a witcher the truth is sort of a given, even if nine times out of ten, it would have made his job a lot easier. People hide shit all the time, and sometimes prying out secrets is more of a trial than just killing the monster. At least that's straightforward enough to deal with.

Mostly, he's angry because he let can't-keep-a-secret-to-save-his-life Strange lie to his face and get away with it. Anger's easier than dealing with the other emotion it stirs up, so he latches on to it like a lifeline, lips curling back from sharpened teeth as he snarls. ]

What the fuck, Strange? Then what the hell was that sob story for?
kingsroads: (well fuuuuuuck)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-14 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I thought she was dead to begin with! [ Strange explains, desperately trying to find a way to get out of this conversation and not deal with an incredibly angry Lambert. Is it a bit cowardly to try and run away from a conversation? Yep. Does Strange kind of hate himself for this cowardly behavior? Also yep. But does the much taller, much beefier, and much angrier Lambert currently look like he wants to use Strange as target practice? Holy shit yep, those self-preservation instincts are kicking in hard. ]

I buried something that looked like my wife and what I thought was my wife. I only recently learned that Arabella isn't dead, but trapped in the realm of faerie, held captive there by some creature. That's the faerie I was trying to summon in the first place yesterday.

[ Before he froze the carnival. Before he messed up big time.

Of course, this opens up a whole host of questions (how long ago was she kidnapped? how'd you learn about it in the first place? what are you going to do now?). But at least with this statement can't-keep-a-secret-to-save-his-life Strange obviously is telling the truth, if only because he looks a little bit terrified about this whole situation. It's unnerving having someone loom over you when you're used to being the person looming in the first place.
]
whattaprick: (sincerity)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-14 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ The reason Lambert looks like he could kill Strange right now is because, well, he could. If this is what Childermass feels like all the time, it would explain an awful lot about the man.

The moment of uncharacteristic empathy passes as soon as it comes. While Strange quickly offers up the explanation, Lambert doesn't seem particularly appeased, eyes still narrowed and tail still whipping sharply enough through the air to create sound, amplified by the close confines of the space they're in. Now would be a really awkward time for someone to walk in, since he's taking this opportunity to plant a clawed hand against the wall to box Strange even further in, eyes going flat and cold. ]

All right. [ He says, with a calm he doesn't at all feel. Honestly, it's probably cruel to do this to a man who isn't all there in the head, but hey, at least the promise of trauma in his immediate future probably feels more of an urgent problem than the trauma of his past. ]

Anything else you want to share, or is that it?
kingsroads: (shit i'm gonna have to eat the mouse)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-14 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[ Strange just shrinks backward and inward as Lambert looms over him. He is acutely aware of how much he done fucked up. ]

I'm sorry, [ he blurts out, eyes still darting across the room as if that would magically make a mirror appear. There was one in the bathroom but it would just be ridiculous to even make the attempt, Lambert would slap that stupid magic circle spell on him the moment he made a break in that direction. ] I should have told you earlier.

[ It's a combination of timing, forgetfulness, anger at his own failings, and hope that he could ignore the question entirely that have kept Strange from telling more people that his wife isn't dead. After all, if Strange had saved Arabella when he summoned that faerie, then he could easily side-step the question of what happened to her in the first place. Who cares, does it matter, she's alive and she's here. As it is...what sort of magician lets his wife get kidnapped, right under his nose? ]

I...don't really know what I should be sharing to begin with. [ he's still a bit confused as to why Lambert, a person who's past Strange knows barely anything about, is so angered by the fact that Strange lied about an aspect of his past. (The obvious answer of 'because friends don't lie to each other, dingus' will come later). ] Is there something else you want to know?
whattaprick: (Default)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-14 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ A realization that might come even later, if Strange ever develops the capacity for self-reflection for it, is that there might be another obvious reason Lambert's never mentioned his past: he's never actually asked, or shown interest in knowing about it.

Lambert knows it's ridiculous to be angry. Still, for a moment he'd thought ... well, it doesn't really matter what he'd thought, does it? Strange is a madman, he'd said as much. Still, the apology does what the prattling didn't, and will make Lambert settle down enough to pull back, leaving Strange breathing room as he crosses his arms. ]

Guess it wouldn't have made a difference. [ He'll acknowledge, if grudgingly. ] Doesn't really change anything.

[ In other words: they'd still be stuck here, Strange's wife would be whatever she is, and Lambert would be able to do jack shit except mouth pleasantries. He could have at least done so without embarrassing himself getting all adamant that he hoped Strange's plan would work, though. He glances away, the lines on his forehead deepening for a moment. ]

What happens to your contract now? [ He asks, slowly. He doesn't know the details, but based on what Strange just told him ... it seems like it'd be pretty useless. ]
kingsroads: (GIVE IT UP FOR MAGIC)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-14 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ Strange visibly relaxes as Lambert backs off. It's like the air got let out of a balloon, that's how relieved he is that he isn't being towered over and glared at anymore. He slumps down slightly, sitting on his bed in a bit of a relieved manner. Lambert's eased back a bit so Strange is definitely a bit less frantic and less ready to bolt like a nervous animal. At the question, though, Strange frowns. ]

The end result is useless, but I haven't learned anything that would require me to have the contract changed. After all, my contract has nothing to do with my wife, but instead is for a spell that I thought could save her.

[ The contract is for the knowledge of how Gilbert Norrell raised Lady Pole from the dead. While Strange has his suspicions (that begin with 'f' and end in 'aerie'), he doesn't have 100% proof about how it was done and the only person here who likely knows how it happened, Childermass, certainly isn't going to tell him to begin with. And, if he's learned anything from the past few days, it's that specific terms matter. Thinking isn't the same as knowing and it most likely wouldn't be enough to change the contract. ]

I suppose what's going to happen is I serve out my remaining time but spend that time either learning about faeries or improving my magic.

[ It's said with a small little shrug. What else could he do in the first place? ]
whattaprick: (muffled rap music in the distance)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-14 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Just like that. [ It's not really a question, though, just a confirmation of Strange's statement. He apparently doesn't plan on challenging the Ringmaster for a renegotiation of his contract (which, Lambert doesn't sit down, but he will slouch against the wall instead, resting his weight on one shoulder while he chews through what he's learned so far.

It's all bits and pieces hard to string together. ]

You said Childermass is from your future. [ And isn't that a weird thing to wrap his head around. ]
kingsroads: (this won't end well)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-14 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
He is. Don't ask me how far ahead he is, he hasn't told me. He hasn't told me much of anything.

[ And really, based on Strange sulking, that's a bit of a sticking point. All Strange really knows is that he'll send Childermass a box from Venice and he'll return to England. He doesn't even know if he saves Arabella or not--which really, should make Strange hate Childermass much more than he actually does. As it is...he can tolerate that lack of information mostly because it's still really nice to have someone from home to talk to. Strange really needs to work better on not completely destroying that bridge with his rash actions. ]

The only reason I know what I know is that someone got him drunk during the Celebration.

[ said blissfully unaware about just who precisely that someone is. For three people who all bother each other on a regular basis, it's amazing how often someone is inevitably left out of the loop with regards to Strange, Childermass, & Lambert drama. ]
whattaprick: (Default)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-15 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. [ Lambert says, with a little shrug. ] That was me.

[ He thought at least that much had been implied by the 'friendly' little scuffle at the medical tent before, but apparently not. The witcher's tone of voice also implies he isn't the least bit sorry for it.

Childermass not telling Strange much of anything isn't much of a surprise, either. Given that apparently a little knowledge was enough to make Strange accidentally freeze the Carnival over, who knows what he'd do with more? Though Lambert's not sure he buys into all this fuss about changing futures and presents, and how time works -- why would changing a shitty destiny ever be a bad thing? -- he can at least attest that he, for one, would like less being nearly frozen in his future. ]
kingsroads: (small cheeky little smile)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-15 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Strange can't help but let out a short laugh as Lambert mentions it was him. That...really does explain the medical tent, which Strange at least interpreted as Lambert giving Childermass shit for the sole purpose of giving the other magician shit. ]

I should have expected that, [ said with a wry little smile. If anybody was going to be troublesome enough to get Childermass drunk, it was going to be Lambert. ] Thank you for that, by the way. I'm certain I wouldn't have learned anything about my wife if he wasn't intoxicated.

[ And really, even though he has no idea what to do about Arabella and how he's going to save her from the faerie in the first place, at least she's alive. That's what he's got to keep telling himself, at least she's alive, at least she can be saved in the first place. He's got to do this. ]
whattaprick: (dead eyes)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-15 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that why he's all pissy now? I thought he was just born like that.

[ Lambert says that like it's some kind of revelation, with a short laugh of his own, sharp teeth flashing bright in the dimness of the trailer. ]

You're welcome, I guess. Don't expect I'll get a chance to do that again, so don't expect to get any more secrets that way.

[ How many will-compromising worlds can they possibly run into that have an unending supply of booze, after all. ]
kingsroads: (maybe we can talk about other things?)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-15 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, he's naturally grumpy, [ Strange can't help but add, with a little smile. Childermass, not being grumpy? That's something that isn't going to happen. The man was always some shade of dour or grumpy or cross. ]

And no, you're right. I've a feeling that any other information I get from Childermass will have to be given on his own terms.

[ Which means that he's never getting that information as long as he's at the carnival. At least Strange has resigned himself to that fact. ]
whattaprick: (lone wolf)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-15 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Because you're supposed to do something for him, and knowing about this might mean you never do it. [ Lambert finished, brows raised. Hopefully, saying that out loud helps Strange realize the absurdity of it, because it sounds absurd just hearing about it. ]

Do you actually know what exactly you're supposed to do, or has he not let you in on that either?

[ It'll be a fine comedy of errors, if Childermass doesn't get what he wants in the end, and all because of his own secrecy. ]
kingsroads: (maybe don't DO that?!)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-16 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm supposed to give him a box.

[ Strange's tone is pure 'yeah, hell if I know what the box is.' Because he has absolutely no idea what's in the box or why it's so important or how he gets it in the first place.

Spoiler alert: the box has a finger. But at least with this aspect, Strange knows just how absurd the whole scenario sounds.
]

I suppose this is one of those 'I'll understand it when it happens' sort of things.
whattaprick: (muffled rap music in the distance)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-16 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
A box. Well, that's illuminating.

[ Lambert's tone of voice fairly clearly indicates he doesn't think that answers anything at all, but without the magician-not-magician in question around, how productive can this discussion really get? Thinking about it all's enough to give him a headache, so he elects for the path of least resistance and groans, running a hand back through his hair -- or trying to. The horns, which he's forgotten about, kind of get in the way, and he tosses his head irritably for a second before he exhales.

Well, besides being literally crazy, this explains some of the mess, anyway. He glances around, surveying the wasteland of Strange's little kingdom, and shakes his head. ]

Do you have anything to drink here, or do we need to find somewhere else to stop being sober?
kingsroads: (small cheeky little smile)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-16 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I do have some wine around here somewhere.

[ Strange hops off the bed and starts towards the trailer's small kitchen area. He starts rummaging around, trying to find the bottle that he...straight up stole from the kitchen and stashed in his room. Strange opens one of the cupboards, shoving some plates out of the way as he pulls out a bottle of wine.

He looks over at Lambert and gives him a wide grin. Obviously, Strange is 100% up for the whole 'not being sober' thing.
]

If you want something stronger though, we'll have to go to the cookhouse.
whattaprick: (Default)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-17 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I hope it's in a better state than that shirt.

[ Otherwise, ew, they'll be basically drinking vinegar. The witcher pushes off the wall and heads for the recently-washed dishes and cups -- good, there's a couple that are passably clean and don't need gunk forcibly pried off their bottoms. Someone else might care how sad it looks to drink alcohol out of mugs, but not the witcher.

Still, when he rummages and comes up with that bottle, Lambert raises a brow. ]

Forgot the last time we drank already? It'll take more than that to get me drunk. [ Instead, he unhooks a familiar flask from his belt -- yes, he sure was taking witcher alcohol into Alola -- and wiggles it at Strange. ]

I'll cut some of it with this, for me, and you can have the rest. That should get us at least respectably tipsy. [ Cuz Strange probably likes his liver where it is and all. ]

kingsroads: (something something peninsula)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2017-04-17 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ As Lambert judges his booze choices, Strange just ROLLS HIS EYES something fierce. ]

I like wine, [ said as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. ] And we're still in my trailer.

[ Look at Strange and look at his life choices, Lambert. There is no way in hell he's got something more alcoholic stored away for Lambert, not with the level of hot mess he operates at. They're in his trailer, he likes wine, he'll have wine hidden away for later. Taking the bottle, Strange sticks one of his claws in the top to dig out the cork. Hygienic? Nope. But does it get the cork out faster than a bottle opener? Yep. And it's just a few seconds later before the cork pops out, right as Lambert unhooks his flask.

Looking over at Lambert's little flask, Strange frowns. Honestly, he's never actually tasted Lambert's alcohol before. It's probably ridiculously potent considering the man's...well, everything, and once again curiosity gets the better of Strange.
]

Give me a little sip of that, [ Strange says, as he gestures towards the flask. ] I'm the one who's offering up drinks, after all.
whattaprick: (these wooounds they will not heeeal)

[personal profile] whattaprick 2017-04-17 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
This is White Gull. I use it for alchemy. I'm pretty sure a sip of this is going to have you hallucinating for a week, if it doesn't outright poison you to begin with.

[ Look at Lambert being all responsible and shit. After a moment, though, he cracks a grin. ]

If you still want to try it anyway, be my guest. [ Its not entirely uncalculated. Shima hadn't died from drinking Black Blood and that had been way more potent, so it probably won't kill Strange who's been here for longer. ]

I'm mad, [ Strange remarks as if it's the most obvious thing ever. ] Whenever I took a sip of my madness tonic back home, hallucinations were part of the effects. I'm certain I can handle whatever this is.

[ That doesn't mean he's NOT going to hallucinate and trip balls when he cuts the wine with a bit of White Gull. He's gonna be queasy and trippin' out the whoa. It just means he'll be able to deal with it better.

Still, Strange is pouring out the wine into the two not-as-gross coffee mugs. Errybody in the trailer getting tipsy.

I thought you were glad the worst of it was over, not trying to find ways to get crazier.

[ But hey, whatever. Lambert'll pour a generous amount of the eye-watering stuff into his own mug then pass it over to Strange to use however much he sees fit. He can probably induce vomiting in him if he needs to ... probably. In any case, he mostly makes sure Strange doesn't go pouring the whole thing into his mug, this shit's not easy to get ahold of.

When he finishes, Lambert raises his mug in a lazy toast. ]

Bottoms up.
