Where: Wismuth and the Carnival Grounds
What: The carnival enjoys a few days in Wismuth, a coastal city on this planet's version of the American east. However, there are a few things very unique about this version of the planet...

PILLAR OF CREATION↴ Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly. ► VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation. ► ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better. ► ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week. ► PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds.

I suppose so, [ Cole answers, with a shrug. ] I think I know how to do that?

[ he doesn't know how to tell a joke. He really, really doesn't. Frisk is about to discover just how literal minded + without a sense of humor poor Cole really is. ]

[Just do your best Cole! That's all they ask buddy.]

That's great! But I have a question. Why can't a nose be twelve inches long?

[It's a dumb one but what the heck. They're twelve.]

[hurtcomfort]

Because then you'd bump it into things!

[ said with so much enthusiasm like he's 100% certain this is the right answer. ]

[nevergained]

[It's not but Frisk is good at rolling with the punches. Besides, it's rude to stop jokes to tell someone they're doing it wrong.]

Yeah! Noses run all the time so it'd be awful if they were any bigger, right?

[The kids groan but Frisk is still smiling.]

[hurtcomfort]

[ Cole can't help but frown a little at Frisk's answer. He...doesn't really get it. Cole barely comprehends knock knock jokes, puns are also a little beyond him. But, it makes the kids groan and it makes them happy so whatever Frisk is doing is obviously a good thing. ]

Do you know any other jokes?

[nevergained]

[Frisk does notice that frown and a part of them really wants to see him smile. Just because.]

Yup. Knock knock.

[hurtcomfort]

[ Cole immediately perks up. He knows how to do these. And so, a bit too enthusiastically, he responds ]

Who's there!

[nevergained]

[Good! It's always nice when something makes someone happy.]

Noah.

[hurtcomfort]

Hello there, Noah! I'm Cole!

[ .....he tried. At least a few of the kids are giggling, though it's more laughing at Cole himself than at the complete failure of a joke ]

[nevergained]

[It catches Frisk off guard but they recover fairly quickly.]

Hi Cole! It's pretty Cole-d out here, mind letting me in?

[hurtcomfort]

But it feels fine?

[ there's a little tentative tone in Cole's voice, like he's not really sure how to answer. For all he talks about how he can help and he knows to tell a joke, it's obvious that he really, really doesn't. ]

[Yeah, they're...starting to get that.]

Yup. Do you want to try telling a joke?

[Give it a roll buddy.]

[hurtcomfort]

Knock knock!

[ this is going to go as terribly as poor Frisk fears ]

[nevergained]

[And since they haven't done this before, they have no idea what they're getting into.]

Who's there?

[hurtcomfort]

Noah!

[nevergained]

[A repeat?]

Noah who?

[hurtcomfort]

It's you! You're here as well!

[ Considering that Cole doesn't actually know Frisk's name, he's become convinced that their name is Noah. ]

[nevergained]

[* The irony is not lost on you.

Yeah, it isn't. Frisk has named that little voice in their head many things. If 'they' have an actual name, they don't know.]

I'm here.

[It's said with some level of fondness, oddly enough.]

[hurtcomfort]

[ The kids are looking at Cole with a bit of a frown. Even they can tell that this is a shitty knock knock joke, even though Cole seems proud of it.

So, he continues, emboldened by Frisk's fond tone, to tell another joke. ]

Knock knock.

[nevergained]

[Frisk winks at the kids and continues to smile. It's pretty clear now Cole doesn't know what he's doing but they're not going to be rude and call him out on it. There's not point in not being nice, and it's not like Cole is saying anything rude.]

Who's there?

[hurtcomfort]

Me.

[ said with the utmost confidence. ]

[nevergained]

[It's me.

...but not quite. Still, Frisk smiles.]

It's nice to meet you. Right guys?

[The kids nod. Cole's weird but he's trying.]

[hurtcomfort]

[ Cole smiles at Frisk, giving them a small, tentative little grin. ]

Do you want to tell another joke? I don't know many.

[nevergained]

Sure I can.

[A couple more shouldn't hurt.]

Knock Knock.

[ He says, like he knows how to do this and isn't going to completely bomb this joke. ]
