PILLAR OF CREATION↴![]() Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly. ► VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation. ► ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better. ► ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week. ► PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds. |

Still, there's a value to this sort of thing, too, he figures. It lets people have a brief glimpse of what they'll be expected to face, what they'll do... and in the case of such a broad category such as 'showman', what their options are.
Joker is watching everyone perform too, of course, just to make sure everything goes smoothly. It's his job. That doesn't mean he can't settle besides their newest hire with a casual grin. "So, what do ya think of everyone so far that's gone up?"
no subject
Which, also meant she wasn't surprised when they came over to take a seat beside her. It was about time she figured out how she fit into this little chaos anyway.
"All zhe acts are unique. Zhough, I am still not sure how I vill provide zomething equally entertaining." She glanced at him with a smile.
"If I had a gun, I could pull off feats of markmanship zhat vould definitely wow zhe crowd. But, I doubt zhe Ringmaster vould let me be armed zhat easily." And it was probably for the best that she wasn't. Especially with how deadly she was with a gun.
"Zhen again... I haf been told I have a lovely singing voice."
no subject
Well, it's just an idle little thing, he figures, and grins a bit at the mention about her gun. The Ringmaster can be so stubborn on weapons, sometimes, although it depends on the weapons. Still...
"Have ya ever used that kinda accuracy for other things?"
no subject
"Ve used to throw knives for sport vhen ve vere bored in zhe barracks. But, I hafn't done zhat in some time." Though, she was pretty accurate with darts...and well. Rip just had loads of confidence in her aim!
"Vhy, vat did you haf in mind?"
no subject
It's an immediate answer, no dancing around it despite the sing-song tone that his voice takes on while giving it. Certainly, it might be questionable to just immediately have a newcomer get into the act which actively requires deadly weapons, and using those deadly weapons on someone... but they've been needing a good knife thrower for a while now, in Joker's opinion. All the other acts so far have involved putting the performer's life at risk, which is fine- that gets people gasping and clapping all the well. But knife throwing...
Well. His sly grin says he's not regretting the suggestion at all.
no subject
She also briefly wondered if he had any idea how deadly she could be with weaponry like that! Best she not tell him and let him figure that part out himself. "I vould love to haf an act like zhat. I'm sure I could haf zhe crowd on zhe edge of zheir seats in no time."
And...it would be a very creative outlet for her frustrations depending on who her target was.
no subject
"Then I'll get ya some things for practice once we're done with this stop~. I don't think we'll have room in the big top until then, frankly." He gestures to the filled stands. They're trying to leap into things, after all, after such a rubbish time.
"We have plenty of folks who I'm sure wouldn't mind comin' in~." A pause and his grin becomes a little more sly. "Maybe even yank some people from the other departments if they have nothin' better ta do~." The Nightrunners aren't doing anything right...
no subject
Rip glanced around to where he was gesturing and nodded. Everyone seemed to be very focused on their acts and she doubted that even if she had equipment right this moment, she could get edged in on such short notice.
Besides, that allowed her time to practice and find vict-er..volunteers for her act. Though, it seems like he had that already covered~.
"Just zo long az zhey can stomach close calls once I get zhe hang of it.I zhink.. once I haf it down, I might just keep people on zhe edge of zheir seats."
Of course, she was still grinning with fangs and still very delighted at this prospect. Does he have any idea on what he just unleashed?
no subject
Oh, this will be fun. And he can't wait to see what volunteers he can wrestle up.
"Well, Nightriders don't have much ta do once they finish scoutin' out a place, and that's a job which requires a lotta guts. I'm sure they can stomach this."
no subject
It would definitely be unique.
"Lets hope. I vould hate to haf zhem chicken out mid performance und zomething go horribly wrong."
Who is she kidding? Rip would love an excuse to get away with hurting someone.
no subject
"But ya don't have ta worry. Our Nightrunners tend ta be solid enough folks."
Glancing over at her, he considers Rip. "Would ya happen ta be one of them as well, actually?"
no subject
In a way, both jobs really suited her and she found it funny. To entertain and protect~. When she usually destroyed and brought chaos to the battlefield.
no subject
Besides, with how things are going, he thinks Patrol could use all the help it can get.
"Which of yer other coworkers have ya met so far then?"
no subject
"Hm... Not many. I haf not met zhe Varden yet, zhough I probably should zoon enough. Az for ozhers... I haf met Tyki und vat vas his name.. he looked like zome four legged chimera und part of zhe patrol. He said hiz name a lot." Which ironically, Rip tuned out most of the time and forgot.
no subject
"And oh! You've met Zaka~. He's a character, isn't he?"
no subject
"Character might be putting it mildly. Vhy does it seem like most of zhe people on zhe patrol are children?" She was genuinely curious. "At least, zhe ones I haf met."
no subject
"I couldn't rightly tell ya. For the most part, the Ringmaster makes all the decisions of where people go, when they first sign up, based on what she thinks they'd be best at... as far as I can tell, anyway." Sometimes it's half a mystery, and she's never one to tell them anything. "Some of those kids do have skills... but they're still kids in the end." He gestures to one of the exits. "Zaka did die for a bit defendin' this place, so he knows what he's in for."
no subject
"Skills or not, zhey are still kids. Even my own battalion had one but, he vas...impossible to kill. I doubt any of zhese children haf zhat specialization." Or if they did, that was something else entirely. But, hearing that at least Zaka died and confirmed by Joker did make her wonder about the mortality rate around here even if they did come back, obviously.
"At least zhere is zhat. But, fighting should still be left to zhose vith more experience."
