Where: Wismuth and the Carnival Grounds
What: The carnival enjoys a few days in Wismuth, a coastal city on this planet's version of the American east. However, there are a few things very unique about this version of the planet...

PILLAR OF CREATION↴ Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly. ► VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation. ► ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better. ► ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week. ► PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds.

Steven leans in to take a look from wherever he is in the trailer. Bud falls of his hair and onto the bed in surprise.

"Oh... cool!" he says, seeing what she's talking about. He pulls up his lip to show her his own fang, muddying the words that follow: "We match!"

Connie giggled, her fangs inadvertently bared while she laughed.

She'd been so preoccupied with her teeth, that she hadn't noticed her eyes had taken on their own transformation, having taken on a color more similar to her soul color, and her pupils contracting down to a vertical slit.

"Better watch out, I'm gonna be even crazier than you, soon!" She wasn't scared really, but she was definitely playing up the excitement. Staring at Steven now, noticing how much he'd changed.

"Do they... really go away once the contract is over?" She was somewhat Concerned about her parents seeing her like this.

"Uhm... I dunno?" he answers, honestly. "That what people told me, but... it's not like I've seen it happen?" He shrugs his shoulders helplessly.

"It's supposed to go away when you've been gone from the carnival long enough. Though, even if it didn't, the changes might stay hidden because of the glamour like they do everywhere else."

"Is that something the Ring Master does? To protect the carnival?" Strong magic, she suspected.

She wondered what Gonganzaka would look like with a glamour. How does an illusion spell work for something that *size*. Was he just gonna look like a horse and wouldn't be able to go inside buildings and the like?

"Yeah! And so we don't confuse anybody on planets where having wings and stuff isn't normal," he explains, spreading out his own wings in way of example as he speaks. "I don't know how it works, but it's just like... nobody notices we're different."

"It's like being undercover!" he adds a moment later, with a note of excitement.

"Like we're part of a Secret Society," she said. Or a 'secret team' one might also call it.

We know how much Steven loves those. He grins, glad that she can be enthusiastic about that part, at least.

"Yup! The carnival is like a big secret, and we're the ones that get to visit all these new places and share that with people. Though, the best places are the ones where we don't really have to do anything but have fun..."

"Like the moon?" She mostly had fun on the moon. Mostly.

[starseedling]

"Yeah," he agrees, happy to forget about the part where they had a big fight unless it's directly referenced. "And, Alola was pretty fun! That's the place where I met Bud, and Lil!"

He picks up Bud in way of example, who squeals in mild surprise. He cradles her in his arms.

"The best places seem to be right after something really bad happens - I guess because the Ringmaster feels bad and doesn't want to freak anybody out too much. The Moon was like that, too..."

This is sort of becoming a pattern, he realizes.

"Well, you haven't gone to a lot of places, right? A dozen at the most? It's really easy to be an outlier with a sample size that small. Maybe most places are perfectly harmless and great!"

She didn't particularly want to step into another situation like the Prince all over again. She was totally fine with just riding along on the magical space circus that came to new exciting alien places and getting money to buy souvenirs and have fun!
