What: The carnival enjoys a few days in Wismuth, a coastal city on this planet's version of the American east. However, there are a few things very unique about this version of the planet...

Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly.

► VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation.

► ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better.

► ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week.

► PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds.

"It's a micro-" she looked around and bent closer and lowered her voice to a whisper. "-a micro dragon. It's really cool, right?"

"What's this?" Connie asks, finally noticing the sparrow.

"It's definitely really, really micro..." The most micro of all dragons, truly. Reira glances to the bird however, and lets it upon her finger so she can show it better.

"This is...the Sparrow. ...She doesn't have a name, because I don't know how to name things," she explains rather honestly. "...Lots of people gave reasons for how names are made, but I still don't know what works the Right way. ...So it's the Sparrow." Whoops.

As it is, the female sparrow peeps again. "Foster made her alive again, and then gave her to me-so she comes with me in my hair, everywhere."

OH....FOSTER....AH....

Undead bird is such a good opportunity for names, though!

"It needs a really cool name...! Like Blightwing or Risenfeather or Scavenger!"

Foster just made it, huh? "Can Foster make other things just like that?" Could she have an undead horse? She wanted an undead horse. Or a griffin! Undead griffin was even better.

".....But they don't scavenge anything...." Also, she doesn't quite get the other ones, but Okay. She'll focus on what she knows. "Umn...I think Foster just needs one dead thing, and then he can bring it back...but I think he can bring it back different too-like turning mice into dogs..." He said...Something about that right?

"................Asking him for things can be really weird though, so you have to be careful how. He likes to be...." Hmm. How to put this... "...Useful..." ....but... "...But he doesn't like to be...liked?" She frowns, titling her head. ".........He doesn't feel things the way most people do, so it's hard sometimes..."

"Who doesn't want to be liked?" Being liked was something that dominated a lot of Connie's time in social situations. The idea that she was with someone who didn't like her was enough for her to start digging her nails into her palms.

"...Foster doesn't." It's. "....It's...strange, but that's how he is. He just...doesn't feel things right. Sometimes he doesn't feel things at all-he even thinks he never feels things!" Except, well, shit-

She stiffens, realizing something. "....................I wasn't supposed to tell anyone he feels things..." OH...NO.....

....Well regardless. She swallows. "...Foster 'likes' it most, when he thinks you're using him to do things you want for you, or for someone else, instead of him... ...and especially when it's something you don't think about his feelings for. ...It makes him....a weird sort of happy?" It's. Hard to explain. "....It's like happy, but not...HAPPY..."

Empathy is Weird sometimes.

"Oh, that's-" She'd say 'fucked up' if the word existed in any substantial form in her vocabulary.

Connie is trying to wrap her head around that. It sounds like such a sad existence. He only lives to be used? Maybe she could fix him! She'd read exactly one book on human psychology. She was in particular focused on reverse psychology, so she could convince her parents to let her eat junk food. It turns out her mother had already read that book, though.

"I won't tell anyone, I can keep a secret," she says. She kept the fact that her friend was part magical space gem living with three superheroes a secret from her parents for a few good weeks.

Phew. She sighs, nodding. And honestly... "....It's hard to find a word for why it's not good," she says quietly, understanding Connie's feelings immensely. But...Well. Regardless. "Umn, I guess, if you see him, you'll know it's him really fast though... ...He's definitely the only one who acts like Foster." The ONLYYYY ONE.

..Now.

The things that have been bugging her.

"..................what's a 'Blight' wing? ...Or a 'Risen' feather?"

"Oh," wait, 'what' is a Blight wing?

"It's not- it's a name," she tried to explain. And now she's understanding what the other people who tried earlier were feeling. "It's not anything by itself, its a combination of things. A 'blight' is an event that happens where a regions crops are massively dying, and then Sparrow has a wing, so you mash it up because it sounds cool, right? It's less about what it is and more about what the name evokes when you say them together. "Death" and "Flight". Get it?"

"Mnnhh... ...." ....She's not entirely sure she likes it. "....I guess if there was a bird that could do that, it would be good... ...the Sparrow just does Sparrow things though, and sits in my hair all day..."

"...And I guess tries to scare the Eagle a lot..." eagle, what, what eagle-

Reira you're killing her with this super literalness, and this is coming from someone that is generally pretty literal-minded. Has she never heard of 'rule of cool?'

"You have an eagle too?! Is it also undead?"

She supposed that 'eaglebane' might fit Reira's criteria, but it didn't thematically fit with a tiny bird like that.

"She's definitely not dead..!!" She may have shouted that. The shopkeeper may have looked up.

Briefly. Briefly. Considering one is holding a book, the other is holding a cat, and a sparrow is really hard to see-let alone a firefly, from wherever they are-the keep seems to assume they're talking about the sleepy kitty.

As it is. "Umn-" She quiets herself. "...The eagle came from the Caravan. She's really big, and she can deliver things... ....I don't know what to call her either... ...She's a 'Scarlet Eagle'? I think it means she has lots of red feathers, because she does..."

That was a very unexpected reaction to that, and Connie has no idea how to approach this child who is only circumstantially cool with death.

"Sorry! I didn't meant to-" she has no idea what she just did so its hard to apologize.

"Um. Anyway. It could be that she's a scarlet eagle because of the feathers, but it might have something to do with it's scientific category, there's lots of factors that go into naming species." Assuming this wasn't just a unique magic bird.

She was probably less horrified and more insulted on the Eagle's behalf, if it means anything.

Eagle is too cool, to be undead. Regardless. ".....There are?" She Has Never Done A Schooling- But then again, elementary school might not have gotten there yet even if she went.
