⇨ WISMUTH

Who: Everyone!
When: S2:D6-D11
Where: Wismuth and the Carnival Grounds
What: The carnival enjoys a few days in Wismuth, a coastal city on this planet's version of the American east. However, there are a few things very unique about this version of the planet...
Warnings: The usual, wholesome fun.

PILLAR OF CREATION

Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly.

VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation.

ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better.

ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week.

PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds.

[The owner of that name looks up from where he's seated and stands to head over to the intruder in the tent.]

Yes. That would be me.

[Now it merely remained to be seen what the other wanted from him.]

[personal profile] moonfang 2018-02-08 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
[The intruder is a fairly strange one to look at. White skin, white hair, and white hare's ears and legs... except they seem to be covered in soft feathers instead of fur. At least he's wearing some clothes with color; a tee-shirt and some loose-fitting jeans. His voice is as strange as his appearance, and is distorted]

Yo, Zangetsu, with acquisitions.

[he holds up the piece of paper; on it is a crude but accurate drawing of a spinning wheel]

Where the hell am I s'posed ta find one of these in a high tech world like this one?! [he flicks his wrist and lets the paper flutter to the ground] It's downright archaic!

[Gold noted the quirks of the others appearance and voice. Given how he's looked in the past, he has no grounds to be judgy about such quirks in other people. He nods slightly in acknowledgment of the name and station before letting his gaze drop to the paper held up for him.]

Try an antique shop, they have those here. If you fail to find one there, check the museums.

[The second remark was more of a joking suggestion, but he really didn't care overmuch if it was taken as a serious suggestion, no doubt the museum could replace the spinning wheel if they cared about its disappearance.]
moonfang: (goddammit.)

[personal profile] moonfang 2018-02-10 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Their "antiques" are probably more like modern tech from my world! [ah? ... a museum??]

You want me to rob a museum? Do you know how BIG those places are?! I'll have to come in during the day, knock out the security, drag that fuckin' thing out the door... Sounds like a lot of work. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't find one of these instead.

[he pulls a photo out of his pocket, this one seeming to be clipped from a magazine, showing a much smaller, sleeker, modern version. He hands it to Gold] Look. Even an old fart like you can pick this one up and carry it around.

I've visited the antique shops. If you bother to look, you should be capable of finding something that should serve me better than that sad excuse for a spinning wheel.

[His disdain for the one in the picture is readily apparent as he examined the clipping before letting it fall to the floor, torching it before it reached the ground.]

Perhaps I can motivate you to find me something better than that farce of a wheel. Find me an actual spinning wheel, and you will get a string of gold. If you manage to obtain a great wheel like I want, then that string will be the length of your arm. If it's smaller, the string will be likewise smaller. Understood?

It's not sad! It's "very light weight, easy to carry, very portable and easy to pack in a suitcase." [did he read that verbatim off the magazine cutout? Yes. He did. He watches the scrap burn with an uninterested eye, then looks back up to Gold as he starts to make his offer]

Ah? A string of gold? [that... does interest him! Sparkling, shiny things... they were getting his attention more than usual these days. But--

He holds his arm out straight, looking at the length, then holds up two fingers
]

Double. As long as my arm, doubled. One little arm's length isn't quite enough for all the trouble, ne? But two... yeah, I can see breaking into a museum for that.

I have no need for the wheel I want to be 'portable and easy to pack away'. [The attempt to haggle for a better reward though earned something of a small amused smirk from him. Greed for gold was something he was very familiar with.]

Very well. If you do manage to obtain a great wheel style spinning wheel for me, then I will give you double your arm's length. Anything less and you only get one or half of your arm's length. Do we have a deal?
moonfang: (ufufu)

[personal profile] moonfang 2018-02-11 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Greed for gold? Greed for everything. Zangetsu had never had the opportunity to have his own things. Now he wants it all. Perhaps more dragon than rabbit...

Zangetsu considers. A museum... would also have a bunch of rare, expensive gems, wouldn't it? He could get something for Kaguya's collar. And some things for himself.

He'd bring a big bag with him.
]

Oh, me holding up my end of this bargain isn't gonna be the issue. You may have to put it back together, but I'll get it. [he extends his hand, sharp black claws tipping long fingers] We have an accord?

[personal profile] magicsprice 2018-02-11 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe we do. [He accepts the hand without qualm, the black claws nothing unusual for him, given the way his own nails had once looked back in the world of his birth.]

You'll get your payment shortly after you deliver. [He does need time to create said payment after all.]
moonfang: (almost human)

[personal profile] moonfang 2018-02-11 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[The claws are every bit as sharp as they look, and one thoughtless move would result in a nasty scratch. Thankfully for Gold, Zangetsu withdraws his hand soon after the shake without incident]

So... if you don't mind me askin', whatcha need one of those things for? [he jerks his head at the 3D printer machine] The other wardrobe ladies said they could make whatever fabric they wanted with that.
magicsprice: (pic#7853187)

[personal profile] magicsprice 2018-02-12 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
{Oh Zangetsu can definitely ask, though it doesn't necessarily mean he'll get a straight answer.]

Fabric, yes. What I have in mind isn't fabric and thus can't really be created with that.

[The wheel was more for his personal benefit and personal reasons than anything else. It would occupy his time when he wasn't working and the carnival was sleeping while he wasn't. Though that wasn't to say it couldn't benefit the carnival in some manner. Be it via improving upon the designs created and made by those working to create the wardrobe for the performers or subtly providing funding if needed via the sale of what he could make in the realms they visited.]
moonfang: (ah?)

[personal profile] moonfang 2018-02-12 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
[a man after his own heart. Why give straight answers when you can fuck with people?]

... I guess I don't really understand what a spinning wheel is for, then. [he thought it was something you made fabric with... somehow. In a way, it is? Thread and yarn is part of making fabric] Oh. What parts of these things can be taken apart? It won't be too heavy fer me, but might be a little ungainly all in one piece.
magicsprice: (pic#12005030)

[personal profile] magicsprice 2018-02-18 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[He chuckled softly at the first remark.] The purpose can vary depending upon the spinner.

Oh, a number of parts can be disassembled to make moving it easier. Namely, the wheel, legs, drive wheel, and the base. I can put it back together easily enough if you disassemble it, just be certain not to break or lose any of the smaller pieces of it.

[While he could replace them, it would be an inconvenience and he was paying for a complete working wheel here after all.]
moonfang: (is that so)

[personal profile] moonfang 2018-03-04 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Tch. You tryin' to sound all fancy and mysterious on purpose...?

[Zangetsu makes a mental note. He's not sure which pieces are which... though the "wheel" seems obvious, as do the legs. The drive wheel... probably the smaller one? And the base was the big thing it all sat on.

.... Well, he'd have to scout out the museum, anyway.
]

Yeah yeah. I won't break it...
