⇨ WISMUTH

Who: Everyone!
When: S2:D6-D11
Where: Wismuth and the Carnival Grounds
What: The carnival enjoys a few days in Wismuth, a coastal city on this planet's version of the American east. However, there are a few things very unique about this version of the planet...
Warnings: The usual, wholesome fun.

PILLAR OF CREATION

Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly.

VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation.

ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better.

ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week.

PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds.

D17 - Closed to Peridot

Foster is.... exhausted. But he's not done. He's not done.

The instant 9S releases him, he makes a beeline for the Supervisor's grove, fumbling with the radio in his little paws en route through the rest of the Carnival.

He'd not-very-subtly gone out of his way to avoid Peridot after Portland, and he was perfectly content with that; even after Amethyst returned, he had no desire to rummage in that mess. But now they have a shared interest, and that interest is Amethyst.

They don't know where to find her, but as long as Steven doesn't go to ground, they do know how. They know what master she serves, and what power her master serves. But it's that master's first servant whose game they're playing. Not just Noa, but Steven and Amethyst, and now 9S and Foster too. If they're going to see an end to this, it's going to require CY-Ren, and that's.... unfortunate.

Because when it comes to music, Foster doesn't know shit about fuck.

So he hopes Peridot does.

But step one... he has to get ahold of her.

So if she doesn't pick up on the radio, he'll start by knocking on her door.

[OOC: Ever been so tired you didn't notice something could have been an inbox thing until after you've written an entire log top level? No? Whoops.]

For Peridot, day 17 is the day from hell. Or maybe it's more the fallout from the day from hell? Whatever. It doesn't matter! The last week has been absolute garbage for her, and things don't seem to be looking up any, what with her friends still missing, and her still not being chosen as a guardian, and then getting into a very embarrassingly emotional argument with Jasper over the public network...

Point is, she's already not in a great mood when there's a knocking at her door that afternoon. In fact she is very thoroughly settled down in mope-town, lazing about her trailer and straight up refusing to move, at all. She looks like a mess when she opens the door to Foster, her hair all unkempt, bags under her eyes.

Strangely enough-- and this might be a first in the history of the entire multiverse-- she actually visibly perks up at the sight of Foster on her doorstep, a surge of hope clutching at her chest. Their last conversation had been about locating Amethyst, and if Foster is coming to visit her now... Well. Maybe he has a lead. Maybe, at last, this is the good news that she's in such sore need of.

Holy fuck that icon, also

Foster is decidedly unused to people opening the door and looking.... what does he even call it, really? Excited? Happy? Hopeful?
So really has no toolkit for respond to that kind of thing, except the knowledge that there is clearly a mistake being made and that it will be corrected. The mere fact of his existence will ensure that.

On the other hand, maybe she just really likes teddy bears. He just has no idea any more.

He still skips right over starting with something introduction-appropriate, though. You know, like 'hello.' Or maybe 'did you get the number of the dinosaur that ran you over?'

"Steven still has Amethyst," is his first announcement, delivered grimly.

Frankly, he's having the same kind of week Peridot is, so she's a little lucky he didn't respond to her opening the door with 'big mood.'

"But I... might have something about CY-Ren." Her turns his head slightly, regarding her speculatively out of the corner of one beady little eye. "Do you know anything about music?"

Well. Way to shut her down right quick there, Foster. He expression falls again instantly, only recovering a little when he asks that question.

"I know everything about music," she brags, folding her arms and sticking her nose up a little. "Musical structure and theory, anyway. Why? What did you find out?"

Followed by my fave Peridot face. :V

Musical structure and theory...

That's probably not everything, but it's what he was hoping for. Sorry, Peridot. Herbert's little mad science experiment inside Foster's skull didn't grow him any extra empathy. It's not that he hasn't noticed her reactions, it's just that he mostly seems nonplussed by them.

Foster has only the basic idea of the presence of patterns in music, but outside of that, it's all just noise. He's confident in his ability to understand where there's a difference, but the actual message?

That's why he needs a second ear.

"Noa has... recordings of CY-Ren's old music," he begins, crossing his furry arms over his chest before immediately disliking it and uncrossing them again. Instead, he rests one set of claws on his 'hip,' which is also his front legs' animal shoulder. Not that there's much shoulder to see. He's just too fluffy for that.

"From before she was a Harbinger."
periphrasing: (Boring.)

I aim to please :')

She raises her eyebrows a little, frowning. This is obviously important somehow, or he wouldn't come to her door to bring it up, but uh. Heck if she can figure out why?

"And... This is supposed to help us... How, exactly?"

He stares at her like he cannot believe she asked such a stupid goddamn question.

"You know what her Spark is, right?"

But he really wasn't prepared for that question, and he wears it on his face. His round, soft little face. It only occurs to him in that instant that she might not know. She might not even know--

"You know... what a Spark is... right?"
periphrasing: (No you are REQUIRED to like me!)

[personal profile] periphrasing 2018-03-08 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course I know what a Spark is," she sneers automatically, affronted by the question. "Why? What's CY-ren's?"
