Where: The carnival, Zargon, and Olympic Spaceship

REACH FOR THE STARS↴![]() At first glance, the Space Olympics seem marvelous. Aliens from all over the universe, of all shapes and sizes have joined together in an intergalactic display of teamwork and sportmanship. What could be more inspiring than that? It's only when you hang around for a bit that you notice things aren't exactly in tip-top shape. ► OLYMPIC SPACESHIP: This is where most of the events are held. It's a massive spaceship spanning hundreds of miles and consisting of multiple floors. Teleportation discs and space public transport can take you anywhere on the spaceship in a blink of an eye. It has almost every amenity an athlete can think of: multiple gyms, practice arenas, saunas, etc. Likewise, there are plenty of things for civilians and spectators: merchandise stands, shopping malls, grocery stores, and television screens everywhere so people can watch the event. Shuttles to and from Zargon arrive on a regular basis. ► ZARGON: Facility wise, Zargon itself is less impressive than Olympic Spaceship. The carnival and the athlete's village comprise most of the habitable areas. Both are concealed underneath a large biodome, the main thing making the area livable. Enterprising Zargonites have set up stands that let people explore outside of the biodome. Rent a spacesuit and you too can enjoy Zargon's natural wonders, such as the distant red plateaus and the stunning solar winds. Just try and stay away from the toxic mold, naturally occurring pockets of hallucinogenic gas, and ten foot tall Zargon Death Flytrap. ► 1980s TRAINING MONTAGE: Since carnival members can only attempt to medal in one event, why not try different sports to see what that one event is? There's equipment for all sorts of sports: gymnastics, swimming, biathalon, snowboarding, etc. They've even somehow brought space horses up here for Space Dressage! There's also equipment for sports that carnival members might not have even known existed: Space Gymkata, Space Pooh Sticks, Space Limbo Skating, etc. The sky's the limit! ► A BIT OF A BUDGET SNAFU: The Space Olympics is kind of falling apart. After performance week, the carnival is drafted to help out and keep the Space Olympics running as smoothly as possible. This means fixing buildings, breaking up fights, helping in the kitchen, trying to sell merch, etc. If there's a feasible problem, the carnival members will be drafted to help fix it. The biggest problem of all is the multiple mechanical failures: artificial gravity stops working, temperatures on the ship rapidly shift from hot to cold, and the snow machines for Space Slopestyle won't turn off. ► PERFORMANCE: Performance week will start early this stop, to try and get everyone back into the swing of things after the chaos of Wismuth. Athletes from the village roam the carnival, taking in the sights and sounds. A lot of them haven't ever seen anything like the magic of the carnival and it's workers and will proceed to ask question after question about how all of this works: turns out that sci-fi and fantasy don't crossover as much as one would think. Still, don't be alarmed when you turn the corner and there's a Hutt trying his hand at test your strength. |

It doesn't look like there's any point in sitting anymore, so she pulls herself up to her feet and brushes her tunic off. "So that's what you normally look like," she says. Rita's not sure what she expected, but... well, he could be weirder.
And yet... hm. Something looked a little off when he transformed back. "Aside from the cat spell..." she begins, looking thoughtful, "do you use any other magic?" If he's a carnival magician, he could be a genuine mage of some kind.
ahhh sorry for edits >_O
His cheerful appearance isn't anything special. Portuguese brown skin, golden eyes, panther ears and tail, unless the small and flightless manticore wings from the Manor counted for and/or against anything. "For the most part," he responds because in truth this skin tone wasn't his true coloration and his glamour hid a lot.
In the three or so months, he's kind of lost count with the whole Manor ordeal, that he's been here magic was still a word he was getting use to. Sure he had it but the phrase wasn't as wildly used other than by sorcerers that solely had magic from learning. Unlike Strange's word, there was a fine difference in his own magic. He had awakened to it. He never had to learn it. Still, he answers her question, "I do. My act might be something of a trick but I still use my magic to achieve it." It wasn't just smoke and mirrors, which ironically was Strange's whole gimmick with actual magic.
sorry for tagging late!
"What kind of magic?" she asks eagerly. There's no guarantee that it'll be something applicable to her research... but there's always a chance. Hearing about the magic of other worlds is always interesting, besides. There's got to be more to it than stage tricks.
it happens!
"Well, there is my basic magic," he begins, not really understanding that she's looking for an actual type of magic, "that allows me to move through anything I want to. Solid matter, air, water, oxygen." He might not mention his glamour because his grey skin is something of a secret.
no subject
Which, of course, means she has to see it. "You mind demonstrating for me?"
no subject
He raises a brow at her request and grins, "If you really want to see." He does like showing off. His fingers twitch as he resists the urge to show Rita his power the way he shows his enemies or the Stage Manager. She's already shown her displeasure at his other tricks and he's sure an arm through her chest would piss her off, if not scare her first.
He takes a step backwards but instead of his heel touching the ground it goes right through it along with his body. It's as if the world just swallowed him up and absorbed him as he falls right through.
no subject
The trick he shows her instead takes Rita by surprise despite the warning, and she gasps audibly when he suddenly sinks into the ground. Surely he knows what he's doing, and he chose to show her this way because he knows it's perfectly safe. But it's hard not to imagine a worst-case scenario... his body becoming trapped underground, or just sinking forever...
But that won't happen, right? Rita turns her head to look around, eyes on the ground. He'll surely resurface somewhere nearby, won't he?
no subject
Oh, he won't leave a lady waiting for long. He rises from behind her but off to the side as not to startle her and allows his feet to touch the ground once more. He's 100 percent intact with no damage and will spread his hands wide for her to inspect as if he's on display. He loves showing off and it shows with the way he smirks, "Satisfied? If not, take my hand."
To which he'll offer his hand, palm upwards, towards her. Should she try to take it, she'll find she can't. Well, not unless she tries to attack it.
no subject
She's not exactly dissatisfied, but when he offers his hand, her curiosity drives her to reach for it... only to watch her hand pass right through his.
Her brow furrows as she swipes her hand back and forth through his, looking as if she's trying to decipher some kind of trickery.
"This magic... is it something you were born with? Or did you learn it somehow?"
no subject
His hand stays outward and upwards in a gentle motion as her hand swipes back and forth through his hand. She can do it as many times as she likes and he'll let her. He'll even indulge if she tries to touch any other part of him. The result is the same.
"I was not born with it," a half lie given all humans could possible become what he is if they are chosen, "I learned it when I inherited it." His magic was not like Strange's. His came from a source.
no subject
"Inherited it?" she repeats, a questioning look on her face. "From who? Or what?" As always, there's a question in her mind begging to be answered: is this magic applicable in her world? And even if not... can she still learn from it?
no subject
"Every time one of us dies, another human is capable of awakening to its power." Except what he isn't tell her is the horrid details that come with it. The pain, the suffering, the sudden goal. It was akin to Harbingers but without that emptiness.
no subject
Oh well. Curiosity in itself is plenty of reason to investigate, isn't it?
"You said this was your 'basic magic'..." she begins, gaze focused on Tyki. "That means you have other abilities, right?"
no subject
He raises his legs off the ground and sits there, right in the air, as if there was an invisible chair. "Yes. The source of my magic that flows within me gives me certain benefits as well. Speed, strength, for example." But to answer her question properly he looks down towards the ground for two small rocks and rolls them in his fingers. He lets her watch as both are set into his hands and then he'll gently pushes them against each other. Slowly, so she can watch carefully, he'll pass one rock into the other and essentially fuse them together at the middle.
no subject
Rita watches with fascination, her eyes widening when she sees the rocks combine.
"They fused!?" Her mind races for an explanation. "Then... it's not just your body that can pass through other objects... You can apply the same phenomenon to other things, too. Is that it?"
no subject
He continues to grin wide as those rocks are placed into the palm of his hand. He holds it out to her for Rita to take if she so wishes. Some people liked the closer inspection and others wanted simply to watch.
"That's the concept of it," he begins, choosing not to reveal all of his cards at once. The trick was to any of this is that he had to be touching it. The rocks weren't fused so much as one was simply stuck inside of the other.
no subject
"So you stuck one inside the other... but what happens to the overlapped matter?"
Briefly, she wishes she had a chisel handy so she could break the rock apart and inspect it properly. In fact... maybe she can, later, if Tyki doesn't have other plans for it.
no subject
"I hadn't really thought about that, if I am honest with you, Miss Mordio. My magic works as it is intended." In his world, he had the ability to manipulate it. If he wanted to fuse to things together over into each other, it would simply happen.
no subject
"What do you use it for?" she asks, slipping the fused rock into one of the large pockets of her tunic. "I'm assuming you don't just smash rocks together all the time."
Such an ability could probably be used in a wide variety of ways, depending on how creative the user is.
no subject
His hands fold out wide like he doesn't understand her question as a whole. What else would he use his magic for? To entertain? He's not a magician at home, only here, so it takes some thought to process what he wants to say, "Surveillance, recreation, protection, manipulation. The possibilities of this magic are endless." He could likely save lives if he wanted to.
no subject
Rita's no pacifist. She's probably killed a few dozen people herself. But war, and using magic as a tool of war, always makes her a little uncomfortable. Perhaps it's the political aspect... the idea that people fight and die for their leaders or their ideals, even if they have no personal beef with the enemy soldiers they fight against. It just seems so pointless.
"So what, you're some kind of soldier? Or just the type to get involved?"
no subject
Tyki didn't fit into the normal terms of war. He wasn't doing it for land or territory. He did it for the shared Noah goal of the world's destruction so it would be renewed and created again much like the old tales of Noah's Ark in biblical references. Of course, no one would ever find out if he had his say in the matter.
He chuckles deeply and he lets his hand extend outwards once more. This time it dips down towards his chest and he bows, his Victorian manners coming into play. Just to show off his clothes begin to change on the spot and on Rita's next blink he's no longer wearing such a casual attire but one of a Victorian Noble. "No, I am a Lord of the Court that sometimes has to get my hands dirty." And he loves it.
no subject
"Well, there's a shocker. Most nobles I've known wouldn't dream of doing their own dirty work." There's a distinct flatness in her voice. Yep, Rita's never been a big fan of nobility.
She'll give credit where credit's due, though. They're not all bad. Estelle was different, after all...
no subject
"You aren't the first to mention that. I still had my servants to maintain the house. I just enjoyed the travel, and while I was the public face of the family in most cases, I also run errands." He couldn't cook his own meals except for small things over fire. He didn't know how to do his laundry or the simpliest tasks. Despite his words he's still a very spoiled noble. "Don't praise me too much. I know what high society is like." And he hates it.
no subject
"Errands... hmph." Considering combat was the first thing to come to mind when it came to his uses for magic, Rita can somewhat imagine what sort of errands that might entail.
"... I'd better get back to work," she says after a delay. One hand reaches into her pocket and feels the fused rock inside it. She is so going to dissect this thing later. "I'll see you around, I guess." She doesn't sound the most enthused about it, but all things considered, she's being more amicable than she could be.
