THE ALIEN HORDES↴ ![]() On the morning of Day 44, things go a bit differently. The carnival opens it's doors and for an hour, things are going just fine...until the aliens attack, that is. ► ALIEN INVASION: The carnival, the athlete's village, and Olympic Spaceship will find themselves overrun by aliens: specifically, a race called the Greimen. The name's accurate: they look like stereotypical grey aliens, only 2-4 feet tall. They're invading the spaceship and the planet, trying to take control of Zargon and Olympic Spaceship for themselves. The main strength these aliens have is their numbers: there's literally thousands of them. Unfortunately for the aliens, they don't have many other strengths. They're easily punchable, kickable, ray guns permanently set to stun, and other amusing space weapons designed to minorly inconvenience people. ► FUCK THIS SHIT I'M OUT: The fighting lasts for a good half-hour or so before the Ringmaster decides no, this is dumb. Characters who aren't at the carnival will feel a compulsion to return to the carnival. Once everyone's there, the Ringmaster will magically eject the remaining aliens from carnival grounds and yank the carnival away from the Olympics themselves. ► OOC GUIDELINES: Despite the fact that this is a fight log, the carnage shouldn't be too excessive! No horribly mutilating the aliens, y'all. The aliens are only mildly better equipped than the Space Olympics themselves, so everything will be a bit comedic and light-hearted. Characters can get hurt, but the wounds should tend more towards 'amusing injuries' than 'someone losing a leg'. As the log's forward-dated, feel free to keep doing all your fun space olympics nonsense in the other logs! |

With the invasion comes chaos, but there are some who manage to organize groups to fight back against the Greimen. Your character may come across one such scene, as a whole squad of aliens can be seen retreating, some of them hopping and gripping their ankles in pain.
It doesn't take long to see what it is that's driving them away, as they're followed by a group of small battle-ready robots, all shorter than the average person's knee. Some buzz as their saws spin, others wobble as they flail a pickaxe-like weapon around. A few, including Rita's own Hecate II, spit fire as they pursue the aliens. There might also be an actual Roomba with a knife taped to it among them.
Following shortly behind is a row of aliens holding remote controls, each commanding an individual robot. Among them is Rita, still in the form of a faceless gas-person, but seemingly enjoying the chase nonetheless.
"We've got them on the run!" she calls to the others, apparently taking a leadership role in this operation. "Let's keep it up! Rush them again, see if we can force them to split up!"
[b: psychological warfare]
Elsewhere in the station, and at another time, Rita may be found cornered by an alien wielding a weirdly retro-looking ray gun. She stands tall and stares him down with no sign of cowering, but she's backed against a wall with no clear way to escape. It seems like she's in trouble... or is she?
Should one come near them, they might catch some of what she's saying.
"...and that doesn't even scratch the surface of how stupid this whole plan is! Do you even have any brains inside that gigantic head of yours?"
It seems like her words are having some effect, as the Greimen's lip starts to quiver and the hand holding the ray gun appears to tremble.

Thankfully, he's coming around from behind the Greimen as he tries to find his way out of here, instead facing a faceless Rita in a stand off. And hearing her lay on insult after insult.
"Uh..." He steps carefully around, holding his hands up in a placating gesture and looking between them. "Hey, let's stop for a second."
no subject
"There's nothing to stop. This spineless freak doesn't even have the guts to do anything."
The Greiman blinks rapidly, seemingly fighting back tears. At the very least, it doesn't seem like he's about to shoot either of them, though it's hard to tell if Rita's provocations might change that.
no subject
He creeps closer, stretching his arm out slowly. "Hey, you don't have to prove anything to her... but you still shouldn't shoot her. Or anyone!"
He tries to tap the gun, pointing it to the ground and away from Rita.
no subject
Rita just shakes her head, clearly unimpressed.
no subject
"Hey, it's okay... can you tell me what this is all about? Why you're attacking the station?"
no subject
Rita would probably be rolling her eyes if she had any right now. "Looks to me like you're just embarrassing yourself and your empire," she mutters dryly, prompting the alien to point his weapon back at her, his face twisting in anger and indignation.
Sorry Yuya, Rita is totally not helping.
no subject
He quickly turns back to the Greimen. "You know, this isn't the way to get people to respect you at all! They'll just resent you and fight back, and then that's all you'll be doing. It goes both ways!"
no subject
Stupid Yuya. She didn't ask him to help her or anything... but, whatever. She'll see where this goes.
"There is no other way!" the Greimen shouts back at him. "If... if we can take this space station, we'll be able to handle any retaliation! But if we back down now, we'll look weak and we'll lose our leverage... so...!"
no subject
He waves his hands in vague emphasis. "This whole event was to bring people together from all over space! You aren't hurting just the Zargonites, you know. You'll push everyone away if you continue like this, and they'll all think of you like Rita does."
Sure, he can just use her bullying as leverage to make his point.
no subject
The Greimen takes another step back, eyes darting around as if conflicted. "But..." He focuses his stare on Yuya. His gun's still pointed at Rita as best it can be, with Yuya between them, but his aim seems to drift slightly away as the conversation distracts him. "What are we supposed to do, then!? How are we to get the respect we deserve!?"
no subject
"There has to be stuff you can do or have that the Zargonites don't. Just like they do, right? You could trade. People respect their friends the most, so it's better to work together."
Or at least, some people respect their friends the most. Plenty others respect just authority or power, but seeing as Yuya's trying to talking them down from violence he's sure not going to point that out.
no subject
It's then that a distant explosion rattles the platform they're on, and the Greimen looks over his shoulder in panic. "No... our shuttle!" he cries, then gives another wary look to Yuya and Rita. He points the ray gun between them, but doesn't fire it. Instead, he takes several more steps back... then turns and runs away, shouting, "You got lucky this time!" as he flees to aid his brethren.
Rita just sighs. "Thought he'd never leave..." she grumbles.

a!
Cole wheels over to Rita. When he speaks, it's in his normal voice, though there's a slight robotic filter over it.
"What do you need to fix them?"
He doesn't really know how long they'll remain here, but if Rita can give him hands and give him hands fairly quickly? He'll take that.
no subject
But the sound of its voice and the vagueness of its question tip her off right away. It's Cole, and he's asking something without any context, which is pretty much normal for him.
"Fix... what, the robots?" Rita glances between him and the pursuing battle bots. Fortunately, despite Rita's distraction, the others seem to be going ahead with her plan, charging the aliens and driving them to split up, jabbing a few in the shins while they're at it. Looks like she can afford a little side conversation here. "Why? You need something fixed?"
no subject
"I'd like hands."
He does indeed need something fixed. Cole's tone is very matter of fact, as if asking for hands is a perfectly reasonable suggestion that Rita would obviously be able to carry out.
no subject
Rita tilts her head slightly, taking a look at his... plunger? Is that what he has for an arm? Yeah, that's weird.
"Kind of in the middle of something, Cole," Rita points out. How long does he think it'd take for her to build him a pair of working hands!?
no subject
"I see that," Cole responds. He's not an idiot, he can see that the robots are fighting and aliens are invading and all that (even if he isn't entirely sure why the aliens are invading in the first place.) "Can you help when you're finished with the something?"
no subject
But there's a pause as Rita runs a few quick ideas through her head, and then she looks back to him.
"...Tell you what. Some of the robots didn't make it this far... there's a bunch of busted ones along the way we came." The aliens managed to pick a few off in the fight, at least. "If you can find one with a grabbing mechanism, I can try attaching it to your body." It would be a lot easier than building something from scratch, and while it probably wouldn't function great, it'd be an improvement.
no subject
"How do I bring you the busted one?"
Because again, no hands. Should he just kick it? He's leaning towards kick it, Cole can't really think of any other options. And granted, he doesn't have legs to kick things, but he can definitely push it over to Rita like a bumper car. But what if he breaks it while pushing it?
no subject
"...You seriously don't have any means of moving things?" she asks, incredulous. Out of habit, she rubs at where her temples would normally be. "Ugh... There isn't anything for hands around here... Maybe I can give you a wedge, or a hook..." Something easy to install, that might offer more utility than just running into the thing and pushing it around.
no subject
"I can push things!" he helpfully offers. Though again, that's not much use.
no subject
Rita steers her robot into a relatively safe place, then takes a look around. Her gaze settles on a wedge-shaped robot that appears to have some wiring hanging out of it. Rita walks over, picks it up, and brings it over to Cole.
"This one's equipped with a hinged flipper. If I attach it at your base, you should be able to lift things off the ground -- just enough to carry them." Bringing it over to Cole, she now takes a good, close look at his shell. "I'll need to see your wiring. Is there a panel I can use to look inside...?"
no subject
Well. This is new for Cole as well. He thought he could do that but he didn't know he could do that. Almost instantly, the eye of the squid thing blinks as Cole tries to adjust for the fact that he's now got two eyes who can see things and he doesn't really know how to swap from one to the other.
no subject
"Wh... what the hell!? You had an organic body in there all along!?"
She definitely thought he was a robot. Also, the squid body is super gross.
