Where: The Camping Grounds
What: While the Ringmaster attempts to purge the carnival of magical tracing spells and deal with the angry fire fae in her belly, everyone else is getting sent on an emergency camping trip with some unusual local fauna.
Warnings: Camping.

CRYPTIC CAMPGROUNDS↴ You're given about three hours to prepare, after the Ringmaster tells you her plans for the coming week. There is a vast selection of camping equipment at your disposal, and the means to take along enough food for the length of the stay. The wilderness of the planet you're left on is nearly idyllic, but some people just don't like the great outdoors. ► CRYPTOZOOLOGY: As it turns out, the carnival won't be alone here. There is a varied ecosystem of cryptids to be found as well, living in relative peace and mostly reacting to the newcomers with curiousity. More details can be found on the plotting post. You are free to NPC the cryptids as much as you need to, as long as you stick to the behaviours described. ► DREAMSHARING: There is a player plot going on which will allow characters to share dreams! These are specifically more dreams than nightmares, and the mushi-adept characters will be here to help. ► CHILLAX: There isn't any plot twist for this setting, so this is mostly an opportunity to decompress from the last plot and get ready for the future. The Ringmaster will show up occasionally to help with needed medical treatments and check on things, but won't stick around for long.

[Oh look. There's even more now but at least this is the last batch he's going to throw into the air for now.] Tease, feast on the bugs.

[They move quickly with their sharp wings and ever vigilant gaze, crunching down on unsuspecting bugs that happen to move by them.]

Here and there when necessary. [And he's cheating with his Power to Choose. He pulls on the tent and it'll rise with some fortitude before his hand glosses down the side and feeds the metal where it should. Then with his hand dipping into the ground the end poles wedge inside.]

[ here's the thing about tyki: he's kind of scary. but, rhys is seeing that he's kind of really useful too? don't get rhys wrong, he never wants to get on tyki's bad side because these useful things can probably be used to beat the crap out of him but rhys wasn't able to produce bug eating butterflies or pitch a tent so...he was impressed. ]

Could have used someone like you back on Pandora.

[ Zer0 was cool and all but he hadn't stuck around and he'd broken rhys' heart when he'd left. would tyki have done that? rhys doesn't know but some of the things he could do would have been cool to have access to. ]

I might have avoided a few death defying chases if I did.

[Seeing as he could pluck Rhys' heart from his chest in less than a second? Probably a good idea to keep him on his good side. Then again, the Ringmaster keeps him on an effective leash and collar. He's not going to harm anyone out of anger or pettiness. That's just not his style anyways.]

Pandora? Is that a country or city? [Or maybe another planet. He knows not everyone is from Earth like he is, even with several Earths being different.]

I wasn't aware that such a business man was in that kind of danger often.

Pandora's a planet. A horrible, dangerous, valuable planet.

[ why couldn't all the good stuff be on some nice, serene, awesome planet? no, put it on the planet with terrifying creatures and huge cliffs that you could drive right over and never be heard from again. ]

Hey, sometimes businessmen have to get their hands dirty. I lead by example.

[ yeah, right. ]

Most really valuable places are dangerous over time even if they don't start off that way.

[Because humans are greedy and will never stop with their need to hoard, acquire, and destroy the competition.]

If you say so, Mister Rhys. [Tyki could understand that but he wasn't exactly a businessman. Still, he's going to keep poking at Rhys because he can. The tent raises all the way up until it is set in the ground permanently with his power. It's set up and he's admiring his work.

Then he's going to stand up to dust himself off and grab his things. Look at that, he's moving right into the tent like he owns the place.]

Wait a minute.

[ rhys can only stare as tyki makes like he's moving in because, well, he is moving in. rhys is just standing there, staring until he shakes himself free and follows tyki in. ]

What are you doing in my tent?

[He might not be able to tease him with nicknames, for a few days longer, but he's going to keep teasing through other ways, like this.]

You're a business man, right? [Or so he keeps saying.] I helped create this tent solely, in building and construction of it, so I'm taking half the entitlement~♥

What?

[ no really, W H A T? it's taking him a little time to catch up with this sudden change in events. ]

You weren't doing this just to be nice?

[ yeah right, rhys. ]

I thought it was nice.

[He says with the most bright facial expression he can muster.]

But, if you want to be out here alone with the monsters lurking in the dark in the middle of the night I can probably find you another tent.

No, that's not what I meant.

[ he did want someone to be nearby just in case something attacked and tyki had a lot of useful skills. ]

I just meant -- isn't gonna be tight? Do you mind sleeping that close to another person?

[ the tent wasn't that small but still. ]

[Despite their conversation, Tyki is already opening his cloth wrapped bag which turns out to be bedding. A thick blanket and pillows spill out in an unfashionable way. How exactly all of them seemed to fit together is a wonder given the volume and size doesn't quite match the bag. He's taking up the left corner as he rolls out a thick blanket and starts to pad it with plush pillows.]

Mister Rhys, you'll find that I often enjoy company no matter the situation unless you can properly read when I want peace and quiet. I would never allow a situation to become uncomfortable for me. I enjoy the luxury.

[ why could you be so intimidating even when you were being nice, tyki?! HOW DID YOU DO THAT? ]

So, you're staying?

[ rhys hopes you don't want cuddles, tyki. ]

[It comes with the territory. Skill~ Look, he's already set up inside of the tent. Where are you at, Rhys?]

Without a doubt. You staying? [In your own tent.] I'll even fetch the firewood and kindling. I plan on setting up something outside along with a smoker later for jerky. Maybe an extra blanket outside for stargazing. I'll make breakfast each morning.

[ was this really happening? was tyki offering up all this? rhys couldn't help but be suspicious but also hopeful that maybe this wouldn't be so bad. he'd bunked with vaughn before so this could work. ]

You can cook?

[ was there anything he couldn't do? rhys was starting to feel a little useless here. ]

Nothing fancy. Only eggs and potatoes for breakfast. I can do fish over a fire as well.

[Don't expect five star cuisine, Rhys. He can't make much more than that but it'll be hearty and somewhat tasty.]

[ more than rhys can make, though. much more. ]

Huh.

[ okay this was sounding a little better. ]

I can toast bread.

That's something.

[Sorry, Tyki has no idea what toaster is. He toasts everything on a stove.]

I can do the fishing, if you can do the hunting. [He's teasing of course. He can't peg Rhys even being able to kill one of the jackalopes.]

Sure, I can -- I can hunt.

[ no. ]

No problem.

[His eyes narrow just a fraction as his grin widens a little more. He's attempting to read body language.]

You know, it's alright to tell the truth. You already have my interest enough that I'm not going to think less of you.

[ he could hunt, technically. would he be good at it? probably not. ]

I haven't hunted in awhile though. Might be rusty.

Right, right. I believe you. Try to hunt something good then.

[He's going to make a note to hunt something as well just in case Rhys fails.]

A while, hmm?

Well, I was the one being hunted for the last little while.

[ not even a lie! vasquez and august were like dogs with bones. ]

I had to make sure I didn't die.

[prazerbutterfly]

You should feel right at home then with the way things are here. We're technically being hunted.

[He really should do something about easing his discomfort instead of increasing it. He's not sure how much Rhys was paying attention to the radio either during all that mess less than a week ago.]

Hmm, you have a survival ability then, at least.

Now, survive. That's one thing I'm good at.

[ there was some full truth right there. he'd survived hyperion and vasquez's machinations and he'd survived psychos and other horrible things. he'd survived august and fiona and sasha and he'd survived robots. ]

I can stay alive and I can stay alive really well.

[prazerbutterfly]

Good, good. You'll need that soon enough. We'll be going after another artifact likely soon with all this new information we have.

[He doesn't like to assume but there was one location being thrown around a lot and he figures they'll have to head that way eventually.]

Maybe we can play a little cat and mouse later to see how survival able you are. [Is he kidding? Maybe. Maybe not.]
