Where: Shabondamashii Bathhouse
What: With the Silver Mirror claimed and the animals of Eden relocated, it's time for the carnival to kick back and enjoy an interdimensional bathhouse and the surrounding festival city. Meanwhile, the scattered shards of the Mirror have an unexpected effect.
Warnings: Dark/Light halves acting weird.

THE BIG CLEANSE↴

As the carnival recovers, the Ringmaster has brought it to the gates of a famous interdimensional bathhouse to rest. She won't be joining you for most of it, though she will be checking in frequently and available by radio. She's fixed a large portion of the Silver Mirror after it shattered, but it seems like pieces are missing. She doesn't want to rest until the missing shards are dealt with, and the Mirror itself is locked away safely.

► YOUR OTHER HALF: The shards missing from the Silver Mirror didn't just disappear - after breaking apart in Eden, fragments of the object embedded themselves in the spirits of those not already touched by its powers, and those that had been the most fae-touched. That means, your characters. The effect of this, explained in more detail on the plotting post, is that some characters will be splitting into two versions of themselves: the Light, and the Dark. This doesn't mean good and evil, of course, it's far more complicated than that.

Splits can start happening at any time after arriving in Shabon, and initially characters won't know how to rejoin with their twins. Later on, it will become apparent that they need to reconnect via the shard of the Mirror they share... of course, in order to rejoin, you have to have both halves, and not all twins will be as eager to go back to the way things were before. This plot point is optional.

► SPA DAY: When you're not engaging in metaphysical division, you are free to enjoy the many luxuries that Shabon offers. Things will mostly have an east-Asian bend, like what you would see in the movie Spirited Away, but as long as it doesn't affect the setting much, you can honestly have whatever spa-type services available that you want. Food is served both in restaurants and 'buffet' style. There are also well paid sex workers here, if that is your thing, but make sure to tip well.

► FESTIVAL TOWN: The city surrounding Shabondamashii is largely meant to catch the business of interdimensional tourists. There are frequent parades and other events held, and the architecture is very closely packed. It's easy to get lost if you leave the bathhouse, but it's definitely worth it if you like party. You can pick out a few outfits for yourself and some fun nick nacks, but nothing that would normally require mod approval.

Rita's changed her outfit to that of a simple tank top and shorts, though it's unclear if it's also in the spirit of relaxation, or if it's because her regular clothes had to get repaired and altered after their last adventure. The joints in her legs have changed position, giving them a catlike form, while a thin layer of light-colored fur covers them, with two dark stripes across her thighs. Incredibly, she was able to find a pair of sandals that actually fit her feet.

She wrinkles her nose at the list. "What's all that weird crap they have listed? Can't believe they call them 'treatments' -- it just looks like nonsense to me."

"Auhh....the idea of a bonsai is that it is small, to begin with..." He doesn't seem to like being put on the spot by his daemon- it doesn't help that she's very clearly nuzzling the other, and he finds himself blushing as a result.

"Hmmm. We're trying to find one that looks nice, at this point. It'll be something of a project regardless- we've never raised a bonsai after all, but we're not sure how the others will react to one either!"

What if Jiichou tries to eat it.

That would be a tragedy.

Marishi is being really affectionate, and Yuya notices. He doesn't dive down to cuddle back in the middle of the tent, even though that's briefly tempting--but he does leave one hand easily accessible for her to brush against.

"I think they all look nice." Which is absolutely not helpful, but Yuya's not terribly critical or picky about the arts. And size is relative in he multiverse.

"Maybe a cheaper one?"

Hands are good- hands can get behind her ears. Thank-youuuuuu...

While Marishi is otherwise distracted, Gongenzaka furrows his brows. "Hmmmnn...I, the man Gongenzaka, would rather not allow the cost to be the only factor... ...however..." He grimaces. "...I cannot recognize these species of tree either..."

Multiverse and all that.

All right, all right, he's scratching behind the ears.

Yuya looks back to Gon raising an eyebrow as he points out the shopkeeper. "You know, that's something you can ask them about, right?"

If Gon has an excuse not to do something he wants to do, Yuya's going to counter it. Especially now of all times. "Come on, come look at the ones over here!"

"It's hardly nonsense," said with a little shake of his head. "I'm certain that whoever gives the-" and he quickly looks to the list to pick out a random treatment "-the snail facial can tell us the purpose of the treatment when we get there."

Even if Strange himself isn't entirely sure what snails had to do with spa days. Maybe they ate them later?

"If you don't pick something, then I'll pick it myself." Strange looks down at the list of treatments and randomly points at one. "There. If you don't want to pick something, we'll do that."

The thing that Strange has chosen is 'dog yoga.' Fun fact, he has no idea what yoga is, he just circled it because it had dogs in it.

What the hell is a sentou? Strange manages to hide his confusion but makes a mental note to ask about that later. Thankfully, Yuya's question distracts him from going off topic as Strange starts to answer.

"I have to know the reflection exists and know it's location. Once I do, I cast a spell to use the reflection as a doorway and a second spell to link the reflection to a different one. I've used the spells so often that I've developed shortcuts, but for you, we'll probably start off with the full incantation."

Once Yuya has the basics, then it'll be time to show off all the cheats and tricks.

Strange nods when Reira asks if he told everyone what she told him. It took him a bit, considering that Lambert and the rest were literally in the middle of a thieving raid, but he got them the message in time.

He honestly isn't expecting her to thank him. Despite the fact that Strange is a big showoffy magician with enough ego and arrogance for days, there's still a part of him that yearns for recognition. Turns out that recognition and thanks from an actual child is good enough to count. Strange blinks back surprise before giving Reira a small smile of his own.

"You're welcome. I'm-" He catches himself before he can say 'I'm a nightrunner.' Because that's not true anymore, isn't it. Instead, Strange quickly swaps his train of thought. "Well, I wasn't going to let all of you stay in those prisms, would I. Whatever magic Lilith was using aside, the experience must have been terribly dull."

Time for a little bit of joking to try and hide the fact that Reira thanking him means a lot to Strange.

"I took a nap." Dull indeed. She says it quite plainly, before idly adding more- "...I tried wind practice first, but there wasn't any wind to feel in there at all...so sleeping was easier." As it is.

She absolutely has to finish the thank-you Properly, and thus takes a small/deep breath to ask. "...Are hugs okay?" Samyaza, back in Eden, was extremely injured and needed a very gentle hug. She's not sure how injured or not Strange himself is though- or if he's even fine with hugs to begin with.

Though she's at least sure he wouldn't react the way Foster did, it's best to check.

So he's have to know where both mirrors are. There's probably plenty in the town below, but if Strange hasn't already perused it enough to know their locations well enough for the spell.

"Was there a mirror in your room?" Maybe they can just go between each other's rooms. That's safe.

Peridot was sort of hesitant about this whole spa business at first, but now that she's been here a day or two, she's really starting to enjoy just getting to experience all sorts of new things.

That said, seeing Jasper out in the city and actually partaking in culture is straight up the first truly shocking thing that she has seen this entire trip. She had expected that in a recreation based world such as this one, the quartz would be off skulking in a corner and frowning about what a waste of time this all is. And yet, here she is! Out and about, trying on different varieties of pants for her horse butt. So unusual is this sight that Peridot decides that, after a few minutes of gawking surreptitiously from the next stall over, she's going to tail the other gem for a while, so astounded is she at this peculiar development.

Her efforts don't last very long though, because Jasper goes to a food stall next, and Peridot is just SO ALARMED by the sight of Jasper apparently giving actual consideration to eating something that she blows her own cover. "Are you buying food!?" She says loudly, emerging from behind a display rack of different artisanal cooking oils to confront the centaur.

"Careful!"

Doll rushes up from behind and grabs him by both of his shoulders, sounding perhaps a little more panicked than the situation really calls for. Maybe it was the fact that she'd just entered the bath area and seen someone slipping down and hadn't really had time to process if it was an emergency or not. She just acted.

...Side note: this probably is a men's bath.

Yuya jolts when his shoulders are grabbed, only barely registering her words as he comes back to awareness and looks around quickly in alarm. "Huh? What? Wh--oh." He blinks when he realizes it's hand on his shoulder, but he's not in danger, to he tilts his head back to see who is... uh.

"... Doll?"

She sighs, brow furrowed. "Y'shouldn' be in 'ere by yourself when you're tired, 's dangerous."

It is Doll. ~~Maybe a little "darker", but it's her for all intents and purposes.~~ She straightens up and turns back to fetch her towel where she dropped it on her mad sprint to make sure Yuya didn't drown, and comes back to the bath. No polite angling, no attempts to cover herself, she is stark naked and okay with anybody seeing her with nothing on apparently.

"I'll stay here until ya get out. Wouldn' want ya drownin'," she mumbles as she slides into a corner of the bath.

You know who's also all about trying weird new shit? Peridot is. She's never had a spa day before but, now that the opportunity has been presented to her, she is 100% ready to make the most of it.

The good news is that, since Strange bothered to apologize after their argument back in Eden, she's more or less back on speaking terms with him... even if she's still having trouble getting some of the stuff he said about her and Lapis out of her head. That said, a day of goofing off and trying weird treatments sounds pretty ideal for getting over that! She eagerly takes the list and squints at it thoughtfully, eyes flicking back and forth as she goes over each item.

"What the heck is a snake massage?" she asks, squinting curiously at the words as if that will somehow give her more insight to their meaning.

Wow, yeah, that's Doll. Yuya's initially confused, shocked, because he doesn't remember the sign saying this was a mixed gender bath. And then she walks away, and Yuya's gaze follows her for a second.

And then he flushes, letting out a strangled shriek before turning his face away. Well, he's definitely away now. "W-what are you doing in here?! This isn't the girl's bath!"

Wow, such shrieking in a nice quiet place. Doll frowns and balls herself up a little under the water. She looks embarrassed-- odd time to be embarrassed after what just happened.

"Yeah, that bath's for ladies. But if I'm botherin' ya I c'n go..." The idea of bathing with pretty, perfect ladies made her throat close up, and she figured once she was under the water, none of the men would know the difference or even look twice at her. Seemed like an okay plan until now.

Yuya keeps his face politely turned away from his own embarrassment even when he hears her enter the water. Even if he doesn't see her face, though, he can hear her morose tone and then he's conflicted by the urge to assure her so she isn't upset.

"I-I mean, you're a girl, aren't you? So why would you bathe on the men's side?"

Rita just gives him a look.

"I hate dogs," she says plainly, like he must have chosen it just to spite her. She doesn't actually know if 'dog yoga' involves dogs, because what the hell is yoga anyway, but she's already decided it must be awful.

"I mean, if we're talkin' jus' the bits, then yeah." She continues to curl into herself. This had been a bad idea, she should go somewhere else, maybe back out into the festival where nobody would see her.

"But 'm not a lady-lady. Ladies are curvy, 'n got perfect skin, 'n soft long hair, aren't all wirey 'n skinny like me. They'd just stare at me. Wonder what I was doin' there. Thought it'd be better here, nobody'd look twice once I was in. 'Least none 'a th'men in the circus looked twice at me."

Strange is assuming that Peridot knows what snakes are. But does she know what a massage is? Hell if he knows. So, he's just going to assume that she doesn't and explain anyway. Who knows, maybe rocks don't get massages. There wouldn't be much muscle to work with anyway.

"A massage is when someone pushes down into your muscles and rubs them in a certain way to help relieve tension and stress. How snakes enter into it, I've no idea." But that doesn't change the fact that it sounds interesting and Strange wants to try it.

"Shall we get one?"

Reira, as a number in the Carnival have figured out, is a distinctly Japanese name. It's a bit odd given that she's not Japanese seeming herself, but then again not a lot of Japanese are tomato haired or catholic. So it's never really been a question- at least not an enormous one.

But even those from Reira's own home likely fail to predict the reaction the little one has upon entering Shabon to check into a room. Dressed in more normal clothes again, the girl's eyes are filled with wonder first- but sheer unfamiliarity second.

Which is exactly why just about anyone who seems certain about what they're looking at is going to be finding the girl's oversized wing hand tugging at their sleeve worst case, and gently prodding their side best case, as she asks:

"...Hey. What're those?"

[The Bears are IN]

After a fair amount of being tugged around and pulled around and dragged around, Reira has a Yukata. It is a strange feeling- the fabric is light, and everything feels loose despite it being bound up against her, and she waves her arms about rather experimentally as she gets used to it.

Beside her, her daemon- a Brown Bear for now- is trying something similar. It's a bit....Interesting. The large scarlet eagle at Reira's other side (fortunately Not wearing things) seems to agree, tilting its head with a small chirp sound.

Bears in yukata and all that. "......Soft," is the ultimate conclusion that the beast comes to, giving a sage nod as it wobbles about on their hind legs. "....Should keep them..."

"Umnnn...." Reira is thinking about it, it seems. "...I guess they're nice..."

[WILDCARD - While it's not 100% decided what day the Shichi-Go-San party will be (it's basically an Unbirthday at this point), for the sake of keeping track of things, these prompts will be within the first 3 days of the event! Reira will be openly wandering about, often with her daemon and/or her Eagle. And she'll be quite confused about Many Things, so the sky's the limit with prompts really.]

"Then pick something else instead," Strange responds, like it's the most obvious thing ever. "There's all sorts of things on this list here and I'm willing to try almost any of them. Choose what you think is the most interesting."

The list contains at least thirty or so various spa treatments. Only one of them is scratched out to the point where it's unreadable. Strange has made a few notes or checkmarks in the margins near some items, most notably 'sauna' and 'massage', but there's still plenty of options, ranging from the sensible (facials!) to the slightly ridiculous (vampire facials!).

Yuya wants to point out that no, the 'bits' are the entire points of the separated baths. It's the only qualification.

"I don't think that's what would happen." Joker told him once about how he worked at the circus before the carnival, so he assumes that's the one she's talking about. Granted, it could probably apply to the carnival too, but the carnival isn't that physically close with each other where it would even come up, he's pretty sure. "You don't have to be a lady to be a girl."
