Where: Shabondamashii Bathhouse
What: With the Silver Mirror claimed and the animals of Eden relocated, it's time for the carnival to kick back and enjoy an interdimensional bathhouse and the surrounding festival city. Meanwhile, the scattered shards of the Mirror have an unexpected effect.
Warnings: Dark/Light halves acting weird.

THE BIG CLEANSE↴

As the carnival recovers, the Ringmaster has brought it to the gates of a famous interdimensional bathhouse to rest. She won't be joining you for most of it, though she will be checking in frequently and available by radio. She's fixed a large portion of the Silver Mirror after it shattered, but it seems like pieces are missing. She doesn't want to rest until the missing shards are dealt with, and the Mirror itself is locked away safely.

► YOUR OTHER HALF: The shards missing from the Silver Mirror didn't just disappear - after breaking apart in Eden, fragments of the object embedded themselves in the spirits of those not already touched by its powers, and those that had been the most fae-touched. That means, your characters. The effect of this, explained in more detail on the plotting post, is that some characters will be splitting into two versions of themselves: the Light, and the Dark. This doesn't mean good and evil, of course, it's far more complicated than that.

Splits can start happening at any time after arriving in Shabon, and initially characters won't know how to rejoin with their twins. Later on, it will become apparent that they need to reconnect via the shard of the Mirror they share... of course, in order to rejoin, you have to have both halves, and not all twins will be as eager to go back to the way things were before. This plot point is optional.

► SPA DAY: When you're not engaging in metaphysical division, you are free to enjoy the many luxuries that Shabon offers. Things will mostly have an east-Asian bend, like what you would see in the movie Spirited Away, but as long as it doesn't affect the setting much, you can honestly have whatever spa-type services available that you want. Food is served both in restaurants and 'buffet' style. There are also well paid sex workers here, if that is your thing, but make sure to tip well.

► FESTIVAL TOWN: The city surrounding Shabondamashii is largely meant to catch the business of interdimensional tourists. There are frequent parades and other events held, and the architecture is very closely packed. It's easy to get lost if you leave the bathhouse, but it's definitely worth it if you like party. You can pick out a few outfits for yourself and some fun nick nacks, but nothing that would normally require mod approval.

For all that Reira has stubbornly decided that Jasper is a Jerk for all of one conversation they had, she's somehow managed to remain somewhat cordial when it comes to other interactions with the gem. There is a strange edge of cheek to it all; she cared enough to get her a T-Shirt and paint her a card while on the moon, certainly, but she still stubbornly keeps from saying a single word.

And what with not working directly beside Jasper for a while during the time there was a menagerie, let alone now, certain perceptions have...stuck.

More importantly, others simply didn't have the chance to develop at all. Does Jasper ever eat??? Does Jasper actually wear clothes?? She still doesn't know if that t-shirt got thrown out or what, but she certainly hopes so. For all she can tell however, Jasper must Abso-Freaking-Lutely do those things!

So the first thing Reira does when she spots the gem with lovely painted hooves is jog up, try to get her attention, and then hold up a notepad once she successfully manages somehow.

'I like the colours on your hooves!!! They're nice.'

She means it, they're Very Nice. She hopes it becomes a trend, it's a nice trend.

Jasper leans down to grab the notepad, and lifts it up to her face, squinting.

After a second she looks past it at Reira, looking absolutely perplexed.

Then her eyes narrow.

"Aren't you the one who can -- read minds, or whatever it is?" Huh... the idea somehow bothers her less than it did before? It just doesn't seem like a concern to have someone know how she's feeling.

Reira blinks for a moment. Read minds?? She rapidly shakes her head, and motions to get the notepad back- once she gets it, she'll write another message.

I just feel people's feelings.

A pause, and she adds 'Feelings aren't thoughts they're just feelings, like when you're sort of happy, or sad but only a little sad. I don't know what people think when they feel those.', before holding it back up.

Jasper hands it back, frowning slightly, and folds her arms as she waits for a response.

As she reaches down to take it back (she has to lean a fair way down, because having most of a horse instead of legs has made her even taller than she was before), she says, "So, what, do you not talk now?"

What's this!! You've forgotten!?

(It completely slips Reira's mind, that Jasper wasn't being this literal in the first place)

'You told me not to talk to you, ever!' is the response written in large letters- Reira's pout only adds to the mood behind it. 'So I'm not talking to you, just writing!'

Jasper's brow creases as she reads.

"... That isn't what I meant." She is getting way less mad about this than she would if she was a complete Jasper, but she still sounds kind of annoyed. "I just didn't want you around me. Why would you think I just meant speaking?"

She leans down.

"Is this that thing where the smaller humans are stupider because they haven't finished growing yet?"

The girl shakes her head 'no'. And frowns.

'I'm not dumb.' That's rude, don't be rude. 'We were supposed to work together, and you still told me to do that. I just decided to do this instead.'

Because it doesn't make sense to avoid the person you're supposed to be working with. Anyway.

'I don't even know why you want that anyway. No one else said not to talk.' And by extension, no one else said to stay away either. So it's a bit weird to her that Jasper, being the big strong one next to half of the people she typically sees, wants her Not Around.

For someone who knows damn well that Jasper didn't mean notes though, she's pretty dedicated to this!

"Well, I did," says Jasper, and she doesn't give the notepad back this time. "And this is dumb. If you're going to hang around anyway then you can just talk normally."

Hey-

"...." She considers that for a moment, before crossing her arms. "...You have to give it back too then," she determines, before continuing. "...It still doesn't make sense," she adds, scuffing the ground with a sandal. "I don't even know what most feelings are, they're just there. But as soon as I said that's how I knew what animals wanted, you wanted me gone. I don't even know why."

Jasper frowns down at her, and then holds the notebook out for her to take.

"Well, I didn't like the idea of you knowing what I wanted without me telling you," she says. "What about that doesn't make sense?"

".......All of that." She'll explain why though.

"...I don't know what you want. I just know if you're feeling something. I only know what animals want, because animals don't have 'big' feelings, like everyone else does." If 'big feelings' makes zero sense, that's probably because it shouldn't. It's literally a term Reira made up.

"Ummm...Animals normally just feel...hungry, or scared, or happy... ...so it's easy to learn why they feel those things, because there's only a few things to feel. ...But most people feel lots of things, things I don't even have words for, for lots of reasons! ...So I don't know why people feel what they do at all."

This all came out a very confusing mess, she's pretty sure, so she'll repeat the point. "...I don't know what things you want. I just knew you didn't like what I said, back then. ...I never knew why, or anything like that."

Jasper folds her arms, considering this. "Well, I think normally I wouldn't like that either," she muses. "But right now I don't care, so do what you want."

Huh.

Well that's sort of weird. She tilts her head a bit. "...I don't know what I want," she finally says after a moment.

"...'m not dumb, but that doesn't mean I know most things. I know how...duel monsters, and soldiers work, I guess," she decides. "...But everything here is 'games', or bath things." The child pauses. "...I guess talking to you with words again is nice though. ...You're really big, and really strong, and that stuff seemed 'cool', but that was the only thing I knew before."

...

"Ummm... I guess that and you were good at doing your work things. That's why I got you the shirt- so that people didn't bug you at work." Her eyes move back to Jasper's hooves. "...I didn't know you did things like this though. ....It really does look nice... ...Um."

Something strikes her at that point- "....Do you...normally not like colourful things either..?"

Jasper blinks.

"No," she says, sounding fairly sure about it, but... that's not really true? She scratches the side of her nose. "Hmm. Well, I guess I did, but..." It's kind of hard to work out, honestly!

"..." Hmm. She stares a bit, frowning. "...that seems confusing..." she mutters, frowning. "...If you like something, it's easier to just do it, I think. It's your stuff, and your things to do." That's how she figures it at least.

Except as quickly as she says that, she realizes something wrong with that- namely, the part where she doesn't know what she wants half the time either. With a fairly loud gasp, she voices her theory. "Umn-! Unless, it's like me..! ...Where you just didn't know those things were there before, so you have to find all the things you like before you can like them!"

That's probably not it kiddo.

Jasper squints down at her.

"What... are you talking about?"

The question everyone is asking, Jasper.

"I mean I didn't know how most things work," Reira answers, assuming that Jasper is asking about the last bit she was talking about. "...Like, um...how you're supposed to have 'fun', or 'what different foods there are', or 'why people have clothes that look different'... ...I'm starting to learn them," she adds, "...But I didn't know anything like that- so if someone asked if I liked something, then I didn't know."
