THE BIG CLEANSE↴![]() As the carnival recovers, the Ringmaster has brought it to the gates of a famous interdimensional bathhouse to rest. She won't be joining you for most of it, though she will be checking in frequently and available by radio. She's fixed a large portion of the Silver Mirror after it shattered, but it seems like pieces are missing. She doesn't want to rest until the missing shards are dealt with, and the Mirror itself is locked away safely. ► YOUR OTHER HALF: The shards missing from the Silver Mirror didn't just disappear - after breaking apart in Eden, fragments of the object embedded themselves in the spirits of those not already touched by its powers, and those that had been the most fae-touched. That means, your characters. The effect of this, explained in more detail on the plotting post, is that some characters will be splitting into two versions of themselves: the Light, and the Dark. This doesn't mean good and evil, of course, it's far more complicated than that. Splits can start happening at any time after arriving in Shabon, and initially characters won't know how to rejoin with their twins. Later on, it will become apparent that they need to reconnect via the shard of the Mirror they share... of course, in order to rejoin, you have to have both halves, and not all twins will be as eager to go back to the way things were before. This plot point is optional. ► SPA DAY: When you're not engaging in metaphysical division, you are free to enjoy the many luxuries that Shabon offers. Things will mostly have an east-Asian bend, like what you would see in the movie Spirited Away, but as long as it doesn't affect the setting much, you can honestly have whatever spa-type services available that you want. Food is served both in restaurants and 'buffet' style. There are also well paid sex workers here, if that is your thing, but make sure to tip well. ► FESTIVAL TOWN: The city surrounding Shabondamashii is largely meant to catch the business of interdimensional tourists. There are frequent parades and other events held, and the architecture is very closely packed. It's easy to get lost if you leave the bathhouse, but it's definitely worth it if you like party. You can pick out a few outfits for yourself and some fun nick nacks, but nothing that would normally require mod approval. |

Grinning, he waggles one hand up- the one made out of strange curved wood that's far too flexible than it should be. The opalized parts of it, veining in and out, shine a little in the light of the carnival. "I was escaping a fire myself! And then I stumbled here and ended up becomin' the Stage Manager~. But you'll know me more as Joker, the manager for our fledglin' Diplomacy department."

Because it's a little freaky that a bunch of performers would dive into lethal scrapes and hand over bits of their souls for long-distance healing magic, instead of just cutting their losses and running off. Contract or no. And there's probably a bunch of not-good things that magic can do with a piece of a soul... She's still deciding whether to take the Ringmaster up on that offer.
"Joker, huh?" She snorts a laugh, glancing that odd hand over - and the similar-looking horns. "That's kind of funny. I know a Jester. Is it a nickname for you, or just... what you got named?"
no subject
Although if they're talking about names... He waves one hand down a little lower. "If ya meet the most adorable girl in the world, with brown hair and bangs over one side of her face, that's Doll, and I named her, too! Because she's my precious little sister~." Playfully, he winks.
...But it is true.

She makes a face, because that got a little closer to her own baggage than she meant to, and she hastily adds, "so like, is your sister around here, I might run into her?"
no subject
No, what's a lot more fun is boasting about his family. "And you'll definitely run inta her! Y'know, before we had our little change-" He spreads his hands out, gesturing to the carnival as a whole. "-she was our number one tightrope walker! Ya wouldn't have seen a better show anywhere, I can promise ya that." Leaning in a little closer, he grins. "And ya definitely wouldn't have seen anyone else so cute!"
(returning from hiatus!)
"Awww, that's sweet. Kind of sickeningly," she shrugs, trying to figure out if he's just bragging on her behalf or outright wingmanning. "but it's nice. She must be bummed out, going from carnival stuff to fighting..."
Re: (returning from hiatus!)
It helps him feel a little less homesick, anyway, and he'll take his own health over anyone else's.
"And it's definitely not our first choice, I'll admit." Certainly he's not happy about it, so he can imagine Doll. He blows out a huff of air, making some of his own bangs flutter upwards. "But since I'm stayin' here, she's insisted on it, too. Stubbornness seems ta be a common trait in my family!"
no subject
"Well. Stubbornness can help you keep alive when you need it." Beau looks around, as if for an escape from all this sentiment. "And get in the kind of trouble that'll get you killed. Hit or miss, really."
no subject
But he is a kind supervisor. For now, he'll let her run away from his gushing. You know, metaphorically.
The smile eases up a little with the conversational shift, and he nods. "Yeah, and this place is full of stubborn folks, sometimes at the worst moments. Ya can probably tell who a few of 'em are already. At least, dependin' on who you've gotten a chance ta meet so far."
