What: With the Silver Mirror claimed and the animals of Eden relocated, it's time for the carnival to kick back and enjoy an interdimensional bathhouse and the surrounding festival city. Meanwhile, the scattered shards of the Mirror have an unexpected effect.
Warnings: Dark/Light halves acting weird.

THE BIG CLEANSE↴ As the carnival recovers, the Ringmaster has brought it to the gates of a famous interdimensional bathhouse to rest. She won't be joining you for most of it, though she will be checking in frequently and available by radio. She's fixed a large portion of the Silver Mirror after it shattered, but it seems like pieces are missing. She doesn't want to rest until the missing shards are dealt with, and the Mirror itself is locked away safely. ► YOUR OTHER HALF: The shards missing from the Silver Mirror didn't just disappear - after breaking apart in Eden, fragments of the object embedded themselves in the spirits of those not already touched by its powers, and those that had been the most fae-touched. That means, your characters. The effect of this, explained in more detail on the plotting post, is that some characters will be splitting into two versions of themselves: the Light, and the Dark. This doesn't mean good and evil, of course, it's far more complicated than that. Splits can start happening at any time after arriving in Shabon, and initially characters won't know how to rejoin with their twins. Later on, it will become apparent that they need to reconnect via the shard of the Mirror they share... of course, in order to rejoin, you have to have both halves, and not all twins will be as eager to go back to the way things were before. This plot point is optional. ► SPA DAY: When you're not engaging in metaphysical division, you are free to enjoy the many luxuries that Shabon offers. Things will mostly have an east-Asian bend, like what you would see in the movie Spirited Away, but as long as it doesn't affect the setting much, you can honestly have whatever spa-type services available that you want. Food is served both in restaurants and 'buffet' style. There are also well paid sex workers here, if that is your thing, but make sure to tip well. ► FESTIVAL TOWN: The city surrounding Shabondamashii is largely meant to catch the business of interdimensional tourists. There are frequent parades and other events held, and the architecture is very closely packed. It's easy to get lost if you leave the bathhouse, but it's definitely worth it if you like party. You can pick out a few outfits for yourself and some fun nick nacks, but nothing that would normally require mod approval.

"Alright then," he answers, with absolutely no intention to stop doing anything. "I wanted ta know somethin', as a matter of fact, but it seems like yer... busy, I suppose?"

[stompadour]

Her frown deepens a little. Joker is a supervisor...

"What do you want to know?"

[pipers_son]

Always so delightful to talk to, this one. Well, that's fine. he can rearrange his words. He is supposed to be in diplomacy now.

"Ya seem like ya had changed a little," he tries again. "I wondered if somethin' had happened with the carnival, since yer mood isn't usually so light."

[stompadour]

Jasper raises her eyebrows, looking a little thrown. She has a pretty good inkling of what precipitated her feeling so good, but she was really hoping to just... not have to deal with it, because this is so much better than the way she usually feels.

But she's not going to lie to a supervisor, especially when, she's realising, this could easily turn out to have to do with something serious that could affect the whole Carnival...

"Hmh. Well," she says gruffly, "earlier today something happened at the bathhouse... I'm not sure what it was exactly, but there were... two of me. I don't know where the other one came from, but she seemed -- I don't know, wrong, weak... I don't know where she is now, either, because the bathhouse people separated us after we fought. But since then I've felt... Hmm." She pauses for a moment, trying to decide how to put this, and eventually settles on: "Good."

"....Well then." That sure is a lot to take in. Joker needs a moment just to process all that. Brow crinkled together in thought, he presses a hand to his hip and starts going through the information piece by piece.

People being split apart isn't entirely unknown, to any of them. It's what the Ringleader, or that one world, did to them when they all had daemons accompanying them. Still, he's pretty sure that had been a unique situation. After all, fragments of their souls being split apart from their bodies was the normal state of things in that world. Here, well... He's pretty sure he hasn't noticed any doubles wandering around. Surely if that was normal, then they'd have been warned about it, or had it happen the second they arrived, right...?

Hm. Joker shakes his head. He really doesn't like this. At least he can count on Jasper for one thing... "Can ya recall what ya were doin' in the time leadin' up ta splittin' apart?"

[stompadour]

She shakes her head, brow furrowing. "Nothing unusual. I was just... thinking."

[pipers_son]

Somehow, he has a feeling that it had to be more than her just thinking. "I suppose ya would have noticed if ya were anywhere strange, or had run inta someone suspicious..." She seems like the type who quick about that.

[stompadour]

Another head-shake; her ears tuck back a little as she thinks about it.

"No," she says. "Nothing like that. I was in the bathhouse, that's all."

[pipers_son]

"Well... Bugger." They're at absolutely zero ideas on how to avoid something this troublesome, and he heaves out a sigh. "Well, I guess all we can do is keep an eye out, yeah? So let one of us supervisors know if ya see anyone else split in two, or actin' strange, I suppose."

[stompadour]

"Hmph," says Jasper. "Alright. You don't want me to apprehend the other one of me, or anything like that?"

[pipers_son]

"Hmm, well..." Joker curls a hand near his chin. "If she was a threat ta the carnival, or ta our standin' here-" In other words, if she was a violent jackass, or set to explode, or anything like that. "-then I would have expected that ya would already be goin' after her. Am I wrong on that front?"

[stompadour]

"Well... yes," Jasper admits, frowning. "I don't think she's dangerous. But she's definitely... wrong."

[pipers_son]

"Well, it's yer double," he points out, lips quirking in a faint smile. "I think it'd be strange if any of us didn't find that strange, except maybe for Julien, once." And even then, well. "Anyway, we'll still have ta find her, of course, but I don't know what it might mean for the two of ya ta be so close. I mean, for all I know, there's a deeper reason ya split."

You know, besides general dickery.

"So, I'll talk ta others, and we'll keep an eye out for her, and anyone else that's strange. Are ya plannin' on just stayin' around here?"

[stompadour]

"I've been patrolling the area," she says. "Obviously there's something unexpected going on here, so someone ought to be keeping an eye out for trouble."

[pipers_son]

"Just as expected~." Jasper really is a reliable sort in this area. That's a good thing to have, at a time like this. "Then, I'll take off- and I'll be sure ta have my radio on me. Ya have yers, too, I expect?"

[stompadour]

She responds with a curt, satisfied nod. Even with the bulk of her willingness to respect non-gems flushed out into her Dark half, the approval of Carnival supervisors is an important thing for her to have -- it's just strategic for her Light half, rather than emotional.

"I do. I managed to keep that out of her hands, at least."

[pipers_son]

"Good ta know." Although that means they won't be able to get in contact with this other Jasper, either... Joker thinks on that for a moment. Well, if she had run away, then maybe she wouldn't answer a radio, either. It's hard to tell with his current information, which means the only thing to do is bother the Jasper before him a little more. "Before I leave, did she say anythin' noteworthy before ya separated? So I have a better idea of what she might be up ta."

[stompadour]

"Hmh..." Jasper frowns, trying to remember specifics. "She just said she wanted to take the opportunity to relax," she says, wrinkling her nose (or, at least, the nose-adjacent region of her face) in disgust.

[pipers_son]

So one Jasper is pissed because the other Jasper wants to actually take a vacation. Amazing. "I see," Joker says simply. He'll keep his thoughts to himself in front of the tall muscular woman who can kick his ass. "At least that means we'll have a decent idea of where she is. So, I'll keep an eye out. Keep up the good work."

[stompadour]

Another curt nod.

"Alright," she says. "Radio me if you need anything."
