What: With the Silver Mirror claimed and the animals of Eden relocated, it's time for the carnival to kick back and enjoy an interdimensional bathhouse and the surrounding festival city. Meanwhile, the scattered shards of the Mirror have an unexpected effect.
Warnings: Dark/Light halves acting weird.

THE BIG CLEANSE↴ As the carnival recovers, the Ringmaster has brought it to the gates of a famous interdimensional bathhouse to rest. She won't be joining you for most of it, though she will be checking in frequently and available by radio. She's fixed a large portion of the Silver Mirror after it shattered, but it seems like pieces are missing. She doesn't want to rest until the missing shards are dealt with, and the Mirror itself is locked away safely. ► YOUR OTHER HALF: The shards missing from the Silver Mirror didn't just disappear - after breaking apart in Eden, fragments of the object embedded themselves in the spirits of those not already touched by its powers, and those that had been the most fae-touched. That means, your characters. The effect of this, explained in more detail on the plotting post, is that some characters will be splitting into two versions of themselves: the Light, and the Dark. This doesn't mean good and evil, of course, it's far more complicated than that. Splits can start happening at any time after arriving in Shabon, and initially characters won't know how to rejoin with their twins. Later on, it will become apparent that they need to reconnect via the shard of the Mirror they share... of course, in order to rejoin, you have to have both halves, and not all twins will be as eager to go back to the way things were before. This plot point is optional. ► SPA DAY: When you're not engaging in metaphysical division, you are free to enjoy the many luxuries that Shabon offers. Things will mostly have an east-Asian bend, like what you would see in the movie Spirited Away, but as long as it doesn't affect the setting much, you can honestly have whatever spa-type services available that you want. Food is served both in restaurants and 'buffet' style. There are also well paid sex workers here, if that is your thing, but make sure to tip well. ► FESTIVAL TOWN: The city surrounding Shabondamashii is largely meant to catch the business of interdimensional tourists. There are frequent parades and other events held, and the architecture is very closely packed. It's easy to get lost if you leave the bathhouse, but it's definitely worth it if you like party. You can pick out a few outfits for yourself and some fun nick nacks, but nothing that would normally require mod approval.

"Why?" she growls. "Aren't you less powerful this way?! You're not... Offput by your own behavior!?"

[stompadour]

"The other one is," says Jasper sullenly. "That's why I don't want to go back. I never got to do any of this before."

[periphrasing]

Well that's... a hell of an admission. Peridot sags, staring at Jasper, an inscrutable expression on her face.

"Joining back up into one person doesn't mean you have to stop doing all these things, you know!" she groans, rubbing her eyes with thumb and forefinger. "It just means you need to give your real self more slack when it comes to trying things out! Which, is what I KEEP TELLING YOU, for the record!"

[stompadour]

Jasper looks a little offended. "I'm not the one you should be telling that to!" She huffs. "Not that she'd listen, anyway. If we join back together I'll just go back to not enjoying anything except fighting."

[periphrasing]

"Not necessarily!" Peridot argues, though her words lack the conviction of someone who actually has any evidence to back up the assertion.

[stompadour]

"What's that supposed to mean?" Jasper paws the ground with a glossy, painted hoof. "Why would anything be different? She's more determined than ever not to have anything to do with me!"

[periphrasing]

Peridot just looks exasperated. "I don't know, maybe the experience of being split will help you come to terms with these conflicting aspects of your psyche and you'll be able to more easily compromise with yourself!" She's not your therapist, Jasper!

[stompadour]

Jasper rolls her eyes. "Just admit you don't know me better than I do and stop trying to tell me I need to join together again."

[periphrasing]

It's tempting to argue, and for a second it looks like she might? Jasper clearly doesn't know herself very well, considering that when she was still a whole person, she swore up and down that she had no desire to try any of the new things that this Jasper has been trying.

Suddenly, Peridot realizes: This is not her problem! "You know what? Fine. Have it your way, sort it out yourself!" she gestures irritably. "I like that you're exploring new things. Do whatever makes you happy!"

[stompadour]

"Good!" says Jasper with an indignant swish of her tail. "I will!" She starts to turn away somewhat dramatically, but ruins it by stopping halfway through and turning back to Peridot.

"Uh. I've been meaning to ask, though -- what do you recommend?"

[periphrasing]

"What... Do I recommend?" she repeats, crinkling her nose. "What kind of recommendations do you mean?"

[stompadour]

"... You know," says Jasper a little awkwardly. "For... leisure activities."

[periphrasing]

Peridot cocks her head, considering. Normally she'd recommend Camp Pining Hearts, but she doesn't really want to entrust the DVD box set that she and Lapis share to Jasper of all people. In fact, she's pretty sure Lapis would kill her if she tried? Metaphorically speaking.

"Try catching a show, or reading a book," she says finally. "Humans craft fascinating works of fiction."

[stompadour]

"Huh." Jasper frowns thoughtfully. "I didn't think of that. Are there any... especially good ones...?"

[periphrasing]

"I'm not really sure what the have around here," Peridot admits. She shrugs. "Maybe some stage plays? I don't know, just try out a whole bunch of different things. And if you still have an interest when we go back to the carnival... I may be able to help you out more."

But she's not committing to anything.
