DAYS OF SUMMER↴![]() You made it! And things are back to normal... more or less. Upon waking, you will be greeted with a clear blue sky and gentle breeze – the carnival has found itself situated between a pair of mountain peaks, with great fields of flowers extending in the distance. In the other direction, you’ll see mountain-top cities and tall waterfalls accenting vast swaths of forest. Some of you will already know this place. It’s the Summerlands. You game here once to rest in safety nearly a year ago, and now you’ve come to rest once again. ► WAKING UP: Shortly after the carnival arrives, the Ringmaster will send out a somewhat cryptic radio message - but her immediate location won't be clear. Whatever items you had on your person at the time the Severing was broken will still be on your person, including whatever clothing. All of the animals and pets of the carnival will have returned to the grounds as well, though they are currently free from their designated living spaces. Things in the carnival will appeared to have naturally aged a month, as if the carnival was been sitting here empty and waiting while everyone was in Portland. The lawn needs mowing. ► SUMMER CITY: After the Summer Fae become aware of everyone's presence, they will welcome you into their city. There are stairs that lead up the sides of the mountains, but thankfully there are also magical means of getting up there as well. The Summer Fae will be willing to help workers with the injured as needed, offering herbal remedies and healing magic to those that want it. You'll also be invited to join them for dinner, but they will not be particularly offended if they are turned down, for now. ► SUMMER PEOPLE: The fae here will mostly enjoy the company of any carnival members that offer it - it doesn't seem that much happens here besides day after day of peaceful meditation and relaxation. It is not uncommon to see Summer Fae spent days doing exactly the same thing, whether that be enjoying the weather, listening to music, or dancing - the day and night periods may be similar to earth, but when you don't need rest it can all blur together just the same. Some of the fae work on feats of agriculture or craftsmanship, and while there is no particularly need to work in this place, they take pride in the fact that they do. ► NEW ARRIVALS: Though the Ringmaster will not be offering much guidance for the first week or so, eventually the carnival will begin running for a few small performance sessions, off and on, as a thank you to their fae hosts. The carnival will also be open to receiving new arrivals during that period, and so there will likely be some newbies to train and get orientated as well. |
BIG TOP
This is probably dangerous, but maybe she'll get down safely?
smol one no
His head tilts at small one up above. He is rather fond of children and is surprised to see one working on something so complex.
reira does as reira desires-
"Mmnpg-" The grunt echoes as she pulls back from the reach, hands closed around something quite small. It, too however, makes a sound to give an idea of what it is-
"Peep!" It's a bird! (...an undead one.)
"Got you..." Yes and now they're still up here, which is not a good idea-
Suffice to say, with Tykki at the stairs, she can see him easily. "Umm-! ...Hello?" She didn't think anyone was still here..! "...can I get down before you go..?" She asks, assuming he's coming up.
What do you mean he's dressed too nice for thatno subject
"I have no intention of coming up at the moment so you are free to come down, kid. You shouldn't be up there anyways. You could fall." He smirks and opens his arms to beckon her down whatever she used to get up there. "Either way, be careful."
no subject
There is a pause. "Is it bad if I make a leash? I saw some people use them for dogs..."
no subject
"Stuck? He looked fine to me," he says with some amusement. "Leashes are mostly for pets that run off or get lost often. Also for pets that pose a risk. Do you think you need one?"
no subject
"...I dint think he's dangerous. I just promised to look after him."
no subject
Definitely a strange kid but he doesn't mind. "Then you probably don't need a leash unless you think he'll run from fright."
no subject
But she bets the bird would be More Silly, so... "...He definitely needs a leash then, if he'd run because we saw something scary... ...a really long one, though! Otherwise he can't fly." Erm.
A point was missed somewhere, perhaps.
no subject
"A pet also needs a good name unless he has one already." He's talking as if he'd talk to a child. Kids needed reassurances, kindness and while not all needed to be taken care of they needed a helping hand from time to time. "I'll help you find a leash if I can I don't know if they have any bird kinds here but it is worth looking at wherever they keep the animals."
no subject
As it is, Reira stares at the bird in silence. "...Most of the animals have special pens without leashes..." She notes, having seen them as part of her job. "I didn't see leashes when they showed me where everything was... ...but..." While she is perhaps stuck with asking wardrobe for such a thing, Reira considers the idea of a name. How did she get hers? And why? She certainly wasn't born with it. It was simply a name Himika gave, mere months earlier, if that. So...
"...how do you know a name is the right one, though..?"
no subject
"I haven't been here that long to take notice of the animals. Maybe I simply saw something else." Her question brings up a good bit of thought in Tyki's mind. He had never really named anything in his life. He had no kids, no pets and no responsibility other than what he was assigned. He did throw out a lot of nicknames but those were a lot of on the spur of the moment.
"Well, a name doesn't have to be right. It could be a name they like or something they heard from a show. You could be named for what they remind you of at the time. What does he look like to you right now?"
no subject
"...it looks like a sparrow." She is a bit too literal for this.
"...I don't think sparrow is a good name though..."
Fortunately, she is just barely aware enough of the issue there. "...I've never heard anyone use different names in the shows though. ...don't they just try to do tricks and things?"
People who have not had access to most media: this one.
no subject
"Then he's not a sparrow if that isn't a good name." He smirks as he leans in to get a better look of the bird. If it was dark he might suggest shadow or if it was brown the word brownie could work. Then again, this kid seemed at a loss in general, "I've seen tigers with exotic names. There are shows that do tricks and some that handle animals. A carnival has a lot of things to offer."
no subject
"Hrmnnn... ....So I should ask...Ginko. He's in charge if animals, so he knows, then!"
A tiny. Tiny step in the right direction.
no subject
Never take candy from strangers even if it is harmless. He would never hurt a kid unless they were the enemy even with his soft spot.
"That's a good idea! He might be more help than I am. I do apologize for that, Miss....? My name is Tyki."
no subject
...Well she doesn't take it right away. "Umn- Akaba Reira," she introduces, bowing her head as taught not long ago in her realm. She bites her lip a bit, looking to the lollipop. "Is..."
It looks so good- "...Can I have that?"
no subject
She has some manners. He likes that and he'll adjust his feet and spread them a little in his squat so he's more on her eye level. It's his way of seeming non-threatening. "A pleasure to meet you, little lady."
He holds it out to her closer, "Of course. This is yours."
no subject
"Mnh...Thank-you..!"
no subject
"You're most welcome, Miss Akaba. Tell me, do you work here at this carnival or are you a kid of someone who does?"
no subject
The candy is unwrapped, but before she starts eating it, she answers the question. It's rude (and difficult) to speak with one's mouth full after all. "Mnh-I work here now. I made a deal, so I have to look after the animals here... ...and sometimes steal things, I guess."
She 'guesses'. The idea of theft doesn't seem to be causing much alarm here.
no subject
"Then we'll be seeing each other a lot. I will be a Magician... and sometimes trick other people in order to get things, I suppose." He may as well play along if she doesn't seem all too bothered by it.
Dear god this little girl was going to get spoiled by Tyki in the future.
no subject
Well, she'd certainly bolt as soon as the malice came up...but one hopes that situation doesn't come up. A magician and... ...Hmm. She blinks, trying to find the word for a moment.
"...So... ...An actor?"
Nailed it.
no subject
Poor thing. He'd chase her down and try to explain things if only to assure her everything was alright. Or at least he'd try.
"Something like that. It's kind of like an actor. There is acting!"
no subject
Ah yes. The wonderful Double Agent.
(At least she'll be more inclined to believe Tyki over Allen-)
