DAYS OF SUMMER↴![]() You made it! And things are back to normal... more or less. Upon waking, you will be greeted with a clear blue sky and gentle breeze – the carnival has found itself situated between a pair of mountain peaks, with great fields of flowers extending in the distance. In the other direction, you’ll see mountain-top cities and tall waterfalls accenting vast swaths of forest. Some of you will already know this place. It’s the Summerlands. You game here once to rest in safety nearly a year ago, and now you’ve come to rest once again. ► WAKING UP: Shortly after the carnival arrives, the Ringmaster will send out a somewhat cryptic radio message - but her immediate location won't be clear. Whatever items you had on your person at the time the Severing was broken will still be on your person, including whatever clothing. All of the animals and pets of the carnival will have returned to the grounds as well, though they are currently free from their designated living spaces. Things in the carnival will appeared to have naturally aged a month, as if the carnival was been sitting here empty and waiting while everyone was in Portland. The lawn needs mowing. ► SUMMER CITY: After the Summer Fae become aware of everyone's presence, they will welcome you into their city. There are stairs that lead up the sides of the mountains, but thankfully there are also magical means of getting up there as well. The Summer Fae will be willing to help workers with the injured as needed, offering herbal remedies and healing magic to those that want it. You'll also be invited to join them for dinner, but they will not be particularly offended if they are turned down, for now. ► SUMMER PEOPLE: The fae here will mostly enjoy the company of any carnival members that offer it - it doesn't seem that much happens here besides day after day of peaceful meditation and relaxation. It is not uncommon to see Summer Fae spent days doing exactly the same thing, whether that be enjoying the weather, listening to music, or dancing - the day and night periods may be similar to earth, but when you don't need rest it can all blur together just the same. Some of the fae work on feats of agriculture or craftsmanship, and while there is no particularly need to work in this place, they take pride in the fact that they do. ► NEW ARRIVALS: Though the Ringmaster will not be offering much guidance for the first week or so, eventually the carnival will begin running for a few small performance sessions, off and on, as a thank you to their fae hosts. The carnival will also be open to receiving new arrivals during that period, and so there will likely be some newbies to train and get orientated as well. |

...What is it that you need to tell me, Yuuya..?
no subject
I'm not... entirely who you think I am. [A deep breath.] You said you joined the carnival after losing to the Battle Beast, right? So you haven't heard why there's four dimensions yet, or... three people who look like me.

[He still doesn't look back at Gongenzaka.]
no subject
[Wait what.] We... ...aren't..?
no subject
He reaches up on reflex for his goggles but stops, hesitating. He hadn't hid behind them for months, now, to the point that the movement feels rusty and foreign. He tries to tell himself he's okay, he can do this.
But he pulls the goggles over his eyes anyway. He doesn't want to see Gongenzaka's reaction. He doesn't want to tell him at all, so maybe--maybe just pretend he's telling nobody but himself.
He starts slowly.] There was a duelist named Zarc. He could hear the monster's from the cards. [Absently, he grabs the pendulum around his neck. His deck is put away, but what he really wants is to root through it for Odd-Eyes right now.] And with them he won. He won a lot. But the more he won, the more violent things got... because that's what people liked to see.
no subject
But that would interrupt.
So instead he listens.]
no subject
He won the championship. But winning wasn't... enough by then. [Was that it? Why did winning stop mattering?] Just getting stronger--it's because they were angry? And he didn't just wanted to win. He wanted them to be afraid. He hurt people on purpose. After he won he...
Everyone was his enemy now. His and his dragon's.
no subject
...And he can't tell why.]
no subject
It was all part of him. When they were together, he could feel that.
When Gon calls his name he pauses, tilting his head slightly to look at him. The goggles still obscure his eyes, but he sucks in a breath and makes a face before continuing.]
Nobody was strong enough to challenge him and he wasn't satisfied anymore. So he took his dragons and... and he attacked everyone. [Yuya chokes on his words. The memory of the emotion was all too real--they were going to pay. They were going to burn.
His voice gets quieter.] Zarc fused with our dragons and destroyed everything.
no subject
[No. This is not the time to question. He takes Yuuya's shoulder, and with his eyes glowing as they do, it is likely that even the goggles cannot hide Yuuya from him.] ....Yuuya. ...No matter how this story ends, just as you have faith in me, I, the man Gongenzaka, have faith in you.
no subject
[That's when her jerks up suddenly, trying to sit up with urgency.] I'm Zarc! So's Yugo, and Yuto, and Yuri! We destroyed the original dimension!
[It's Gongenzaka's (misplaced?) faith pulls Yuya back to the present, and his brain skips through half the story to the part that he's most afraid of telling anyone. Not that it happened, but it happened because of him.] I don't remember anything left before we were stopped!
no subject
If you were one at one point...If that is truly the case, you are not them now..! Whatever happened... ...whatever came of it...
[He takes a deep breath.] Yuuya. You, as you are now, are moving ahead from that!
[He's. It'll take a minute before it sinks in and he realizes that they're talking about planetary annihilation though.]
no subject
He grabs one of Gon's wrist with both of his hands, but he's aware without trying he has no strength to push him off--he's not even sure if that's what he wants, or if instead he wants to be pulled closer. Be told he won't be like that again.]
I absorbed the rest of them and we tried to do it again. [But he knows that wasn't true.]
no subject
You came through this, did you not? Is that not reason enough to work in order to make up for it, rather than dwelling upon the past? I...
[...He supposes he is being a bit hypocritical. Ah.] ...I, the man Gongenzaka...have brought my thoughts back to what I have done for far too long. ...but doing so only created more pain. And the more I held back, the more I, the man Gongenzaka, could not see what was ahead.
...Yuuya... ...if this is how you feel as well...then we must both move onward..!
no subject
Why was he here? He was here because everyone else fought so hard for him. Because Reira endangered herself to protect him, to protect everyone from Zarc again. Because they didn't give up on him even knowing the truth. Because there was still something in him that they thought was worth saving. That Yuzu, that Reira still wanted to save.
Yuya attempts to blubber out a retort, but it's muffled with sobs he struggles to speak around.] How--how do I--?
no subject
Not into a spine cracking hug, but rather, a more consoling embrace, the doglike teen resting his head against the other's as he himself begins to break.]
...with one step at a time, [He manages hoarsely, entire being shaking.] ...while remembering, that no matter what Yuuya...you are not alone..!
no subject
There's a distant part of his soul that remembers a time it wasn't like that, but that was so long ago, when he wore a different name. He was only and also more than Zarc. He was Yuya, too, and what was being Yuya but a second chance? He hadn't understood what that meant until he remembered. He hadn't realized how significant that was until Portland.]
I'm--I'm never going to end up like that again! My duels are going to bring smiles and I'm going to make people happy! That's what I want! [What he always wanted...?]
no subject
no subject
But maybe he could, if they believed he could.
Yuya's response is muffled as he face falls into Gon's shoulder, buried in fur. He hasn't quite stopped crying, but it really drains him of what little energy he has.
The weight of his actions as Zarc was still heavy, but... he wouldn't waste this chance for forgiveness. He wouldn't cause that much suffering again. He'd make amends. He'd do better.]
no subject
...And there were still the four girls to consider. Yuzu, and those who looked like Yuzu... ...but he leaves that from mind, for now.
It is not the time to push, and when it seems crying has ceased, he tries to help the other back onto the bed.
There might be a more canine nudge/nuzzle as he does this. HABITS, OKAY.]no subject
Thanks, Gongenzaka. [There's moree to explain, but... yeah, maybe that can wait. Maybe he can try and put the pieces together more coherently for the rest.] For believing in me.
no subject
Thank you, Yuuya. You are truly the greatest friend a man could ever ask for.
no subject
Yeah, you too.
