What: The carnival arrives at the Heartstone Manor. Do your best to play along, and try not to get too far ahead of the schedule with threading if you can avoid it, in case something that would affect your character happens early on.

BEAUTIES AND THE BEAST↴ When the carnival arrives at the Manor, everyone will be taken into the Throne Room to greet the Prince for the first time. He will be lounging on his throne, and will take a look at the guests that the Ringmaster has brought before eventually dismissing everyone so that he can talk to her alone. After that, they will be given a brief tour of the Manor by some of the servants, and then brought to their rooms to start picking out clothes for tomorrow. On the first night they will be permitted to wear regular clothes, but starting the next morning the dress code will be enforced. There will be a number of servants helping guests with clothing, and making alterations to suit the non-humanoid features they may have. The tailors work with fabric by hand, but their stitching is impossibly quick and accurate, with changes being made to complex clothing at unbelievable speed. Some guests may note while working with them that one of the seamstresses has wooden mannequin-esque hands instead of human ones, and another has two sets of arms. The arms are one of the most obviously inhuman traits that they'll see while first touring the building. Come the morning of Day 171, the daily routine will begin. ► FIVE MEALS A DAY: Between breakfast, lunch, tea, supper, and evening drinks, the meals you are required to attend are frequent and long. Each meal (except drinks and tea) will have multiple rounds, and use all of the fancy cutlery. It will be difficult to keep up for those that are untrained. The food will vary greatly, but will generally to be palatable to those that are into whatever kind of food it might be. Some of them are odd delicacies that are very much an acquired taste, however. People who cannot eat will be given a pass once the Ringmaster explains it, but will be looked down on for it. ► DAILY ACTIVITIES: There are scheduled activities for every morning and afternoon, and everyone is required to attend. Descriptions of each activity are provided on the "Event Descriptions" tab of the spreadsheet linked up above. There is only one hour of free time scheduled per day, after supper, and beyond that the servants will almost constantly have you on the go. The Prince and Ringmaster will not be present for most of the activities, but they will be there for every meal. If you character refuses to follow the schedule or makes a huge mess out of proceedings, make sure to report it here. ► AFTER CURFEW: At 11PM, everyone is expected to return to their quarters and spend the rest of the night there. Wandering after curfew is unacceptable by the Prince's rules, and if you do it there will be the chance of discover. Based on your character's stealth abilities, there will be dice rolling to determine if they are discovered or not, and by whom. Make sure you report any after curfew activity to the mod post here. This can also take place as an investigation if they are actually looking for something instead of just farting around. ► ROOM AND BOARD: The servants will remain upbeat for most of the time the guests are here, unless something is done to provoke them. They will be present at every activity, and there will be a variety of different individuals. One frequently spotted character will be the butler, a man with dark hair and small, sharp horns. He seems to be the main organizer of things. ► ODDITIES: Even beyond the obvious, there is something off about the Manor. Doors, windows, and other household objects will sometimes move seemingly without cause, and other times there will be banging sounds in the walls, or mysterious voices heard at a distance. It feels like you're being haunted. If you have a moment to wander the corridors, then you'll sometimes see open doors abruptly slam shut the moment you lay eyes on them, and wall sconces turn off or on. It's weird, man. ► THE HUNT: The Hunt activity will have its own event post, and some sign ups for those that will participate meaningfully. There will be some dice rolling to determine who hunts the most impressive game, and rewards handed out accordingly. Before that post goes up, however, you can do some investigations for the start of the event, if your character is interested in looking into the specifics of the contest and overall context. He'll bring it up later. For now, 9S nods; Susan's hit the nail on the head. "Yeah. I joined a bit before the Carnival's last stop. I'm with the Nightrunners and repair crew."
Except he hasn't really done much repair work, on account of completely avoiding Peridot. She can talk all she wants, but it doesn't change the fact she's an alien.
"What about you? What do you work as?"

"I don't think we're supposed to be talking to people here, though. It's probably not 'proper', but that's annoying."

"Yeah, no kidding! I don't understand the point of half the rules we're supposed to follow."
As he talks, 9S walks towards the unclaimed bed and floats his sword forward so he can take the ill-ftting scabbard off it the copper yellow blade, the same ring of light keeping the sword aloft forming around his right wrist.
"I mean, if someone's there, doesn't it make sense to talk to them? Otherwise, what's the point?"

He watches curiously at the whole floating sword thing, but for now he pushes his questions aside - talking about stupid rules is far more important apparently.
"I think that rich people and fancy people just make up rules 'cause they have nothing better to do with their time. And then if you don't follow them they say you aren't fancy either."

Said floating sword is now free from the confines of the too large scabbard and being (seemingly telekinetically) leaned up against the wall, tip dipping into the carpet of their room. Scabbard gets plopped next to the sword, too.
"Sounds boring. If that's what rich and fancy people do, who wants to be fancy?" 9S huffs, taking a seat on his bed. "This would be a whole lot more fun if this Prince guy learnt to relax like the rest of us."

Too bad he can't just tell the Prince that, or show him how much better things would be the other way. He was even warned by the Ringmaster herself to not talk to the Prince, and although usually he wouldn't listen to her, even he knows this is important enough that he should do what she says.
"Maybe after he sees how boring we all are when we follow the rules, he'll let us not follow them." It's unlikely, but you never know.

"I sure hope so!" Though he doubts it. "Otherwise it's gonna be a real annoying time..."
The only one he's any semblance of formal with is the Commander, and that's because. Well. She's his commander. Her strict and formal manner pretty much forbids others to take a casual tone with her. But he only has to deal with her in short bursts, not all the time.
"So, uh, Zap... was it? He zaps people with electricity, right? Can you try and keep him away from me?" Realising that could be construed as insulting, he quickly follows that up with, "Not that I don't want him around! But I'm mechanical, sooo... electricity and me don't get on."

"I can try to tell him. He's pretty smart, but he gets excited sometimes. It's 'cause he's still a baby I guess."

He holds up a hand, reassuring. "Yeah, I get it. I'm not gonna get mad, unless something gets damaged."
Then there'll be problems.

"He even zaps himself, sometimes. It's kind of funny."

Still... 9S sits down on his bed, which sinks a lot more than it would for a normal person. All that metal isn't light!
"Aw, that sounds like it was a lot of fun." He wishes he could hold Zap. But he better not risk it. "I wish I could've been there. There's not a lot of wildlife back home, and what's left can be real aggressive."

Susan sits down as well, petting Zap, the Pichu making a little 'pi' before settling back down to sleep. He wishes Fluff was here, actually, her fur was so long it was better for petting when he wanted to pet someone, but she's with Lauren right now. He'll just have to wait until tomorrow, he guesses.

9S shakes his head. "No, not monsters."
He's not even sure what the difference is. But it's probably not what Susan's thinking, he guesses.
"Just animals like moose, or boars. They're great when they let you ride them, but if you make them mad... even YoRHa like me could get really hurt. But other than those... there isn't a whole lot of terrestrial animal life left."

"But... What happened to all the other animals? Did they get hunted too much?"

"Uhhh not really. The ecology got really messed up when the Earth stopped rotating. So one side of the planet is bathed in constant sunlight, which caused most plant and animal life on the surface to die out."
Ecology isn't really his area of expertise, but 9S still knows a fair amount about it. Being a Scanner sent down to Earth, he's bound to pick up things here and there.
"Oh, but the marine life's fine. There's still plenty of fish in the sea."

The previously silent box shaped robot speaks in a robotic, yet distinctly female sounding voice.

It projects a small holographic image for Susan -- even helpfully flipping the image so it appears in the correct orientation -- of a city in disrepair, huge trees growing over buildings, nearly to the point of consumption. Huge trunks twist around the dilapidated structures, and a herd of moose graze in the open unkempt field.

There's something about it though, of nature overtaking the city like that, that intrigues him, and he doesn't know what it is. It's like... Nature trying to take things back from people.

9S grins, unable to resist the opportunity to show off. Through his connection with his pod, he quickly searches through his memory units -- memories, unfortunately, aren't sorted in a particularly logical order -- for some more nice shots of the cirty ruins. Maybe he should index his memory; that would make it a lot faster to search through...
He puts up a close up of a broken highway, taken over by the surrounding trees' trunks, which happens to also capture a woman in the shot, replacing the previous one.
Eventually, he'll also show a high up shot of the ruins, taken when he was scouting solo.
"If you want, I can show you other places on Earth. These city ruins just happen to have the most plant-life, probably because there's a steady water source and plenty of soil for the vegetation to regrow from."

"So they're less... Nature-y?" That's totally a word now. "'Cause, the nature part is the best part. Plants and trees and stuff are really cool... I bet it would be really easy to climb these trees to get up on top of the old buildings too, that'd be fun."

"Well, all natural formations are 'nature'. So there's plenty of environments that are 'nature', but don't have as much biological life because of the harsh conditions."
9S sorts through his memory units again. Yeah, he's definitely indexing this thing later. After a pause, Pod pulls up another picture, this time of a vast, sandy desert.
"Liiike, the desert. That's still 'natural', but there's not much in the way of plants. It's too hot, I think." And the sand is the worst. It'd always get in his shoes and in crevasses in his body he didn't know he had! "There's a nice oasis out there, though. Great for fishing."

"I guess it is all nature, that makes sense... But, I lived in the forest so, that's the kind of nature I like best. Even if that does look pretty cool."
He laughs after a second. "Or, maybe not cool. Since it's so hot."

He'd seen one off in the distance when he was flying in, but hadn't had the chance to set foot into it. With a wave of his hand, Pod 153 stops projecting the holographic images.
"What's that like? I've never been in one."
