PILLAR OF CREATION↴![]() Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly. ► VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation. ► ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better. ► ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week. ► PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds. |

Miko | OTA
Oh hell yes. Going from a snowy resort-moon to a big city with a beach might be quite a jump, but it’s one Miko is absolutely prepared (and happy) to deal with.
In fact, she is embracing this situation to its fullest extent - which is to say, she wastes no time in using her allowance to obtain a swimsuit and get to the beach. And once she’s there, she wastes no time in sprinting directly into the ocean, shouting in delight, with her arms raised over her head.
The ocean wastes no time in slam-dunking her underwater with a wave taller than she is.
She’s probably fine.
B - Around The Carnival
After weeks of just hanging out in a snowy resort, Miko had almost forgotten how freakin’ gross her job can be, even when she’s not cleaning toilets. Why do people feel the need to throw up everywhere? How do they knock stuff over so much? Who keeps stuffing hot dogs into crevices of the game stands?
Of course, in between the gross stuff, ending up with nothing to do during her shift is just… boring. So she opts for running around the carnival grounds, calling out to whatever random coworkers she may come across.
“Hey! You need anything… I dunno, moved around? My break’s not for like an hour, and I’m dying of garbage over here.”

He makes it to the edge of the water just in time to see Miko run in and wipe out almost instantly. It's pretty hilarious, and he can't help but laugh.
At least, at first, but he is watching the water. He hopes she's okay after that.

"Get out here, dude! You're missing out on the waves!"
Miko you're not even surfing. You're just getting wrecked by the ocean.
no subject
He grins, but comes out with her, sloshing and kicking water up everywhere as he goes. The waves right at the shore are barely coming up above his knees, lame.
"Need a boogie board or something."
no subject
"I bet there's a place to rent those here! We could go look around."
no subject
He turns and lets his eyes scan the shoreline, trying to see if there's anything nearby. Finally, he points to a shack a ways off in the distance, that looks like it indeed sells and rents various beach equipment.
"Over there!"
He holds out his hand to grab her and yank her through the water because he feels like if he waits on here they'll be here all day.
no subject
She makes a startled squeaking noise when he starts pulling her, but it turns into a laugh pretty quickly. "--Hey, c'mon, man, I can move on my own!"

In no rush to follow, he idly makes his way to the edge of the water, polaroid camera in hand. He isn't dressed for the beach and the deadly pool noodle isn't on his person: his current concession to the environment is rolling his pants up and toeing his shoes off well beyond the waterline. A cigarette dangles from his mouth, lazily trailing smoke, because if there's one thing a more modern world is good for, it's indulging bad habits. Unlike Portland's Lambert, he doesn't have to worry about his lungs.
"How's the water?" Lambert calls out, as soon as he sees Miko's head bob back up ... whenever that is.
no subject
"It's great! Kinda cold but--"
Aaaand there's another wave. Bye Miko.
no subject
"Water looks pretty strong," he comments, as soon as she pops back up again. "Can you actually swim?"
She doesn't look afraid of the surf, so probably, but it's not Lambert if he's not heckling people.
no subject
"I can!" She sounds a little indignant, but only for a moment. "It's just super strong. But I can swim just fine!"
no subject
"Too bad you can't turn into a dog anymore. Maybe it'd be easier to stay afloat."
no subject
A
"Wait, do we actually have like... assigned shifts?"
She feels like she might have missed a memo somewhere.
no subject
Which probably says something about Miko.
no subject
"Who's the supervisor for... what do you do exactly...?"
She realized at that point that she had no idea who this is.
"Um, hi, I'm Connie, by the way..."
no subject
"I'm a... roustabout, I think is what it's called? I just kinda do whatever. And I'm Miko! Nice to meetcha."
no subject
"My supervisor is Sans. He doesn't plan shifts, I don't think," which was fine with Connie anyway. She was absolutely jazzed that she wasn't being hurried off from one pre-planned activity to another like she was back home! Having every day planned for exhausting.
...now she was just dealing with feeling listless and now knowing what to do with her time.
"...he's a skeleton." Just in case Miko hadn't met him.
no subject
The revelation of Connie's supervisor, though, brings up another question. "Hang on, so you're in Security?"
no subject
Cinder sprites are mopping the padded area around the bull with sharp-smelling cleansers, so, at least Miko's spared that.
no subject
"Ssssure. Okay." She makes a face, but goes to help get a hold of the barrel. "Just tell me when, I guess."
no subject
"Thanks," she says, flashing a smile; her mouth is concealed by the handkerchief, but it shows a moment near her eyes. Scout takes a couple seconds to adjust her stance, compensating for small foot area by setting her legs wide, and coils her powerful tail near the base of the barrel as she grabs closer to the rim. "I want to pour it out on that mesh so any small parts don't just get swept away. Ready? One, two, three..."
The smell isn't going to get any better.
no subject
Oh god she regrets everything right now. Miko makes a possibly-exaggerated gagging noise and her ears pin back against her head. "--Oh, that is rank!"
no subject
The mechanical bull parts caught in the grate still aren't clean, but have gelatinous mystery substance caught in their lower elements. "I think the grease we put in these so they'll run more smoothly just breaks down when it's time to clean it up."
no subject
That explains a lot, though she does make another face at the description. "Cool. Great! Disintegrating grease-goo, just what we need."
