Warnings: Singing

THE LAST REQUIEM

CY-Ren's planning of a charity concert has been well received - news of bomb threats and harassment from fans have painted her as a victim in the media spotlight, and her generous attempt to make amends is getting plenty of attention. She's been busy spinning things for as much focus as possible, and the threat of potential danger has the news focusing in on the proceedings. The date is set for Day 27 in carnival time. You won't want to miss it!

► BUILD UP: In the last couple days before the concert, CY-Ren will be reaching out to all of her Harbingers, regardless of where they might be at the time - yes, this means that even if you ran off, she'll come to find you! (Unless you're in the carnival like Taako, then you're fucked.) She'll tell you that her plans are coming to head, and that if you help her with one last task then the planet will be on its way to destruction. There are multiple ways you can aid her: you can help amp up her performance as evil backup singers/musicians, or you can set yourself up around the perimeter at specified locations, using your sparks as a beacon to her magic. She's certain that she's perfected her musical formula, this time - when the concert gets underway, all those present with the capacity to be a Harbinger will awaken, and the end of days will begin.

► THE CONCERT: By the time the concert arrives, the Star Guardians will have the idea that there's something unnatural about the way the new Harbingers were made - this isn't how it usually happens, and that sets them apart from someone like CY-Ren. Maybe that means that they can be pulled away with less drastic measures as well, given that the Void didn't have the full right to their souls in the first place. Anyone coming to help (and those who aren't Star Guardians will be encouraged to come as well, given that if they are making attempts at friendship, super powers aren't required) will gather in the area early, determined to stomp this one out before it can get too far.

► HARBINGERS: This is when they will be encountered by Harbingers guarding the perimeter, as well as a small army of void creatures defending CY-Ren's last performance. Star Guardians will become aware through the power of Creation that the Harbingers on the perimeter must be neutralized in order to disrupt the concert - CY-Ren is feeding on their negative energies, and it will make it too dangerous to attack her directly. Confrontations with any Harbingers can be worked out on an individual basis via plotting - just make up a location around the concert and have your Harbinger providing a beacon of their own design.

As the concert ramps up, however, the excess of Void energy will cause the newly made Harbingers to destabilize - mentally or magically, their powers will be harder to control, and their negative emotions will be running wild. However, with that instability, there is also room for a breakthrough - for someone to blast the darkness from their Sparks with friendship and light. Now is the time to reach out.

► STAR GUARDIANS: If a Harbinger is successfully turned away from the darkness, they will briefly regain control of their Sparks, and be able to manifest as a Star Guardian for the first time. This will allow the Guardians to outnumber CY-Ren's forces. Their look and powers will still be based around the same Spark, but purified by Creation and aimed towards positive things. Time to win.

► DANCE OFF: Given that the Spark of Music and the Spark of Dance are colliding, it is perhaps not a surprise that this all manifests as a big ass musical number. As CY-Ren and Noa have a music battle, everyone present (even if you aren't a Star Guardian) will find themselves magically inspired to join in. You can dance, sing, or anything in between - the more people who support Noa's side, the stronger she will be. There will be a megathread for this part of the conflict, and at this point any unturned Harbingers will awaken and be able to turn their Sparks towards the light. As CY-Ren begins to lose power, what the players do with her will be up to you.

"Agreed," Strange responds, with a little nod. Though wait. Strange still barely knows what the concept of an idol is, but he knows it involves singing and dancing in front of crowds. CY-Ren sings and dances in front of crowds.

"You do this stuff, don't you? What do performers do before they go on stage?"

Strange knows there's dressing rooms: he ran into one when they all arrived at the first concert. But aside from that, he doesn't really know anything about what a pre-show consists of.

"Usually, we go over the schedule again, and do voice warm-ups. If it's our concert, we just hang out in the dressing room. But sometimes we go and greet our senior idols. Sometimes I take a nap but Sou-chan says it's bad for my voice."

It never stops him from doing it, though.

"Also, the crew does the final equipment checks. You can't do much once people start coming in, though."
kingsroads: (maybe staring makes it work)

Enjoy this moment, Tamaki: Strange is 100% listening to him and paying attention and taking his advice. Tamaki knows this stuff. Strange doesn't. Ergo, he's going to learn this stuff so he'll know and then can be properly egotistical at anyone who doesn't know this stuff.

"So there wouldn't be any way to sneak in and deal with CY-Ren before the concert starts." Which granted, Strange was kind of expecting. Still, it's a bit disheartening for Tamaki to kill the idea like that. "And once people start coming in, we'll have to be careful sneaking in around the back."

Or people can just straight up crash the concert which is what ends up happening but hey, gonna hang on to the subtle plan while it still exists.

He's thoroughly enjoying it - when will he ever get a chance to feel this important again? Probably not for awhile.

"It might be possible, if someone was part of the crew. We had someone get into our dressing room once, and attack our center. He worked for another group."

"Attack" is maybe overstating things a little, but the guy did hit Tamaki's pinkie with a wrench later.

"But Cy-Ren probably has people protecting her... And, it's suspicious to just wander around backstage."
kingsroads: (totally got this situation down pat)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2018-03-30 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, attack? Strange's eyes widen slightly at Tamaki's words. Was being an idol really that dangerous? Did all idols have to worry about attacks from rival groups?!

"Why on earth were you attacked?!"

"He was trying to steal our songs. So he pushed around our center. But he has asthma, so it was really bad."

Really, they're all thankful it wasn't more serious than it was. He could have ended up in the hospital.

"That guy got the jump on me and Sou-chan later. I thought Sou-chan was going to kill him."
kingsroads: (well drat now)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2018-04-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
And once again there's about fifty billion questions here. Strange settles on what he thinks would be the easiest. "Your center of what?"

After that is when he'll ask about stealing songs, who Sou-chan is, and why that person would go back to try and attack Tamaki again.

[personal profile] puddingemote 2018-04-16 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Eh..." He tries to think of the less Japanese way to phrase this. "The lead singer? The main singer in all our songs."

He gestures to either side. "He stands in the center and we stand around him. I guess Cy-Ren would be the center here."
kingsroads: (your sea beacons suck)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2018-04-16 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So if people attack the center of the band and CY-Ren's the center here, then people would suspect someone to attack her. Okay, Strange can work with this, he's slowly learning how idols work.

"Is stealing songs something that normally happens?"
puddingemote: (i belong)

[personal profile] puddingemote 2018-04-17 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Tamaki looks shocked at the suggestion, giving his head a quick shake.

"No. It's real bad." He folds his arms, frowning disapprovingly at someone who isn't here to see. "If the fans had found out it was a stolen song, it would have been a big deal. They might have abandoned the other group."

He huffs. "And you can go to jail for stealing!"

Though, it's more likely that they would have just gotten sued, but Tamaki doesn't know the ins and outs of copyright law.
kingsroads: (me & my stupid hat)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2018-04-17 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thankfully, Strange knew you could go to jail for stealing before this conversation started. Still...Tamaki's opening up a whole new world of information to him, which means they'll have to do more than the original plan of 'sneak in there, cause shit, save the day?'

"Let me see if I understand all this." Time for an idol recap. "There are plenty of crew members backstage as well as the singers and backup dancers. Because people occasionally get attacked and have their songs stolen and also because the concert was ruined earlier, CY-Ren will probably be protected. And because she's the center, she'll be even more protected?"

Look, that assailant attacked Tamaki's center, it's reasonable to assume that since CY-Ren is the center, she'd be the most likely target.

Tamaki listens to all that, looking thoughtful. Then, he nods.

"Yeah. That all sounds about right."

Especially because the concert was ruined earlier. After something like that, they would beef up security, especially since she's pretty popular and has lots of money and resources to do so.

"She probably got a lot of security after last time. And some of our guys got brainwashed, or whatever. So, she's protected."

And this is the part of the plan where his own knowledge is useless. He's an idol, not a covert ops specialist!
kingsroads: (well drat now)

[personal profile] kingsroads 2018-04-18 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
And Strange's knowledge is also useless! He's a magician, not rogue class. He managed to get himself and Lambert in for the first concert but they were discovered like five minutes later. There's no way he'd be able to get multiple people in, especially with CY-Ren expecting them.

"I suppose your best option is to just follow whatever plan Noa's come up with." Because obviously she's come up with a plan, right? It wouldn't make sense if she didn't have one.

"Mm. She has experience."

She's a magical girl, and she's fought Cy-Ren before (even if she lost). She knows more than any of them what to do in this situation.

"She said something about singing and dancing, so that's why I came." He might not know how to fight, but he sure does know how to dance!
