What: The carnival arrives at a new location and has its first performance week with the new cast, as outlined here. This is a general mingling log for convenience purposes, but players are welcome to make as many other logs for this purpose as desired.
Warnings: Could be a lot of things, around these parts.

THE REALM OF DREAMS↴ As the carnival arrives at its first stop since its recruitment phase, and prepares to put its new band of workers to the test. In the meantime, there is a whole new world of dreams and nightmares to be explored, and threats to be faced on carnival turf. As of S1:D11, the carnival will be opening its doors to the creatures within, and the carnival will be open daily from noon to midnight, though the connection to the realm will be constant. This is an all purpose mingle log for the full duration of the stay, so please mark top levels with some estimate of what days they'll be occurring on. Please bring any mod questions to the original plotting post.

[But that’s not what he wanted to talk about. Puffing out a breath, he rubs the back of his neck and glances up at their strange sky.]

Both of ya seem like just a pair of regular folk who’ve gotten swept up in this whole mess, and yer nice enough, far as I can tell. [Besides Steven being part magic, but anyway.] I know this whole bleedin’ place seems scary, and dangerous, and, well, I can’t say it’s not. The Ringmaster usually watches out for folks, so long as yer sensible and listen ta what she says, but…

[With a little sleight of hand, he holds out a slip of paper.]

This is the radio frequency for how ta reach me in particular, and my trailer is the black one on the tip-top of the whole mess. If you or yer son need anythin’, let me know. Stage Manager doesn’t carry some of the weight other supervisin’ does, but I’ll do what I can.

[ For a moment Greg stares at the paper, slightly surprised. Then he smiles--it's something soft, and tired, but genuine. ]

That... really means a lot. Thank you, Joker. [ He takes the slip and looks over the number. ]

Even if nothing ever comes up, the support is really appreciated. Like I said, all this is... a lot to get used to. [ He sighs, touching gently at a tusk. ]

Ha. Ya don't gotta tell me twice!

[He spreads his wings out a twitch, laughing. He knows the struggles... of having to get all his clothing changed up. And also crashing a lot because wings.]

But ya ain't the only one. Everyone here who's been here before ya has had ta deal with the same things. All that's for it is adjustin' best ya can, and, if ya got a problem, talk with Zecora about it.

...Unless somethin' happens where ya can't fit inta yer clothes anyore, then that's wardrobe.

[ He tries out a laugh that he doesn't really feel. He keeps reminding himself that everyone's dealing with the same problems, and he needs to quit being such a sadsack. ] That's the best we can do, right?

[ Greg slips Joker's extension into a pocket. ]

If I can ask... just, let me know if anything's up with Steven? I know he's doing all right now, but. [ He shrugs. ] A dad can't help but worry, y'know?

It’s the only thing we can do. [And that’s just that. However, aware of the morbid turn this is taking, he beams.] But take as long as ya need! I mean, it took me four stops and almost bein’ executed before I adjusted, ha ha!

[WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT’S NOT SOMETHING YOU JUST TELL PEOPLE…]

[Joker’s expression eases up as Greg mentions Steven, and something twists oddly in his gut. Yeah, he figured they were close, but… Somehow, it seems all the stranger to see it actually coming from Greg, that level of genuine care.]

Ha, ya don’t have ta worry. He’s a bright young lad, and everyone seems ta like him so far as I can tell. Gonna be an assistant for some of the shows! He looks excited for it.

[ He can't even muster the energy to get worked up over the word 'executed.' Explanations will only worry him more. Instead Greg just rubs at his face and gives up on that modicum of forced good cheer, with a small wordless noise.

Steven, though. He can gladly focus on Steven. His son is his bright spot in all this. ]

Ahh, he's a performer at heart. [Gets that from Greg.] He's the sort who makes friends with everyone... heck, he thrives in a place like this. [Does NOT get that from Greg.] He'll put his all into it for your shows. Just make sure he doesn't get in over his head or anything. [ With all Steven's used to, Greg's not sure there even is anything that far past his comfort zone, but it can't hurt to say. ]

Don’t worry… If I’m bein’ honest with ya, gettin’ kids like that involved in this whole business leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve kinda been hopin’ one of them would say they’re not up for it all, but, ha, it looks like they’re all either excited for it or not bothered. Ah well~.

[Like it’s less of an issue than it really is for him.]

And, for whatever dangerous acts we got, there’s enough things in place ta keep everyone safe, so that’s somethin’, yeah?

What kid doesn't love to spend time at a carnival... [ Steven really does seem to love it here, regardless of Greg's concerns. In fact, for all Greg's fussing, all of this must feel pretty ordinary to his son. ] I was pretty surprised how young some of the staff runs. But... long as they're getting looked after and kept safe, that's what matters.

[ He rubs at his jaw. ] Ahh, I grumble, but I know you're on the up and up. I wouldn't expect the boss would put up with otherwise, anyway. [ For all else about her, she sure seems dedicated to that aspect. ]

That much ya can count on. So long as ya listen ta her when she tells ya ta be careful, then nothin’ bad should happen. And like I said, if there’s anythin’ yer wonderin’, just come ask me. I like havin’ visitors ta my humble little abode anyway~.
