THE REALM OF DREAMS↴![]() As the carnival arrives at its first stop since its recruitment phase, and prepares to put its new band of workers to the test. In the meantime, there is a whole new world of dreams and nightmares to be explored, and threats to be faced on carnival turf. As of S1:D11, the carnival will be opening its doors to the creatures within, and the carnival will be open daily from noon to midnight, though the connection to the realm will be constant. This is an all purpose mingle log for the full duration of the stay, so please mark top levels with some estimate of what days they'll be occurring on. Please bring any mod questions to the original plotting post. |

If you wish to, I have no problem with it. You can even pick which direction we go.
[ Since it doesn't matter, overall. It's impossible to tell where they'll end up just from looking out through the gates. ]

[Or, rather, easy enough to get along with, and that works for Joker just fine. For all his cheer and energy, Joker actually can get along with quieter sorts after all, and it’s sometimes a boon when you’re in a supervisor position.]
[Humming, he starts to step out of the carnival and into the realm of dreams.]
Well, if that’s the case, straight ahead seems simplest, huh?

[ John Childermass, a gentleman. That earns a wry smile from him as he moves to fall into step alongside Joker. ]
And so it would seem. Let's see if that remains true.

[Because sure enough, it doesn’t take long before the landscape is rippling and shifting, and Joker whistles as what looks like a winding staircase keeps changing position.]
Feel bad for folks who get sick at things movin’ around so much.

[ Simple can be an illusion sometimes, just like, well, not quite like everything around them. That's all real enough, even if it won't be again once they pass by. The staircase has Childermass looking curiously up, trying to catch a glimpse of what it might lead to.
No luck. ]
I'd hope folks like that would have to sense to stay back. [ Though they probably don't. ] What do you think that leads to?
no subject
[Joker's grin is absolutely playfully sly.]
There's really only one way ta find out, I think.
no subject
[ Not that Childermass sounds particularly worried, as usual. ]

[ Because once he knows Joker isn't going to pull a supervisor fit over getting lost, he's going right on ahead to the stairs. Joker got to pick the direction, but that was about all he cared to give up to courtesy for the time being. ]
Just try not to fly on up ahead. There's no telling where one dream begins and the other ends.

[Joker is one of the last people prone to supervisor fits, following Childermass casually on his own two feet instead of taking to the air. That’s for proper adventuring on his own, or escaping, or otherwise being on his own. He still has some level of manners to stay with people he’s invited himself with.]
No worries. I’ve been in this business for a bit now. I know when not ta play about.

It ends in a marble landing, the stonework spreading out a ways before it becomes overtaken by moss and grass. Rising all around them is a completely new landscape, one full of ruins of buildings that could be called very close to Roman architecture. Out amongst the ruins, the moss and grass itself is similarly overtaken by a ridiculous amount of wildflowers, some familiar, some strange and foreign.
Childermass stops at the top of the stairs and he can't quite help but frown at what they've found, almost looking puzzled. ]
Not quite what I had expected.

[As usual, Joker’s lilting voice is relaxed, matching the expression on his face, but there’s a sharpness to his eyes as his gaze flits around the area. Even peaceful places can have some nasty surprises waiting in the wings, and it always helps to keep an eye out.]
What were ya expectin’, then?
no subject
[ And, very likely, not so many flowers, but no matter. He'll step away from the stairs and out onto the grass after taking his own moment to look around. He's not seeing anything dangerous, not just yet. ]
But this looks like someone's dreaming of something very old.
no subject
[Just idle chitchat as he crouches down, keeping his face away from the flowers as he pokes one with his finger. He’s wood, so if anything happens, then he prrrrrobably should be fine.]
I mean, who knows who’s dreamin’ what, right?
no subject
[ That's how ruins work, Joker. Come on.
The flowers, on the other hand, aren't quite working the way flowers should. Typically, a flower isn't going to curl away from being poked, though other than that, it doesn't do much else. Another kind of phantasm, perhaps. ]
no subject
[Alright, now he’s just being a shit, even if his attention is mostly focused on the flowers. He gives a thoughtful hum.]
While we’re chattin’- try ta be careful with the local plants, alright?
[It seems harmless so far… but so does Sans on most days, and Joker has seen him absolutely decimate hordes of vampires. Better safe than sorry.]
no subject
[ If Joker's being a shit, Childermass either doesn't seem to mind or notice. The warning about the plants does bring him up short of stepping on one of the flowers, though. He steps back instead and looks down, giving the plant a wary look. ]
Now there's a good idea. I've already nearly been eaten by one before in this place.
[ Which wasn't as dangerous as it sounds, actually, but still. It was a possibility. ]
no subject
[Since meeting creatures like the Ringmaster, Joker isn’t willing to discount anything like that.]
[Still. That’s a lesson that gets learned in good time even in a single year one can spend with the Carnival. Pushing himself up to his feet, he goes to trail behind Childermass again, snorting.]
Sounds like you’ve been havin’ plenty of adventures already, eh?
