What: The carnival arrives at a new location and has its first performance week with the new cast, as outlined here. This is a general mingling log for convenience purposes, but players are welcome to make as many other logs for this purpose as desired.
Warnings: Could be a lot of things, around these parts.

THE REALM OF DREAMS↴ As the carnival arrives at its first stop since its recruitment phase, and prepares to put its new band of workers to the test. In the meantime, there is a whole new world of dreams and nightmares to be explored, and threats to be faced on carnival turf. As of S1:D11, the carnival will be opening its doors to the creatures within, and the carnival will be open daily from noon to midnight, though the connection to the realm will be constant. This is an all purpose mingle log for the full duration of the stay, so please mark top levels with some estimate of what days they'll be occurring on. Please bring any mod questions to the original plotting post.

Under any circumstances, the music would have been enough to catch Greg's attention. On a day like today and a task like this, however, something else drew him after the unfamiliar girl.

"Woah, hang on a sec! I don't think anyone should be going off by themselves right now."

Her tail twitched just a moment before she turned to face him, one eyebrow arched in surprise. "Didn't you hear someone's missing? We gotta go find 'em!"

"Exactly. It'd be bad if anyone got lost out there looking for him. This place is supposed to get pretty tough to navigate." Sure, people more adventurous than Greg have explored without issue, but now would be a bad time for luck to be tested. "Let's at least stick together while we search."

"I'm totally safe." Ash looked for all the world like a cat in the canary cage, with her confident and sly little smile at that. "But hey, I don't mind teaming up with someone. Always fun to sing a duet."

Usually, he'd be willing to take her word for it... but Susan said the same thing before he went missing. He doesn't want to take his chances. "Can't argue with that. What was that, uh, magic band you had playing?"

Susan wasn't Ash. Or at least, Ash had arrogance to spare. "That's my magic. I perform, the accompaniment rings out, and the magic happens!"

"Music turns to magic and back again, huh." He glances around, envisioning instruments floating around them. "I always did say magic happens when I play, though it never hit that level. You've got a one-cat band!"

"You play?" Ash was rapidly losing sight of her original goal, though she hadn't forgotten it entirely. "What?"

"Guitar, mostly. Other stuff too." Greg's gone from looking around for mystical invisible instruments to trying to peer through the dreamscape for any sign of Susan. It's hard to know what to look for in a place like this. "You been here long? I figure you would've made quite the show at orientation."

"Nope. Just signed up recently!" Which she sounded utterly delighted at, her voice musical in pleasure. "We gotta do a jam session sometime," she added, drifting a little closer.

Well, so long as she's happy to be here. Greg shares a smile back at her. "I'd've said the same. I never turn down a duet, stage or no."

"Good. I like working with other people, when I get the chance." She smiled at him, her eyes half-lidded -- before they popped open fully again. "...Uh, though now may not be the best time!"

If he noticed that look, he sure doesn't seem to take anything from it. "Yeah, need to focus on the task at hand. But, once everything's settled and back to normal," As if anything was ever normal around here, "Come find me and my guitar. We'll have some tasty jams."

"You bet." Performing with others was always more fun. There was something unpredictable about it, and that was worth all the hassle. "In the meantime, you wanna help with my spell? My original works sometimes go a little more as planned when I've got accompaniment."

"Well..." He rolls his neck, nominally reluctant. "I don't usually go a cappella, but if it's for a greater purpose, I can't really turn it down." The whole thing makes him a little uncertain, but if the magic involves music, its gotta be okay, right?

"You can use my guitar and I could sing." She caught her axe by its neck, offering it out to him with a smile.

He looks at the guitar a moment, then gives up any attempt at looking unconvinced. He takes the offered instrument, testing its weight in his hands. Maybe the sound could even draw Susan to them? "As good a plan as I can ask for. What key?"

[amusicaladventure]

"I was in A... but if you know a song that's about finding someone, I'll follow your lead. Otherwise we're dipping into an original work... aaaand my original works are more powerful and less predictable." She ran her claws through her hair, ears drooping a little sheepishly.

He considers that a moment as he twiddles strings, making sure they're tuned to his liking. It was her idea, she should really be taking the lead... but he'd rather not take a risk with "unpredictable" magic...

"All right. Songs about finding people... let's see..." He begins picking out the riff, a catchy but simple repetition, and gives her a glance to check if this works.

As soon as she joined in with him, a drum picked up out of nowhere, a corona of light flickered around the girl, and the pair of them felt a tug onwards.
